WBZ 5AM News Open - 1/7/94

I live in the Boston area, and think that BZ's change to CBS was a mistake. I was born in 1994, so I don't remember anything before the change. However, consider that in 1994 and 1995, when the change happened, NBC had Seinfeld, they had a TV contract with the NBA, and I am pretty sure a contract with Major League Baseball and the NFL as well. Why would WBZ want to leave that?

when Joe Shortsleeve joined Suzanne and Ed, they were a very powerful morning show with great chemistry-- anyone have any old clips from that show?? i.e.: circa '95. BZ really screwed up splitting up that team.

Suzanne Bates was the evening news co-anchor at WFLA-TV in Tampa from 1981-1984. Quite a downgrade doing the 5am news, don't you think?

No one would call adding WBZ to your resume... a downgrade. I sure wouldn't.

Indeed, while Ms. Bates had a higher position at WFLA, she was in a smaller market. Boston TV gets more viewers than Tampa TV.
