@amtrak60 Not really. Rail-grinding generally removes a few thousandths so that fatigue cracks (which start there) don't propagate further, leading to rail failure and derailment. The surface contour is also restored to closer to ideal curve.

Cool Stuff, All of that MoW stuff is UP's or is being paid for by UP. Sometime in the near utre, a increase in Traffic will hit out line.

It makes the rails smooth for trains so they don't go up and down like crazy.
