If you want to ebrake turn your Sube, guilty free, you will need a 2004 STi. as mentioned, no other Subaru can pop the diff full open, when you pull the handle up. A 2004 STi DCCD in Auto will do just that, 2005 STi not sure, 2006+ no go.
pulling the handbrake to get it sideways is a BIG NO NO! You will ruin your central differential. It is a simple viscous coupling unit and blocking the rear wheels from turning puts ahuge strain on the unit if the front wheels are rotating.
