  • Nothing like a country guy and soulful dude singing Bob Dylan.

  • Blowin In The Wind is definately one of the greatest songs ever. It has been performed by many great people and I love every version.

  • Many thanks to YouTube for keeping this stuff and allowing us mortals to dip into their database, in a few years when the kids have seen through the x factor type crap and want to see real musicians its all here for them to be musically educated.

  • Those of you who saw this when it first aired, did you feel that this performance was also some sort of a political statement, a white country singer and black soul artist singing this song together? I wasn't even born when this was recorded and when I listen to this today I "just" hear this out-of-this-world performance, but I can imagine that back in the day this also made a big impression on another level. Anyone care to comment on that?

  • @lumdeloo Its an amazing performance and you have consider this was done less than a year after MLK got assassinated and several months before this performance RFK was assassinated and the Vietnam War was in full force . This country already trying to rebuild itself from the riots that hit all major cities. This performance was very much needed. People have said during this period was when they thought US was that close to total destruction with all that was goin on.

  • @rjam1974 Thanks very much for your reply, it is really helpful to have some more context for this indeed amazing performance.

  • COUNTRY HAS MUCH GOSPEL IN IT. I CAN,T SEE HOW PEOPLE CAN'T HEAR THAT.

  • This is the unlikeliest of duos singing the wrong song on television of all places, and yet.... wow. This is the first video I have ever watched more than once (three times) in succession. Who knew Stevie Wonder could sing Buck Owens? Who knew Glen Campbell could sing gospel? And who would ever have guessed how well their voices would blend on such an inspired arrangement of Blowin in the Wind? Thanks!

  • This is the unlikeliest of duos singing the wrong song on television of all places, and yet.... wow. Thanks for the post!

  • Stevie's NOT Bob

  • @birdstuckinchimney Yeah, he's infinitely more talented musically. Bob Dylan is much more of a poet than a musician.

  • Stevie is God

  • Stevie is God

  • Stevie is God

  • The best workin at it beaut, thanks bros..Irish john

  • We expected for Stevie to do his THANG, but OMG Damn! Glen is Blowing & soulfuly I must add! Very damn good, very damn good.

  • Best version of this song. Their voices are beautiful together!

  • 3 people have nothing but wind blowing between their ears.

  • this deserves more than 87k views...

  • Glen could do anything.

  • 40 years later it's still smoking hot!!!

  • love love love this, wish they left the orchestra OUT

  • The only thing that could have made better was B.J. Thomas making it a trio (if only)

  • This is so cool. Glen Campbell TEARS! And Stevie Wonder is a guy who has some talent, I guess. A little bit. Kinda.

  • I'm just crying

  • @xavlexav

    I started crying too.....

  • thanks so much for sharing this - I remember my Mama used to listen to Glen Campbell when I was a little girl - and I've loved Stevie since then too...seeing them both perform together pulls at my heartstrings...

  • @nzgirl247 You should see Stevie and Tom Jones together now there was magic. I never knew Tom had so much soul.

  • A lot of people forget (or don't know) that Glen filled in for Brian Wilson in the Beach Boys when Brian had to quit touring in the mid 60s, so the high-range vocal stuff is his thing. He also played guitar and bass on Pet Sounds.

  • Oh the days when people were famous for actually having talent.

  • Rarely have two bonified geniuses and musical talents with reputations the stuff of legend been paired together for a performance as special as this. Their collaboration on Dylan's most lasting testament to the brilliance of his own abilities as a songwriter is nothing less than a mind blowing thing to see and hear that borders on the supernatural. Campbell's legendary guitar prowess and pitch perfect vocal range combined with the " Boy Wonder's" other-worldly talents is a gift tro the ages.

  • This song is a very great performance of both stevie and glenn , can somebody tell me were i can find this on dvd please

  • Phenomenal collab!

  • Just to watch Stevie sing is a privelidge, what a beautiful man never mind singer, truly truly beautiful.

  • THIS is great i think glenn is very strong with his voice here. where can i find this dvd

I have Good times again but this song was not on it.

  • Hey Glen give the genius a run for his money. Brilliant

  • Without question, this is one of the best videos on You Tube. The harmony these two produced is amazing. Music today is no where near this good!

  • Damn this man can sing,...voice of an angel.

    Goosebumps

  • So cool.

  • brilliant!

  • This video is so freaking awesome.

  • This is so wonderfully powerful. What fantastic talent.

  • When Stevie sang the first words from Blowin in the Wind, my eyes watered and the hair on my arms stood up....I defy anyone to tell me that he wasnt born to sing.

  • yes!!

  • th@ was really refreshing, dnt know how i came cross this. but very cool. thnx 4 the upload.

  • what is the name of song stevie wounder start ??? both of them amazing mens i love them

  • Stil just luvin this, an luvin it.

  • whats the name of the first song they sing?

  • It's a bit of "Tiger By The Tail", an old Buck Owens song.

  • @BluebirdGuitar Wish they had played the whole song. It sounds absolutely incredible.

  • What a great song this is .. Always true, and always in style.. The words are so powerful.. and to the point.. Its a song for those who don't want to soften their heart and realize that only by kindness and justice , will the human race survive.. Go Stevie..and Glen.. Love to you both..

  • Glen is one of the best kept secrets in musical history. My father told me when I was a kid that Glen Campbell was an amazing guitarist. Still to this day I can only find snippets of tunes where he showcases that talent. He can tear it up big time, but for whatever reason, he remaims humble, and unknown for an extreme ability to play the guitar. Someboby needs to put him in the spotlight he seems to avoid..to showcase his talent.

  • Truly Wonderful, Stevie is my man but Glen Campbell adds something really great to this.XXX

  • I don't know how on earth I came across here as I was looking for something else. This is amazing. Glen Campbell and Stevie Wonder is amazing.

  • OH DAMN! I knew Glen had soul, but he upped it on me on this one. Impressive!

  • anyone know what key stevie play it in ? on the piano ?

  • B flat

  • Wow!,What a find ! Great stuff from two super talented guys.

  • Amazing! Eventhough i'm a huge Stevie Wonder fan, I especially love the high notes Glen sings around 3:21.

    Wonderful duet.

  • I have remembered this broadcast for 40 years as the greatest duet I have ever been privy to hearing. What a thrill to see and hear it again!!

  • Amazing stuff. The old days were gone before I got here but man, that's real talent. Black and White, they both got a lot of soul. Glen Campbell must be the only white boy that ever gave Stevie a run for his money vocally! Kudos Campbell, you old Scot! Stevie is a legend!

  • Oh come on now!! Everybody knows today's rappers are more talented than

    these two...NOT!!

  • Still loving this so so so much! Gon yersel Stevie ur the best! XXXX

  • These guys are both masters. Both are just both monster musicians, equals really. Campbell was part of the West Coast "Wrecking Crew" session team that provided COUNTLESS tracks for Motown Records (including Wonder), Beach Boys, and others.

  • Blows my mind, two geniuses jamming and IAMAJAMMA could not have said it better.

  • Stevie Wonder and Glen Campell, well before stevie and paul;-)))

  • Hell yeah.

  • Absolutely beautiful...and I remember this broadcast. Thanks for posting it....

  • I'm black and I have to say, Glen had the soul thing goin!! It just shows soul is a feeling not a race.

  • I totally agree with you. I am Black also, and I have listened to Glen Campbell for many many years. He is one hellv'a musician. This is a duet among two very great and talented entertainers. This is an absolutely beautiful combination of talent. And yes, they both have soul. Peace

  • Did u hear how well Glen harmonized with Stevie on that Tiger by The Tail riff @ the beginning? Live and off the cuff no less. which pop stars harmonize that well live nowadays? or even sing live?

  • Comment removed

  • This is some serious harmony by two legends!

  • So true, so true! :)

  • my sis and I are both Stevie fans and she told me to listen to this she was right its fab Thanks tamnliz now I cant stop watchin it

    luv ye jxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx

  • Its not a competition, jus two really good chanters enjoying singing together. Lets just relish it!

  • Stevie's piano playing is very reminiscent of the great master Floyd Cramer!!

  • Stevie has nothing on Glen with this gospel great, i love them both very much, but Glen just showed Stevie it not just a black thang!! God bless them both!

  • Sweeeeeeeeeeeet!

  • Jus cant stop watchin this. its sooooo good. Am Stevie fan but Glen Campbell is great.

  • Glen Campbell is fantastic, as he sits and sings with the master...........

  • Two guys you wouldn't expect to see performing together, but they do an exceptional job. Glen more than holds his own with the great Stevie.

  • @graysick ..man, that Glenn Campbell can chirp, 'caint' he?

  • wonderfull

  • pity people in the world got to fight and kill each other.

  • amazing tune by two of the all time greats.

  • I consider this my all time favorite musical video. It has everything a song could have for this award : hope and longing for peace , soul and folk, black and white , duet, a great melody, great singers , a Dylan composition , wonderful piano and orchestral support and so much love.....Thank you Stevie, Glen and Dylan and those who put this on YouTube.

  • amazing

  • One of my favourite song!!!! :)

    being so happy!

  • no comment... he's 19 years old there...

  • This is absolutely incredible!!!! Can you see todays artists coming together regardless of their musical background to do this???

  • Yes, I can.

This is bloomin good, but I can see something like it happening. Have faith rjam!

  • stunning !!!

  • Holy smokes that is staggering!!! The second half takes off, pure genius from both guys! Thanks for posting!

  • Fantastic, Glen and Stevie both in there prime, what talents, this is the best duet Ive ever heard

  • what a great mix. Glen Campbell held his own most definitely. As for Stevie ..... what can I say.

  • wow ddnt excpect glen campbell to sing that good! stevie superb as a man can get as usual!

  • I got the goosebumps too. I watch this video when I am feeling down. It is full of joy and happiness and it always puts a smile on my face to hear this song. Love it!

  • Goosebumps on this one. Spectacular.

  • electrifying what a find

  • electrifying my two favorite artists what a find whew!!!!!!!

  • WOW!!!!!!!!!! This clip is amazing. Glen Campbell surprisingly holds his own with Stevie. Two great vocalists, each in his prime. Very heartfelt and soulful. 5 stars!

  • Great blend of talent. Bob's words light Stevie's flame, and Glen is also ignited as a result. I feature this cover of BitW on my Playlist, Bob with Covers.

  • two of the greatest ever..how brilliant!!

  • This is so awesome! I've watched this so many times already! Look how Glen is surprised that Stevie starts singing the Buck Owens song in the beginning! Now that's classic!

  • top tune ya know sir.

  • Love the Charlie Pride riff that Stevie throws out at the beginning. Glen and Stevie: Pure Class!

  • wow that white boy can sing!

And stevie killed it as usual

  • awesome post. thank you!

  • glenn was da man so is stevie.

  • I think Glen outsang Stevie on this number!!!!!

  • Campbell can play and sing with the best of them. Same for Stevie. And Dylan can write like a madman.

  • Can't play lead guitar - are you serious? Campbell was a much sought after session guitarist before he was a star - he played on records by Frank Sinatra, Nat King Cole, Merle Haggard, Elvis Presley, Ray Charles and the Mamas and the Papas. He's a brilliant lead guitarist.

  • Glen Campbell can´t play the lead guitar.

  • BlueBirdGuitar...thanks so much for posting this. I had no idea this existed....wonderful.

  • Stevie's political period - doing a Bob Dylan song yet!

  • since Stevie's career got off the ground (at such a young age and long before my time) he's always been politically vocal and done socially aware material, hasn't he? that's just the impression i've always had...

  • Glen was and is so underrated. Talk about talent!

Had a #1 major hit song with Allen Toussaint's Southern Nights in 1977 and he really ticked off CBS for having racially diverse acts on his Goodtime Hour show, even did a break up/love song duet with Dionne Warwick on his show in 1969 of Say A Little Prayer/By The Time I Get To Phoenix. (he recorded it with Anne Murray, but it sounded best with Dionne IMO).

  • thanks for the information...good stuff!

  • this is the first time i've ever heard glen campbell or seen him perform (i've seen pictures of him and heard of his name growing up, but that's it). he's talented and charismatic here. thanks for posting this.

  • This is more amazing to me than the vid of Stevie and Ray doing Living For the City. The times, the voices, the history, this is absolutely STUNNING!

  • fantastic..never seen or heard it before, but its on my favourites now thanks

  • Stevie Wonder is certainly a been there, done that individual. He has had so many brushes with greatness, so many adventures; what a stellar kind of guy!

  • Glen Campbell is one of the most underappreciated geniuses in music. He is far above many of the country stars of today in so many ways.

  • Stevie Wonder is treasure giving us hopes and light :god bless

  • The power of music....just awesome!

  • I am a professional musician and I must say that this performance is the best musical video I have ever seen in my 47 years. Glen Campbell and Stevie Wonder have always been monumental musicians in every way. And to have them performing a duet together back in probably 1969 or 1970 and being able to relive that is a treasure chest of entertainment!

  • Ok that last post was the happy part -- read it first. Now here's the sad part -- as this was airing (if it aired..??), about half the country was staring at their tv's, asking this question: "Why is Glen Campbell on the tv singing like a ni*%%er????" Again, sad, but true, true true. God Bless the U S of A. I guess...

  • In a word -- wow. I'be been on Youtube a few years now, I don't know if any single video has ever pulled me in -- especially when they start call and response stuff (Stevie, sure, but this is FREAKING GLEN CAMPBELL, right? MAN I underestimated him...) toward middle of tune -- as much as this just did. Absolutely fantastic post. Thank you.

  • Doesn't surprise me. Been a fan of Glen's before anyone ever heard of him. You should hear him do the old Roy Orbison songs, or wail with 3 dog night. As to his guitar ability; both Elvis and Sinatra said he was the best guitar player they ever worked with.

  • Just Awesome!!!!!

  • He did play many MO'town records Hence The Slang

  • This is what makes YouTube so great... people who have never seen Glen Campbell before (except that horrible mug shot when he got picked up for GHB posession) now know how talented the man really was... he could pick a guitar as well as he could sing... a true talent... and of course Stevie is an ICON -- What a gem of a video, THANK YOU for posting it! :-)

  • lmao! its blowin, blowin, ahhh, blowin! lmao crazy crazy funnyness....lmao

  • Glen Campbell can hold it down with anybody. Kind of an Elvis-like guy. Country goes Soul!

  • This does bring back memories for me.

I wonder if it was from Glem Campbells Goodtiem Variety show?

  • Yes, it is '69...March I think.

  • Hot Damn!!!!! Glen got Soul!

  • Wow! I'm a Steve Wonder fan, but Glen Campbell (whom I'm not familiar with; I'm 31) had a great voice, didn't he!

  • Glen Campbel is no JOKE !! he's a white boy that can hold his own anywhere anytime. he's an American Classic from the ol' school Capital Records days in Los Angeles.

  • You are so right. This clip must have been from the time when he had hits like Witchita Lineman and By the time I get to Phoenix

  • actually this is the best ever version i have heard two totally great artists in their own right.

  • one of the greatest songs of all time.

  • I share the sentiment expressed by churchofdave. Words well written my friend.

  • Fantastic. Hats of to Glen because it must be scary trying to sing with such a wonderful and powerful singer as Stevie but he does a great job. They both do.

  • Well when I was a kid (when this was shot) a black man leading a redneck in a song written by a pseudo folk / hippy was pretty controversial. No matter how bad it looks today it's certainly better than it was back then and before. Guys like this give mankind a pretty decent chance of survival.

  • HERE, HERE!!!! I must admit, these are two of my absolute favorite musicians together, and it rocks!!

  • thechurchofdave leads the choir on perspective. It's amazing how far we've backtracked. We aren't allowed to be this controversial now.

  • Both great singers in their own right. Big ups to their love of music

  • That is a bit of an old Buck Owens tune called "Tiger By The Tail".

  • what is the song they sing at the begining

  • WoW. Sent chills down my spine. Lyrics still resonate true to this day unfortunately.

  • wow!

    What a fantastic clip.

  • wow!

  • Absoluletly wonderful. Brought tears to my eyes.

  • Wonderful. Thank you for sharing.

  • i cant stop watching this. I wish more people could see this. Rare genius

  • that blew me away. Awesome.

  • plain and simply beautiful

  • thanks for posting this clip.two brilliant muscians and singers.
