James is great. The Soul Train dancers are about at the level of a Rotary Club picnic in the 2010s. They may have been it at the time... It is amazing how fast stuff gets sucked into the culture. I saw kids do James' moves at a private high school talent show in the 70s, in Canada. No more square place.

Fascinating stuff. There's a lot of here for Jamesologists. You can start to see how some of his 70s adaptations were beginning to move him farther away from Jamesintegrity and beginning to move him from follower to leader of the funk.

He's chosen to go with the Bellbottoms and the perm is probably a mimic. I also wonder whether the higher heals shoes limit his dancing a bit relative to the tap shoes that he was wearing at his peak.
