I have a question for all Muslims or disciples of the Islamic order. Everyone will have a different answer, but I welcome hearing all or anyone that cares to give me his or her testimony. For example, are u one because u were born into it or did God speak to u some how through His word, another person or directly. Did you convert because u married into an Islamic family or did you just feel it was the best religion to join? A testimony is a very powerful convincing tool.

@ajlapiana. im born christian...ive always prayed to god in jesus name.i prayed as i always have in jesus name and asked god for guidance with tears in my eyes and a hole in my heart. i began actualy reading my bible lord willing i will finish soon.i decided to listen to the quran after finding out that muslims believe in jesus. i bought a quran and i plan to read it more. i could see my self practicing as a muslim and not feel like im betraying god because we worship the same god..we'll see..

if it was a sacred space of a mile or 2, i would understand. this is a whole city which is forbidden to nonmuslims, over 320 square miles. i mean mecca use to be a diverse city, what you think happened to all the nonmuslims who had homes there? i've been in mecca, there is nothing sacred about it. full of garbage, poor deformed people at all the "sacred" sites begging, stray cats everywhere. "sacred" is used as an excuse for modern racism and segregation. medina is following the same path.

people are allowed their sacred space. i dont go into people's homes if im not invited. this is the religious home for muslims so if you are not one dont go there there is nothing there that interests you. im pretty certain that a good proportion of people who live in mecca dont pray or even go the haram regularly if at all. i was there 4 yrs ago and the place is not full of holy people let me assure you. people get robbed, murdered, cheated, violated so non islamic behavior aplenty

u know the story. abraham turned his back on his pagan people after he had received guidance from God so he traveled to canaan. he sojourned there til a famine took him to egypt sarah was barren so it was for hagar to bear a child to abraham. sarah and hagar came into conflict God advised abraham in a dream to drive hagar and her boychild out. hagar reached the area of mecca which was dessert and prayed to God for water. God produced a spring, the two were saved and abraham built the kaba there

abraham built the kaaba as a refuge and prayer for travelers as an act of charity by this spring which still runs today. the cloth on the Kaaba is supposed to be soaked with water to make the space inside cool. today people make pilgrimage to mecca to commemorate these events. they walk between those two hills to commemorate when hagar ran back and forth in a panic over the plight of the dying little boy. God intervened in these people's lives so it is good to consider these things and reflect

@iorixs one does not need to be able to create something in order to understand its functioning. scientists can't create a measly atom from nothing, does that mean they don't understand its qualities and its properties? point is, i get annoyed when religious people act as if they understand life, complexity and beauty; when biologists, geneticist, botanists, zoologists understand the intricacies of life, complexity and beauty a hundred fold. sadly majority of them are atheists and agnostics.

i think so many people that go there to worship that tourists would complicate matters. but anyone can go really. there is no inquisitor who examines everyone. aside from that most people that go there as muslims are not very devoted themselves. many dont pray 5 times per day or follow all the laws but peform hajj as part of their cultural heritage and not so much out of deep religious devotion. in mohammads time there was hostility so they made this rule to keep the peace, "no rowdies!"

@itskammy well its not fair of u to tell me to study islam, when u don't know my credentials. but i don't mind. i did umrah hajj 2 years ago, my parents did hajj 2 weeks ago. i may joke around, but i know what i am talking about. all i am saying is, muslims around the world are just barely getting by. a lot of these muslims come from villages all around asia, selling their land and spending a big part of their livelihood to do hajj. if there is no allah, isn't the whole journey a mistake?
