  • Hi Brett how long does a partner have to live with you until they are entitle to assetts.

    I have heard two years and after two years are they entitle to haft your asserts.

    My girl friend and i living together but she is still married does . Are we defacto.

    If we break up but she whats to stay in the spare room is a rental agree enough . Tp prove that we are living apart

  • In most states of Australia you are in a defacto relationship after 2 years (or less if you have children or share money and buy assets together). However, you need to be married or in a defacto relationship for 10 years plus to start losing ½ your assets.

    If you are only boyfriend and girlfriend you may not be in a defacto relationship. There is a definition on this term.
