Ryan's plan would give billions more to the insurance companies via vouchers. And where does the money for those vouchers come from? You and me, that's who!
Can you say CORPORATE WELFARE??? This nigger (Ryan) should know better! F U Ryan and the rest of your corporate slave (GOP) buddies!
If anyone is stupid enough to tell you privatizing health care will make it more affordable ask them how much people in Canada, Germany or France pay for it. Then say
If anyone is stupid enough to tell you privatizing health care will make it more affordable ask them how much people in Canada, Germany or France pay for it. Then say
could someone pleeeeeese tell me why your so upset over healthcare, but you must carry car insurance and pay whatever the hell they charge you? i can't believe your not up in arms over that bullshit.
Wow! unclelight! You're way out of line. Ryan is seeking to limit the power of the insurance lobby and the large Corporations that have won huge with the Obmanation of a health care bill. If your one of those morons that thinks that Republican's are looking to help the insurance companies you're dead wrong.
This guy is what the republican party needs well almost maybe about 3000 more guys with the ability to come up with solutions rather than play the blame game for years.
The $5,000 is not to pay for medical procedures/doctor visits, etc...it's to purchased new health insurance which will pay for health services.
I find most of these debates are about what I think versus about what you think and then the shouting matches take off. I challenge all of you to give inputs to what you think is needed versus what someone in Congress wants. If we have everyone's inputs, those inputs could come under consideration for a bill that covers everyone equally.
I think state exchanges is a very good idea. I also know that medicaid and medicare especially would not be breaking the system if the goverment would qite dipping their hands into the system. When the medicare system was orginally set up it was not to be touched or used in any other way than what it was allocated for and this has not happened.
@rightwinginTX yep, and for very good reason, I prefer to send my money to organizations that can use my money 100% efficiently, that I actually have oversight over, we already know the government is full of bungling idiots with alterior motives 1000 miles away from where I live, why would we trust them with more oversight
This plan as I understand it is inadequate. 5000 dollars on a tax card? This is not going to pay a day's stay in a hospital. What is needed is insurance reform and malpractice reform to bring down costs & the gov. assists (those who cannot afford to get health insurance) by helping to pay for monthly premiums. Everyone should be required to have some kind of health insurance who comes into this country. You all know Medicare is too expensive for youth to pay for all us baby boomers.
He gave himself away before he even began his proposal when he referred to the the healthcare crisis as a "game" and it's prey as "consumers". The reason medicare is so expensive under the current system is it's trying to compete with insurance costs! Remove insurance companies from the equation, and replace it with an affordable universal coverage plan. There are plenty of working models we could adopt. Then we can stop listening to ridiculous, greedy politicians like this guy.
A flat 3-6,000 for everyone? That costs more than Obama's plan without even factoring the inflation in health care costs this would create. The biggest winner here is insurance companies and most people who can't afford insurance will still be short because this credit isn't enough to cover the entire cost.
Republicans in the pockets of the health insurance industry - big surprise.
I'll tell you what's offensive. Denying people healthcare is offensive. Forcing people in bankruptcy to save their lives is offensive. Getting rich off of people getting sick is offensive. Doctors who won't take medicaid is offensive. If doctors are so in love with money they should have went into business not medicine. I find it obscene the way people look at taking care of sick people as a way to become filthy rich. They turn my stomach.
Agreed...and it's also interesting that ~60% of doctors in the US support a universal healthcare plan, but that's never brought up and was refused as an option by the Obama administration. Insurance and pharmaceutical companies with politicians such as this clown speaker in their fat pockets are the real culprits. It turns my stomach too.
Hate to introduce you to the world. But doctors want to help people, but they don't go to school for over seven years to make peanuts. Health care is a privilege, not a right. This was not an issue a hundred years ago. People with money have always gotten better health care. That's just life.
You know how pretentious you sound? History repeats itself. It's best to be as little ignorant as possible, unless you like being bliss. No utopia to be found in America. Check out another country.
Sorry if you took my knee jerk comment offensive, as I took yours. But I do believe that we should not get rights and privileges mixed up. They are two separate things.
Because we are already in way too much debt, and our government can not afford to foot the bills for everyone. Americas have the freedom to work and have their own pursuit of happiness. That does not mean we have to all have identical lifestyles. I respect you for your thoughts though. As it would be nice if we can figure out some type of basic health care for all Americans. But we are in way too much debt right now to take Obama's plan seriously.
We have all kinds of money. We spend almost twice as much and have health care that is half as good. People that complain about lack of money always strike me as the ones that are screwing things up. You're way too concerned aboutt how much money you've got. Did you ever think that might be a problem with you?
No I don't have any money. And the government has less than me. I don't know what money you think we have. The government has never been in more debt.
Who's being denied? Most of those in this country without health care are illegal aliens and many of the rest are making a personal choice to spend that money elsewhere which is their choice but not my problem.
What your problem is is good old fashioned wealth envy. That, and judging from some of your other post on this thread, a complete lack of understanding of civics, finance and a plethora of other things. Suffice it to say, you are quite ignorant on a multitude of levels.
i'm currently a UK citizen and will be emigrating to the USA within a year or so. but i tell you, things like this make you think twice. that made my head spin
It's embarassing that some Americans buy into this. Hopefully we will snap out of this barbaric system eventually. These politicians try to scare us with misleading statements such as, "government run healthcare" knowing people will confuse it with universal healthcare. Rep. Ryan knows full well that hospitals and offices will remain privately owned.
Kudos to Rep. Ryan for actually coming up with a plan with some meat to it. I would be open to hearing further details, but from off the top, I don't see how this will work without getting heathcare costs under control, which seems to be a major factor. A 5-10K card won't go very far when you can blow that with one illness.
It's definitely a starting point and it's good to see actual ideas flowing instead of old, rehashed talking points. A move in the right direction...

Regardless of one's view on the health care bill, the fact remains that it is UNCONSTITUTIONAL.

@rightwinginTX why is it unconstitutional?

America bankrupt:
102 trillion for SS & medicare
25 trillion for TARP & bailouts
53 trillion plundered from other trusts
Every single American man, woman & child owes over $600K in FED Gov debt
The US dollar will collapse within the next 1 to 2 years
Check out Rockefeller & Senate Bills 773 & 778 attempting to end American access to the Internet
Americans lost all but no. 3 of their Bill of Rights; Geithner has been wrong about everything for 15 straight years!
1 in 10 on US food stamps!
