Now that is cool! I aspire one day to own one of these beauties as well, even if I can't talk on it yet, but just to listen would be good enough for me! It sure beats the crap on the CB or the broadcast radio.
You need a real radio like a cobra 2000 or a ranger, thems big radios unlike them crappy icoms or yazuus, man my antrons got 60 dolby an talks rings around the best ham beam, it takes a professional to do cb
just go search a video called ' anti ham radio cbs are better ' by redneckmikesr and he shows yall why, hams are jealous cause they dont have fancy stuff like echo mikes
It takes a license to "do" ham, mate. Sorry, but CB is one unpredictable band, (here anyways) FM only 4W, and is pretty abysmal at the moment.
Amateur radio operators can use echo microphones too, they're not that fancy to be honest - an audio processor and a few capacitors. Plus, I'll have you know that I can almost guarantee the receiver on the IC7400 is nautical miles better than a standard CB receiver. Research. Do it. :)
This is a great video depicting how well the 746 ICOM works. Not sure if this the Pro series or not, nevertheless the radio appears to be a great receiver in listening mode. I can't get over that you're using just a long wire. Thanks for sharing. AI4QT
Eoghan ... a really good tip to obliterate noise on any / every band is to switch everything else in the Shack OFF AND REMOVE THE PLUGS FROM SOCKETS ... and then only the radio / power supply is left connected ... suddenly those low distant stations sound much more loud and clear ... Best wishes Lil Buddipole ...
The TFT desk top is clearly ultra low interference on the adjacent rig ... bear that one in mind fellow Hams / SWLs ... PS viewers ... listen out at around 1 min 40 secs , Eoghan`s Dad shouts up the stairs and Eoghan can be heard saying FU*K under his breath ... atrocious language for a 14 year old school boy !!! ... LOL ... 73s Lil Bud ...
That is really a neat receiver! Am impressed with the low noise level of the receiver. Icom correct? A whole new World will come when that Amateur license hangs on your wall 73 TPL
I subscribed! Awesome radio --- Man! Catch anything strange and weird?
Thanx!

Teatime :)
Yeah - I was really surprised by the TFT as it caused mayhem to the Yupiteru on 80m especially :)

Yes, it's a great receiver - can't wait to get on the air. It's very decent on all the bands I've tried so far :)
The only problem is that the QRM on 20m makes it unusable unless i take the rig out of the house - I'm trying to get that sorted now
