Much of the game "Halo: Reach" is based off of the 2004 Halo novel titled "Halo: The Fall of Reach".

The novel goes into extreme detail about Master Chief being trained on this planet, how the Pillar of Autumn escaped the chaos, and of course the biggest final stand ever against the covenant which resulted in the annihilation of almost all the Spartans. The chief later returns to the planet in "Halo: First Strike" where he discovers five spartan survivors and a dark secret hidden in Reach.

Ive played Reach, and the weapons are kinda crappy. takes to many shots with the DBR, Assault rifle just plain blows. only weapons i found useful was the sniper rifle, and a few others are ok (just my few cents anyways).
