  • Your spot on!

Radio in this country is awful now!!!

  • Caroline is brilliant. Really diverse. Lyn

  • Thanks to you all for your comments, As for BIGL?

  • Hi there,

Thank you for posting this, I think you sum up quite well what everybody else is thinking. I an a huge fan of Radio Caroline, and am so grateful for everything that the team did all that time ago, and still do. Well done! Nick

  • Great, I couldn't agree more. Thats why the internet is so good coz we have access to all of this good stuff rather than listening to the same material everywhere.

More power to you. Nice one.

  • Hi All Thanks for your comments. Dave.

  • Couldn't agree more.

  • I totally agree with you, radio is totally abysmal. The station now using the name Caroline, isn't Caroine. Caroline belongs at sea where total freedom prevails, and I can't see this ever happening again. Radio is run in the interests of business and advertisers, the listener comes in last place, I blame Ofcom. Caroline was the First (in the UK), the Best and sadly the Last. The real Radio Caroline has not broadcast since 1990, such a shame that the once mighty Caroline has fallen!

  • Hi Roland Thanks for chat on the phone from the studio great.

    Dave.

  • It was nice to chat to you as well. Keep up the good work. There is plenty of support out there for Caroline.

  • Hi Guys Thanks for all your comments, and Roland i have been on your website i think it was yours? and watched your videos.

Going by what has been posted on this site there is no support for Caroline so if you come on this site please leave a comment keep it clean if not it will be removed, I would love to here from more guys from Caroline to put your point over so you can get more fans to tune in.

    All The Best Dave.

  • Hi Dave!

Thanks for the comment you have sent, I agree with what you said overall just that Caroline will never be a force again. Do you think after your generation of people die out that Caroline will continue? I don't think so! As for what I listen to you would be amazed, as I don't listen to any UK or USA based radio and your find the radio i would like to listen does not exsist. Thanks again Mr Pipeline.

  • Hi sir!

Come on now Radio caroline as it is only apeals to those over 50! remember half of the nation is younger than that, offshore radio is dead and I had the time to work on the ross revenge in 1995 and enjoyed it. I agree radio needs a good kick up the rear but Radio Caroline is never going to do this again, it needs some young blood and while Malcom Smith runs it this will never happen.

    James.

  • Hi James thanks for your comment well i am 54 and so i come into the over 50's, Caroline will Never be as big as it was, i agree with young blood and a new Guv i have said this for many years, But at the end of the Day we have a better choice to tune into Caroline or Bigl or any station you like.

    Dave.

  • Caroline tries to be different with a library of 11,000 tunes. They don't play Rap or R and B but lots of other stations already do that. When a public berth can be found for the Ross and live programmes can be broadcast from the ship I think the atmosphere will be a lot better.

  • Hi Again Dave,I'd love to listen to some of the old RNI progs, I think Caroline and Radio London, were for the 60's,RNI the 70's and Laser the 80's.I think RNI was the most exciting offshore radio of all, what do you other guys think? The other point i'd like to make is,why does the Caroline Organisation keep the Ross Revenge when they do nothing with it?I'm sure the Anoraks would much prefer more progs broadcast from the ship.Keep Rocking Dave

  • Hi pirate259 they are restoring the Ross to keep as

Radio History which it is, and hopefully open the ship

to the public, where the ship is now at Tilbury the

public can not visit the ship, As for some R.N.I progs

i will do some 10 min videos ok .Dave.

  • I agree 100% with Dave's comments. British radio is bollocks - absolutely hopeless. I was a fan of Caroline from 1983 until her closure in 1990. I also occasionally listened to Laser/Monique. In the 70s/80s I also liked The Great 208. Sadly, to reiterate, the MW/FM radio scene in the UK died when Caroline left the airwaves.

  • Hi Wizard,It seems like you no longer listen to Radio Caroline, yet you were listening between 1983 and the close down at sea in 1990,i personally don't like the music output, but you seem to enjoy it, why not listen online?

  • Hi Guys thanks for your comments great stuff, to be honest i can not listen to Caroline all day, its sounds stupid it is true i do like a good mix of music so i also listen to Bigl on the net it is on 1395 AM IN THE UK AND EUROPE, What a plug, I have been a Pirate on Radio had a good time, I would love more Comments Cheers Dave.

  • At least Caroline tries to be different. They have 11,000 tracks on their computer and the presenters also use their own stuff so the choice is endless. They don't play Rap and modern R and B and very little modern pop but that stuff is well catered for elsewhere. The atmosphere when broadcasting live from the Ross Revenge definately improves and hopefully when a public berth can be found for the ship things will improve.

    Roland

  • Hi Pirate,

Thanks for your response. In my opinion, Caroline was only Caroline when she broadcast from a ship in int waters. Caroline on the Internet and scabby Sky means nothing to me. It's not Caroline. Let me give you a further example: when Luxy 208 ditched 1440 MW and went on to satellite, it was crap ! To me, it was not Luxembourg. Luxy, like Caroline, meant medium wave, not satellite and not Internet.

The present day 'Caroline' is not free radio. It is legit radio.

  • Hi Wizared,Thanks for relpy. When you say Caroline is no longer FREE,do you mean in the respect of legality to broadcast?Free was never meant to mean that,it was FREE in the sense of what music was played on the station.I understand fully what you mean about Caroline at sea,it was an exciting period.Where do you go to listen nowadays?I enjoy SOME progs from BIGL.

  • Hi Pirate, 'FREE' as in not having any licence to broadcast. The FREEDOM of non-restriction. A ship at sea FREE of control by the authorities. I have hundreds of Caroline recordings (which I taped myself), and listen to them regularly.

As for radio listening these days - I have no interest. Caroline/Laser/Monique/Luxy are all gone. Licenced radio is boring. I listen to music I download in Drumbeat/FrostWire. Those wankers at GWR were the first to knacker radio in this country. Bastards.

  • Hi All its Dave again i have Also have recodings of Caroline

and Radio North Sea its nice to go back in time and listen to real radio, I just hope that sombody from

Caroline will post something it would be good, so we can have your comments to this debate, At the momment

i have got a Tony Allen CD playing.

    Keep On Rocking Dave.

  • Hi Pirate 259 Can i say thanks for your feed back,

The reason is, that Caroline started music Radio back in 1964 before that in the UK we had only 1/2 hour of music a week, it is still going today, it has been going since then, its had bad times so us old farts love Caroline keeping the station alive thats why we pay to keep the station on air they do this, in the USA some stations do the same, I know its not everybodys type of music but Caroline is History. Keep On Rocking Dave.

  • Hi Again Dave,The other remark you made i wanted to comment on, was,I find it difficult to believe that the Radio Caroline Management expect Anoraks to pay £7.50p a month to listen. If the station cant survive on its own don't you think it should call it a day?

  • Afraid I have to agree with previous respondant, Radio Caroline has lost the plot, ain't what it was. Maybe it's just because I prefer to remember it as it was at sea. Think you and I should have stayed in the 60's. I remember Radio Scotland too at anchor near where I lived. Anoraks unite!!

  • Hi Dave,I totally agree with you on your comments about British Radio, yes it's CRAP for the most part.I miss good radio when i am traveling,if you listen to any gold farty station in the UK i can gaurentee that in any 3 hour programme you will hear Young Girl.I feel that we do have a very wide choice of music radio via the PC,lots and lots of choice.I'm afraid i DON'T like the output of Radio Caroline,so, don't listen anymore

  • Thanks for comment as for Radio Caroline its not

    every bodys taste cheers Dave.
