Trading with China and Vietnam is working as an economic advantage for the US. It pushes down inflation, and makes things more affordable for the average American families. Plus, those manufacturing jobs are what the Americans don't want (cheap Mexican labors working in the US farms and mills). This is not the same as tolerating China and Vietnam politically. About the internet getting information freely to the whole world...China actively blocks websites that they don't want people to see. According to an American living in China, when the Tibetan uprising broke out, You-Tube was blocked for afew days.

As for the U.N Peace Keepers: Recently they had to be pulled from a peace keeping mission for raping women. In 1967 Egypt asked the UN Peace Keepers to leave and the 1967 Israel / Arab war started. Last year when the Russians invaded Georgia, the UN peace keepers stood by the side of the road and watched. The UN is worthless.

Firstly, when Marx talked of capitalism he was, more often than not, talking of the european states, as these were the most advanced societes' at the time. Russia didn't have a proletariat class to rise up and, though Marx thought there was a chance russia could make the jump to communism this was wishful thinking. To try communism in the east was a bad idea as we are all aware of the massive culture clashes which would make this a silly undertaking.

I state the media selected to support Buddhism over communism, which was a dilemma for the American news media. The American news media has historically supported communist thugs the world over since Lenin. I've no preference over the Chinese or the US government, as long as it's what's right for the country. What I originally intended to correct was the Tibet issue. It's sad to see that while every Chinese is putting so much heart & effort to prepare for the Olympics, the Tibetan monks just decided to kill couple Chinese to stir up the peace, and many people use this chance to slander China, or worse, to report false news on CNN, NBC to provoke anti-Chinese sentiment! God bless the US and China.

Criticizing a government and calling for its overthrow have two entirely different ramifications. But you still can not travel to Beijing and criticize Hu Jintao. If I went to Washington and said, "let us overthrow the government," they would look at me and laugh. There are people every day in front of The White House saying the same thing. They are a strength to our freedoms. How many people can do the same in Tiananmen Square before the tanks roll out again?

I think you are manipulating my words. If you went to Washington ALONE and said that you want to overthrow the government, yes, you would be a laughing stock there. However, if there was an organization of thousands of protesters in Washington and they said "let's overthrow the government," which is exactly what the Tiananmen Square riot was about, the US would probably roll out more tanks. Why are u so sure that the Chinese cannot criticize their government? You've never been there.

Well you are so sure Americans can not call for the overthrow of our government by the thousands. How would you know? Were you in America during the Vietnam War? No, because you were not born. Thousands marched on Washington calling for the overthrow of the President Johnson and then President Nixon administrations. No tanks were rolled out in Washtingoton DC, or in New York City where I was during those demonstrations.

The difference is that overthrowing President Johnson/Nixon isn't likely to have any effect on the US govt's structure or ideology. It's the same as running the presidential election every 4 years. However, the overthrow of the Chinese govt would be to replace the Communist party entirely with something else. We can see from the Cold War and the Vietnam War that the US gov does not tolerate Communism. I'm very sure that you'd be in trouble if you called for the destruction of your govt.

Trading with China and Vietnam is working as an economic advantage for the US. It pushes down inflation, and makes things more affordable for the average American families. Plus, those manufacturing jobs are what the Americans don't want (cheap Mexican labors working in the US farms and mills). This is not the same as tolerating China and Vietnam politically. Otherwise, there wouldn't be the constant protests and sanctions against China.
