@Diosade Stupid ! it was against the French colonizer! the U.S. or you do not know where you came you would have liked that your country is occupied by Russia?! No ! So stop saying anything asshole!
@NormanLowell And those bastards, that killed almost a million Algerians in a pathetic attempt to preserve their dictatorship over a land that was not theirs, think they can simply go on living their perfect lives. It's a pattern seen around the world, your nations should have been intelligent enough to realize that soon these people will have the capacity to immigrate en masse, and they are most likely to do it to a richer nation they have the most ties to. Get over it and let them assimilate.
I've always remembered, from seeing this film decades ago, the ironically cheerful cha-cha with lively cowbell accents that's playing on the jukebox in the milk bar when the bomb goes off.
Terrorist bombings happened both in Algeria and France in the '50s and early '60s till France pulled out of the country entirely.
@Vladdob oh really so invading our country and kicking its people out of their homes and killing innocent civilians and torturing them by the French colonizer is justified ?>?? you don`t know what the French have done to Algerians so read some history before judging us
I saw this when I was a little kid - it must have been on public television or something. It really affected me, but it took me years to figure out what the movie was.
@AekAmir yes you are right the french did not respect the wishes of the native population so people had no choice but to take up arms the same thing happened in my country (Ireland) i know the french did much worse to algerian natives and over a million algerians were killed
The French also created a secret organization called the OAS "Secret Armed Organization", which used to do crimes and attacks against Algerians in small villages. And i think that there is a clip in the movie which shows an OAS in the Casbah.
I just have a question about Ireland, against who you were fighting?
Fuck those colonial french fags. I'm glad thhat Algerians took their country back!!

Shocking scenes, which I remember from watching this film decades ago. This kind of indiscriminate terrorism against civilians is never justified.
