I personally just think you just got a bad apple. I'm typing on my Ultra Classic right now and as far as I can tell their are very few faults with the build quality. Yes the keys are slightly off center from the case, but this has to do with Unicomp using original build materials along with newer key caps and plates.
Thanks for the review. I'm on my fourth keyboard (a rather mushy-feeling Microsoft keyboard), and ordered my fifth (a clicky Unicomp) since I started playing with PCs in the late 80's. As long as I can tell I'm actually hitting a particular key, I'll be happy. It's no fun to be typing, and having to hit backspace (with a rather ill-positioned backspace key) just because you can't quite tell if you hit a key.
So I will forgive a bit of fit and finish for tactile feedback
Thanis for the info. Keyboard shopping is a nightmare these days. It's an absurd jungle of flashing lights, marketing hype, and buzzwords that mire any progress.
Appreciate your straight-forward reviews that manage to be brief, and still comprehensive with data that matters.

I'm typing on one and love it too. I probably have to use another one for work or I'd drive people nuts.

If I got one broken, I would bitch.
But damn, I want one just as long as the build quality is better than the standard wal-mart, I would be happy.
