I think it's great of him to have been able to hold onto hope and help others do the same. He is a huge role model. Complete respect for him. THANK YOU JOHN KIRWAN,
ive been down the same track, its not easy but when you have good family for support, it gives you confidence to look foward to the future, the right medication helps you get back om track which you shouldnt be ashamed of because heaps of people are on medication for different reasons, depression is a head thing which people cant see and cant understand not like a broken arm you have a cast on it so people see whats wrong. be proud
Really an inspiration this chap is. His story rams home how much the black dog can affect us and not to take things for granted. But what does not destroy you can only make you stronger.
I just want to Thank John Kirwan for Stepping up & sharing his depression with us, This TV show with Mark Sainsbury talking to John Kirwan about his decision to speak publicly about his battle with depression; should be aired again. I am also working to get better, and like Kilkenny1100 said I also"hope to be as courageous as him" Keep up the Good work J.K one day at a time =)
Read Explaining colours to a blind man. Not only will it enlighten many as to what living with a mental illness is like, it also gives comfort to those sufferers who think there is no hope and that they are alone. It is very informative, sometimes shocking but also very funny in parts. All in all, a good read and highly recommended.
That guy is an idol.

Well done, John. You just scored more points off the pitch than you ever did on it. Good on you.
