taxing income pretty much takes all your incentive to work harder and tosses it out the door.work hard, play by the rules, and be punished for doing so.. but under the current system if you lie cheat and steal you prosper like kings
I like Ron Paul more than Huckabee, but I think the fairtax needs to be implemented. Would this change my vote for Huckabee? Absolutely not. Both systems work, I just think the fairtax would work better.
Ron Paul doesn't understand the concepts behind net neutrality. Someone needs to educate him on it. He needs to realize that not EVERYTHING should be deregulated. I know he knows this on some level, but he has stated in an interview that he does not fully understand net neutrality. We NEED to keep corporate interests from running our public internet. It's paramount to letting ALL the people be heard; not just those with the most wealth. The internet is the only thing we have going for us, people
Obviously I agree more with Ron Paul then Mike Huckabee, but I like them both. Even if the fair tax is the same amount as the income tax, it's still an improvement because
-It is a direct tax, you know what you're paying, and you don't have to file you're tax returns, and tax offenders become extinct
-You're not being taxed on your private property
-It would wipe out the fucking IRS, take away one of the most evil agencies of the government
There should never be a tax on income. Thats just bullshit. go to work and pay tax, No wonder some people stay unemployed go on welfare and make the government pay them!
Ron Paul is the best thing for this country. Wake up America! The end of life as we know it is coming to America and the world soon, I fear. Buy food/supplies/essentials. Money is about to become worthless. Peace.
So bias. It easy to take clips of someone and make them look bad. And whoever made this video is and idiot. With the fair tax, "you" wont pay the same amount of taxes. The country as a whole will. So the top Top 5% don't pay pay 53.25% of the taxes and paying 10% more than the average. You don't get penalized for working hard and making money, it spreads it out fairly, hence the name "fair tax". So learn your facts.
Fair tax is still a Tax on the people. Fair Tax is just another way to hide the income tax. Taxes are suppose to be applied to corporations not peoples income. The fact is the "Tax Money" is paid on a debt that can never be repaid, because it is a corrupt system designed to keep Americans in slavery to the system.

If we get rid of a tax system the American economy itself would go in the toilet, that's why we need a replacement. We HAVE to have a tax system, our four fathers tried to run a country without a tax system and the United States nearly never came to be. The Fair tax seems like the best solution.
Um. We went around 140 years without bullshit income tax, thanks. In fact it'll stimulate the economy - more money (rightfully earned by us) is more money spent.
I wasn't talking about the income tax, but taxes themselves, many want to get rid of taxes alltogether and I was trying to say that can't be because we need taxes. Many argue that Huckabee is replacing the IRS with something that's worse, but we need some kind of tax system. I do not in any way support the IRS but I do support Huckabee and the Fair Tax and I think it'll do great for the economy.
but we can have a huge revenue decrease if we spend less. you know who wants to spend less as president. ONLY Ron Paul.
If we got rid of the income tax we would hve the same revenue availability as we did in 2000. and the income tax is where the government supposedly gets almost half there money, but read some interviews with IRS agents. There is no law to pay the income tax and it is a pocket tax for the agents. And i don't think ron paul will get rid of every tax
In truth I think Ron Paul has an interesting campaign, but I just don't think he's going to make the cut. I'm sorry but I just don't see it in the polls
What Polls? I've been all around the Country and everywhere there is Ron Paul signs and supporters. The Polls you see are rigged to by the media. The Polls I've seen, Ron Paul is in the lead. How do you think Ron Paul raised so much money? The People gave it to him, we the people are a great force when we choose not to be influenced by propaganda.
fair tax is the best tax change to shoot for, baby steps people, there's no way we can completely eliminate the income tax right away, shooting for the fair tax (aka a tax code EVERYBODY can understand) will make our lives a whole lot easier come tax time...
I am donating and passing out flyers for Ron Paul..And i will vote for Dr. Paul..He really does care about Americas future..Peace,lord help us if one of these other puppets win..Wake up Arkansas/usa
The "Fair" tax doesn't resonate with me...it's another tax with a slick name. People don't seem to learn. There was "Social Security" which isn't social and doesn't provide security. Huckabee wants to exchange one tax system for another, Dr. Paul wants to exchange the IRS for NOTHING.
If you eliminate the income tax, you'd obviously have less money for the government. The solution is very simple. Get out of our free trade agreements and start taxing imported goods. We can make a butt load of money at the same time we encourage people to buy American made goods. We would also discourage companies from exporting jobs.
Huck wants to replace it with a "fair tax"...since when is anything with the federal government fair? I like Ron Paul's policy better: Get rid of income tax and replace it with nothing. Our government doesn't NEED the money...we do!
RP's idea is true blue- please think about it honestly! the corrupt federal reserve needs to be eliminated along with its enforcement arm, the IRS. have you watched "Fiat Empire?" we don't need to pay ANY personal income tax. it's unconstitutional. I will not settle for the "unfair tax" compromise. its awful. we have been getting scammed since 1913
Analysis of F*ckabee: While his hand is in your pocket stealing the last cent you have, he also has a gun to the heads of all the countries around the world, saying YOUR NEXT SUCKERS! Scary thing is about this, it's not just him. It's Hillary too. WTF folks? They should be running mates. Ghoulianni would then head DHS. It's all over if any of the above comes true.
RON PAUL is very studied in economics he also serves on the banking comittee. The bottom line is if you don't want taxes than something must go like most of the fat government that's useless. Huckabee's plan gets us no where and it's an old idea just to get non thinkers on board!
Most of the income tax goes to interest owed for our MONSTROUS national debt. By the way, we were hoodwinked by international banking system into borrowing the money for them and paying INTEREST when we could have very easily printed up the money ourselves with NO INTEREST. We should just say,"Okay, you criminals made your billions. NO MORE FOR YOU. We're finished"
the word 'most' is a little strong. The national debt intereset is HUGE but it doesn't take 'most' of our income taxes: 2007 income taxes took in 1247 billion dollars, interest on the nation debt was 261 billion dollars. Yes, a large amount(especially since 261 billion is enough to fund the NASA, department of the interior, agriculture, labor, treasury, and education with alot left over) but 'most'? No, not 'most'.
Fair enough. My mistake. Even so, by your numbers, we are paying 20 percent of our income tax revenues towards interest. Some have suggested that this interest payment is not much compared to what the average family pays on their mortgage. Difference is, at the end of your mortgage, you own a house. And your mortage PRINCIPAL doesn't keep going up every year. Hey, where did you find your info?
I would like to have an intelligent conversation w/ someone on the recent "growing popularity" of Huckster. We know the media are biased, I believe they want Hitlery, and we know that the Huckster doesn't stand a chance. My question is; what exactly do you think their (the media) strategy is? Why are they pushing the Huck on the sheeple? (respond via email) NOTE: Obviously I am looking for a RP support to discuss this with-I am not looking for a debate-so please not Huckabee supports.
I believe they know that hillary would easily beat Huckabee rather than Ron Paul. Ron Paul would steal the spot light. If it came down to hillary vs Ron Paul
Ron would destroy Hillary any debate. He'd take her to Econ 101 just like he did to Bernake. She's too stupid to understand half the stuff in Washington. Want a tax shelter to rip everyone off, she's you pick. Want to fix the gov, ONLY Ron is the choice.
ACTUALLY the media hates huckabee. All the traditional conservatives in the media don't want huckabee, they would rather have Romney or McCain. They talk about huckabee b/c he is raising in polls w/o media suppport.
Ron Paul wants to replace the income tax so that its revenue neutral. Ron Paul wants to ELIMINATE the income tax and forego the income derived from it.
Sorry, if that is true - just won't work. the incocme tax gives us ~46% of the government's income from taxes. You want to cut spending by 46% and we will talk, actually - if you can cut it by 60% that would be better, b/c there is still that whole 'national debt' thing.
It's been proven that RP was speaking the truth: if we remove the income tax and bring our military forces home from all around the world, it would pretty much balance out (we'd be back to the 2001 budget). You CAN get rid of income tax and NOT replace it with another one; it's quite possible...but if we had to, I'd support a constitutional tax for a transition period while there were further fed gov spending cuts.
The IRS is an illegal banking entity that congress never legally passed, like the counterfeiting FedResBank, and the income tax. Hurting small business and one man contract businesses from succeeding and the power to land your ass in prison. Useless, criminal bastards. Ron Paul for President!
Individuals only have a limited time on this earth, our government on the other hand will live forever (I hope). Therefore I suggest that ALL of the money we earn in our life time be spent on our family. Then after death the unused money in our retirement account can go the government instead of paying individual income taxes every year.
Those of you that think the IRS will disappear if we have a Flat/Fair Tax system have a couple of screws loose! It will never happen with either scheme. It will down size within 40 years with No Tax Until Death!
also Huckabee is clueless when it comes to the Federal Reserve. Ron Paul wants to abolish the Fed eventually, because most if not all of the revenue generated by the personal income tax goes to pay the interest on the national debt.
Here's what Huckabee wants to replace the income tax with: "The FairTax isn't intended to raise any more or less money for the federal government to spend - it is revenue neutral."
In other words, he's not cutting taxes at all, he's just changing how they're collected. You might also notice on his website that he's not going to cut spending either. He says he needs a line item veto, but he'll never get it -- Reagan and Clinton wanted it too.
I am from Arkansas and Mike Huckabee never, ever talked about eliminating the IRS before. He actually raised taxes more than any other governor in Arkansas history. My friends, he has stolen the IRS thing from Ron Paul to get elected. If Gov. Huckleberry becomes President then you will find out what a crafty weasel he is just like we already know. You have been warned.
Good post. I am a Ron Paul supporter. With that said, this video missed a point. Revenue neutral does not mean we would pay the same amount of taxes. It means the goverment will collect the same amount. Let me explain.
With no IRS, the goverment will save billion running that system. We would also collect revenue from pimps, prostitutes, illegal aliens, drug dealers, etc. So more tax payers and less expenses equals every taxpayer paying less. I would still like to see them paying nothing. I just wanted to bring that point to light.
A tax that everyone pays is a good idea... but a 20% sales tax is not the way to do it! Also you still have to deal with Social Security! I think NiftyTAX may have the right idea!!
how in the hell are you planning on enforcing that? Fair tax will create a huge black market operation for organized crime. We would then need to create a huge enforcement agency. there goes your billions saved.
Um, when you go to the store, things cost more. How hard is that to enforce? WHY would there be a black market? Used items don't have a sales tax on them due to the fair tax. Thrift stores would pretty much be grab bags for poor people. Also under the fair tax people would get like a 5000 dollar steipend under the current plans.
duh....there will be a market for untaxed goods called a ...duh...BLACKMARKET!
you are dense if you don't understand that. look at prohibition, it created bootleggers. look at the war on drugs, it created drug dealers and gangs. Fair tax is stupid!
"a person who believes that only selfishness motivates human actions and who disbelieves in or minimizes selfless acts or disinterested points of view."
"Hey, the only reason you believe there is a black market is because you are a sad person who doesn't believe in the good nature of people" Plus, why would there be a black market for any item? Manufacturers arn't going to sell in a 'black market', and if manufacturers arn't selling to it items in black markets would be USED items. USED items aren't taxed under the fair tax.
you are naive, of course a huge black market will erupt, and a huge enforcement agency will be created, and then we will have a "war on smugglers" or something similar. It's human nature in an oppressive society to rebel. Only in a free market can we attempt to work these out, and not perfectly there either.
Well pretty much every state I've ever been to has a sales tax; can you point me to all the black markets in Ohio, because I'd like to go buy some stuff "under the table" to avoid paying them sales taxes? lol Don't get me wrong, I don't really support the fair tax at all; I think the Federal Government has all the money it needs. Get rid of income tax and replace it with nothing, but cut back the fed gov.
I love how people pretend to know what they talk about on here, and then they post a conspiracy site link!!! haha, I think we all know what kind of people these are
The fair tax(what a joke) is nothing more than a rearrangement of the income taxes that your already pay.Eventually it too would be ammended thousands of times by Congress until it dictates what you spend $ on and will be higher than current income taxes.Read your history people!!!
"my reading of history convinces me that most bad government results from too much government"......-Thomas Jefferson-......I'm gonna take president jefferson's advise and vote for Ron Paul
I believe I have a better way to collect individual income taxes and would like to have the opportunity to discuss my concept with anyone in the fair/flat tax camps.
This video isn't fair because it doesn't report Mike Huckabees statements in its correct context. I cannot trust someone who isn't fair towards the other one.
Mike "You condition peoples behavior" Are you fucking kidding me! Fuck you Mike! I (and America) do not not want to be "Conditioned" to what YOUR BRAINDEAD self thinks is right for me, and the rest of the people in America. What a scumball!!
please everyone google or youtube eric WhoRu. He has a very simple and elegant plan to end the federal reserve, the IRS and ALL Taxation, federal state and municipal(income, corporate, property, sales, etc etc), without disrupting the economy. Return to the gold and silver standards will not work because the vast majority of the gold and silver is owned by the same owners of the private central banks.
I just dont see how it would work to have no tax at all. we need agencies like FBI and CIA. I just cant trust someone who wants to get rid of people who are there to protect me.
Protect you from what, Islamic extremism? Conspiracy theories aside, I seriously doubt any terrorists would have attacked this country had the CIA not been actively involved with them for the last 30 years.
Ron Paul makes the point that we cannot afford these agencies or the wars they start with foreign meddling or false information even if we did maintain income tax. I hope you are aware that most of our war spending comes from foreign loans anyway.
Islamic terrorism is a real threat, but its not our only one. Dont forget about people like the person who opened fire in a shopping mall this week, or the person who held the Clinton campaign HQ captive with a fake bomb.
The FBI and CIA (among others) have a much wider role than neo-cons give them, i hope you're aware of that.
We can at least agree on sacking the DHS then. I think we should take the redundancy argument a step further though. I could live with other intelligence agencies but I think they should be rolled directly into the military for foreign affairs and into state and local law enforcement for domestic issues. What I don't like are departments that answer to very few people. It becomes very easy for them to be misused as has happened before.
I believe corporations would still be taxed and perhaps a sales tax or flat tax of sorts. The key is using a much more efficient and less invasive way to fund the government and reduce it at the same time.
Whenever I bring this up (about protection) the Paulites tell me to go out a buy a machine gun. They advise that this is what the Founders Fathers would want.
They are raising a trillion dollars to get Elvis Paul elected. Why don't they do this for a candidate that has a snowballs chance.
I feel sorry for you if you believe the police are here to protect. They aren't body guards or security agents. They are here to respond and to clean up the mess. If a robbery is taking place, I'd rather have a gun by my bedside instead of crawling into a fetal position and waiting on the police to get there 20 minutes after I've been shot.
And secondly, none of the other candidates are worth any of my time. They have crooked records, crooked promises, and a lack of respect for OUR freedom!
"I feel sorry for you if you believe the police are here to protect."
What a stupid statement. Every day police officer saves a civilian life. Your quote points to black and white, and I feel sorry for you to have such a narrow outlook on life. Just because a few bad things are going on doean't mean there aren't good things that happen.
The statement wasn't meant to downplay the fact that police officers do protect us at times and save lives. I do respect them, but that doesn't change the fact that many people assume it's an officer's responsibility to protect private property. Unless specifically assigned to do so, it is not their area of responsibility to protect our private property. That's why I do not take chances. The police are neither our security guards nor our guardian angels.
There is an acceptable level of trust the public should put in law enforcement and government but we shouldn't continually turn over every responsibility for our safety to them. People need to be more proactive in being able to handle emergencies. That means knowing CPR, extending a hand to neighbors in need, joining neighborhood watch programs, and not being intimidated by unlawful elements like gangsters.

It would be irresponsible to cast your vote based on who you trust more to end the income tax. Ending the income tax would require, among other things, repealing the 16th amendment which is virtually impossible. Neither Huckabee's nor Paul's plan is practical. Ron Paul's has the added disadvantage of being fiscally irresponsible.
The 16th Amendment allows for an income tax, it doesn't require one, so repealing it would be unnecessary.
Ron Paul is the most fiscally conservative candidate. He has never voted for an unbalanced budget, and he is the only candidate proposing significant spending cuts.
Well, of course, you can't eliminate the IRS overnight, but this is certainly possible. Huckabee on the other hand is essentially replacing one bureaucracy with another. Paul think high consumption tax (20%-30% sales tax) would instigate people to rise up against gov't.
The Premise in this video that implementing the Fair Tax means you pay the same amount of tax is incorrect. Under the Fair Tax, everyone pays, not just the minorty of workers that report income as we do now. This means the average tax paid goes down. Second, since its a sales tax, its voluntary. You could pay $0 tax or twice as much as you do now, depending on what you choose to buy.
That's BS. You don't get how the fair tax would work. What's important is that it would allow American workers to KEEP their earnings! There would be a very high sales tax, of course, but this is what would motivate people to not only WORK (knowing that they could actually KEEP every penny they were earned) but it would influence people to SPEND SMARTER. I'd love a world where there's a lot less jackasses in Hummers driving around, wouldn't you?
Because there are no taxes on used items, and the more you buy the more tax you pay. You want a Porsche, included in the price is 23% tax. You want a Civic, included in the price is 23% tax. Do the math.
I agree with a couple of the post below. Do your research. I have read the fairtax proposal and I think it would work. Of course, no taxes is great but really I don't think that will happen. Either of these guys would be better in my opinion they the rest of the crowd.
The Huckster is "compassionate conservatism" squared. He thinks that an ever-expanding and more intrusive socialist state and illegal immigration are Christian. If you like George W, then you will luuuuv Huckabee go to taxhikemike . org
I agree with Ron Paul on the count that we made a mistake when we went to war but the fact is that we are there and we cannot just pull out of Iraq. My problem with him is the attitude that he approaches the war with. He tries to distance himself from the war instead of trying to fix it and finish it. America needs to follow through. We messed it up and now we need to fix it for the sake of our country and fixing it requires us to be there.
so fixing it being there by what... killing more people? Being there should be politicians, not soldiers. Being there with soldiers only caused the problem in the first place.
Hi Golf. I think you should do a youtube search for the movie
Power of Nightmares.
Easily one of the most important movies I've seen in the past 10 years. Iraq is best served if the Arab league and UN have a stake in running it. America is best served if we aggressively pursue energy independence. If we could get to the moon in 6 years you can be in an electric car in 10!
By the way...I would love a no income tax system but we have to be honest with ourselves and know that it is not feasable at this juncture. I am a firm believer in Reagonomics, but Ron Paul is out of his mind
Of course it's not possible with today's government. But if you shrink it down to the level Ron Paul wants to...you damn well better believe we can afford to get rid of the income tax. It's not our only source of revenue.
Again I have to disagree. Taxes on gasoline, cigarettes, land taxes and all the other taxes we pay can more than take care of our domestic needs.Ron is on the finance services committee and he sees where we could save Billions from lowering expenses overseas. Everything would be done methodically he wouldnt just shut down the IRS tomorrow without confirming the savings first
This is bullshit and slander. How in the hell does Ron Paul believe he can eliminate the income tax and cut the deficit? He is not genuine, nor in the best interest of our country. Mike Huckabee is honest and genuine. He has nothing to hide from us. He has his beliefs and sticks to them. Paul is trying to win over the American people with this "no tax" crap. He could never pull that off and he knows it. I won't even go into his ideas on the war. The context of the Mike Huckabee clip is unfair
firstly he's not trying to win anyone over. He's been saying the same stuff for over 20 years. his predictions on our economy have been right 99% of the time. If you think of income tax like working overtime you can easily see how it can be eliminated.
If you work overtime in order to live just beyond your means you could deduce that without that overtime $ you couldnt survive. The fact of the matter is if you reduce your expenses (get rid of that 2nd car) you could stop working overtime and spend more time w/ your family. this is the same reasoning Ron Paul is using. Reduce expenses then eliminate a portion of your income.
Our economy operates like someone who has maxed out all their cards, lines of credit and works overtime to pay off the bills. The problem is the overtime puts that person into a higher tax bracket and they lose 60% of their overtime hours value because of taxes. Is that a sane household?
This person whos maxed out has ALSO borrowed all the savings from his mom, dad and in laws savings? Not only is he broke but his elders arent yet aware that they are too.
Lastly this guy is also borrowed from a loan shark (China) who he knows is buying guns to pay him a visit if he doesnt pay up.
IF YOU LIKE HOW THIS FICTIONAL GUY RUNS HIS FINANCES THEN VOTE FOR HUCK, GIULIANI, ROMNEY OR ANY OF THE DEMS.
ron paul is not against the sales tax per se. check out the "ron paul on taxes" vid --though he would tax as minimal as possible or use some minimized variant of a sales tax or the like.
I'm a Romney supporter, but Ron Paul has it right on taxes. Ending the IRS would be great. However, I wouldn't mind taxes going on cigarettes like Huckabee and McCain suggest. Smoking is horrible - it just causes health problems.
A "Fair" tax would have to be a 30% sales tax on top of existing sales tax! The "black market" would overtake Wal-Mart, the mafia would flourish, and most people would be buying their goods off a semi trailer in a dark alley! A $20,000 would have to finance $6000 in taxes causing a interest WINDFALL for big banks! Big Banks STILL WIN! Vote Ron Paul for ALL!
You idiots don't get Huckabee's point. We would be saving money indirectly by ending the IRS in the sense that we would no longer have to spend government funds (aka your tax dollars) on the paychecks and infrastructure that support the IRS itself.
The fair tax is BS. It would encourage the wealthy to buy less to avoid taxes and thus hurt the economy. On the last cnn debate Huckabee bragged about how many tax cuts he made, but after the debate cnn pointed out that he had also raised enough other taxes at the same time that he significantly increased the amount of overall taxes being paid. Huckabee is just as shady as the rest.
This is one of the many reasons I started a Ron Paul (not Mike Huckabee) meetup group in my city and have spent the past half a year growing it. Ronward and upward!
The flat or 'fair' tax would actually INCREASE the amount of tax paid by the average person. 'Fair tax' is a misnomer; it's actually a tax to benefit the wealthy, and would break the middle class.
Income taxes are bad, no matter what percentage you pay.
"The Federal Reserve is a private bank run by unelected officials who are NOT required to be open or accountable to "We The People." Our economy & our very independence as a nation is increasingly in the hands of foreign governments such as China & Saudi Arabia, because their central banks also finance our runaway spending". Ron Paul08 (Hope for America)
the economy will crash if the fair tax is implimented. case in point, im not purchasing a new car, t.v., appliances, or anything else that will end up costing me hundreds or even thousands more b/c of this so called fair tax. this fairtax is the samething as the tax we have now. if you don't want a income tax get rid of the spending in Wash.D.C. and tie their hands w/ money backed by gold.
taxing income pretty much takes all your incentive to work harder and tosses it out the door.work hard, play by the rules, and be punished for doing so.. but under the current system if you lie cheat and steal you prosper like kings

The tariff system is what America used until the income tax. It seems to work rather well.

4freedomNOW 4 years ago 2
Most of the income tax goes to interest owed for our MONSTROUS national debt. By the way, we were hoodwinked by international banking system into borrowing the money for them and paying INTEREST when we could have very easily printed up the money ourselves with NO INTEREST. We should just say,"Okay, you criminals made your billions. NO MORE FOR YOU. We're finished"
CribNotes 4 years ago
the word 'most' is a little strong. No, not 'most'.
lacanxx 4 years ago
Fair enough. My mistake. Even so, by your numbers, we are paying 20 percent of our income tax revenues towards interest. Some have suggested that this interest payment is not much compared to what the average family pays on their mortgage. Difference is, at the end of your mortgage, you own a house. And your mortage PRINCIPAL doesn't keep going up every year. Hey, where did you find your info?

jdefee 4 years ago
Ron Paul wants to do away with the income tax. The govt still collects 60% of revenue from other sources.
dinoanastos 4 years ago
They keep running by also reducing spending. We have to *borrow* $3 billion a day from China just to pay upkeep with what is happening already.
Bring the troops home = a LOT less spending. And more jobs, if you eliminate the taxes (since businesses will be able to afford more employees).
jerryjrowe 4 years ago
Ron Paul wants to replace the income tax so that its revenue neutral. Ron Paul wants to ELIMINATE the income tax and forego the income derived from it.
fearonism 4 years ago
Sorry, if that is true - just won't work. the incocme tax gives us ~46% of the government's income from taxes. You want to cut spending by 46% and we will talk, actually - if you can cut it by 60% that would be better, b/c there is still that whole 'national debt' thing.
lacanxx 4 years ago
It's been proven that RP was speaking the truth: if we remove the income tax and bring our military forces home from all around the world, it would pretty much balance out (we'd be back to the 2001 budget). You CAN get rid of income tax and NOT replace it with another one; it's quite possible...but if we had to, I'd support a constitutional tax for a transition period while there were further fed gov spending cuts.

Individuals only have a limited time on this earth, our government on the other hand will live forever (I hope). Therefore I suggest that ALL of the money we earn in our life time be spent on our family. Then after death the unused money in our retirement account can go the government instead of paying individual income taxes every year.
For more info check my video above.

TheHillbillaryShow 4 years ago 9
Good post. I am a Ron Paul supporter. With that said, this video missed a point. Revenue neutral does not mean we would pay the same amount of taxes. It means the goverment will collect the same amount. Let me explain.
godlyfighter 4 years ago
With no IRS, the goverment will save billion running that system. We would also collect revenue from pimps, prostitutes, illegal aliens, drug dealers, etc. So more tax payers and less expenses equals every taxpayer paying less. I would still like to see them paying nothing. I just wanted to bring that point to light.
godlyfighter 4 years ago
A tax that everyone pays is a good idea... but a 20% sales tax is not the way to do it! Also you still have to deal with Social Security! I think NiftyTAX may have the right idea!!
taxsupport 4 years ago
how in the hell are you planning on enforcing that? Fair tax will create a huge black market operation for organized crime. We would then need to create a huge enforcement agency. there goes your billions saved.
bohemianowl 4 years ago
how in the hell are you planning on enforcing that?
ANSWER: The same way individual income taxes are enforced now..... You report your income, pay 3%-5% into your IRA and you done!
Niftytax 4 years ago
Um, when you go to the store, things cost more. How hard is that to enforce? WHY would there be a black market? Used items don't have a sales tax on them due to the fair tax. Thrift stores would pretty much be grab bags for poor people. Also under the fair tax people would get like a 5000 dollar steipend under the current plans.
lacanxx 4 years ago
duh....there will be a market for untaxed goods called a ...duh...BLACKMARKET!
you are dense if you don't understand that. look at prohibition, it created bootleggers. look at the war on drugs, it created drug dealers and gangs. Fair tax is stupid!

Calling you a cynic is the same as saying:
"Hey, the only reason you believe there is a black market is because you are a sad person who doesn't believe in the good nature of people" Plus, why would there be a black market for any item? Manufacturers arn't going to sell in a 'black market', and if manufacturers arn't selling to it items in black markets would be USED items. USED items aren't taxed under the fair tax.
lacanxx 4 years ago
you are naive, of course a huge black market will erupt, and a huge enforcement agency will be created, and then we will have a "war on smugglers" or something similar. It's human nature in an oppressive society to rebel. Only in a free market can we attempt to work these out, and not perfectly there either.
bohemianowl 4 years ago
Well pretty much every state I've ever been to has a sales tax; can you point me to all the black markets in Ohio, because I'd like to go buy some stuff "under the table" to avoid paying them sales taxes? lol Don't get me wrong, I don't really support the fair tax at all; I think the Federal Government has all the money it needs. Get rid of income tax and replace it with nothing, but cut back the fed gov.

I just dont see how it would work to have no tax at all. we need agencies like FBI and CIA. I just cant trust someone who wants to get rid of people who are there to protect me.
Puref1r3 4 years ago
Protect you from what, Islamic extremism? Conspiracy theories aside, I seriously doubt any terrorists would have attacked this country had the CIA not been actively involved with them for the last 30 years.
Ron Paul makes the point that we cannot afford these agencies or the wars they start with foreign meddling or false information even if we did maintain income tax. I hope you are aware that most of our war spending comes from foreign loans anyway.
gimpusmons 4 years ago
Islamic terrorism is a real threat, but its not our only one. Dont forget about people like the person who opened fire in a shopping mall this week, or the person who held the Clinton campaign HQ captive with a fake bomb.
The FBI and CIA (among others) have a much wider role than neo-cons give them, i hope you're aware of that.
That said, ditch Dept of Homeland. its redundant.
Puref1r3 4 years ago
We can at least agree on sacking the DHS then. I think we should take the redundancy argument a step further though. I could live with other intelligence agencies but I think they should be rolled directly into the military for foreign affairs and into state and local law enforcement for domestic issues. What I don't like are departments that answer to very few people. It becomes very easy for them to be misused as has happened before.
gimpusmons 4 years ago
I believe corporations would still be taxed and perhaps a sales tax or flat tax of sorts. The key is using a much more efficient and less invasive way to fund the government and reduce it at the same time.

ladylike1980 4 years ago
I feel sorry for you if you believe the police are here to protect. They aren't body guards or security agents. They are here to respond and to clean up the mess. If a robbery is taking place, I'd rather have a gun by my bedside instead of crawling into a fetal position and waiting on the police to get there 20 minutes after I've been shot.
And secondly, none of the other candidates are worth any of my time. They have crooked records, crooked promises, and a lack of respect for OUR freedom!
mat1583 4 years ago
"I feel sorry for you if you believe the police are here to protect."
What a stupid statement. Every day police officer saves a civilian life. Your quote points to black and white, and I feel sorry for you to have such a narrow outlook on life. Just because a few bad things are going on doean't mean there aren't good things that happen.
wheytoobuff 4 years ago
The statement wasn't meant to downplay the fact that police officers do protect us at times and save lives. I do respect them, but that doesn't change the fact that many people assume it's an officer's responsibility to protect private property. Unless specifically assigned to do so, it is not their area of responsibility to protect our private property. That's why I do not take chances. The police are neither our security guards nor our guardian angels.
mat1583 4 years ago 3

Ron Paul's has the added disadvantage of being fiscally irresponsible.
seanmccloskey39 4 years ago

RON PAUL HAS SAID HE WOULD SIGN THE FAIR TAX.

omar888 4 years ago 5

I agree with Ron Paul on the count that we made a mistake when we went to war but the fact is that we are there and we cannot just pull out of Iraq. My problem with him is the attitude that he approaches the war with. He tries to distance himself from the war instead of trying to fix it and finish it. America needs to follow through. We messed it up and now we need to fix it for the sake of our country and fixing it requires us to be there.

Easily one of the most important movies I've seen in the past 10 years. Iraq is best served if the Arab league and UN have a stake in running it. America is best served if we aggressively pursue energy independence. If we could get to the moon in 6 years you can be in an electric car in 10!

firstly he's not trying to win anyone over. He's been saying the same stuff for over 20 years. his predictions on our economy have been right 99% of the time. If you think of income tax like working overtime you can easily see how it can be eliminated.
fearonism 4 years ago
If you work overtime in order to live just beyond your means you could deduce that without that overtime $ you couldnt survive. The fact of the matter is if you reduce your expenses (get rid of that 2nd car) you could stop working overtime and spend more time w/ your family. this is the same reasoning Ron Paul is using. Reduce expenses then eliminate a portion of your income.
fearonism 4 years ago
Our economy operates like someone who has maxed out all their cards, lines of credit and works overtime to pay off the bills. The problem is the overtime puts that person into a higher tax bracket and they lose 60% of their overtime hours value because of taxes. Is that a sane household?

The Fairtax concept is valid...however:
1. Why replace a tax that is unnecessary, unconstitutional, and enslaving?
2. As Governor, Huck raised spending and taxes many times. He is just jerking the well meaning Fairtax people around.
Bottom Line: Huckabee is no conservative. He is a big government tax-and- spender who can't be trusted.

Mike Huckabee uses the Fair Tax as a foil to hide all his TAX RAISING as a governor.
What a sham.

"The Federal Reserve is a private bank run by unelected officials who are NOT required to be open or accountable to "We The People." Our economy & our very independence as a nation is increasingly in the hands of foreign governments such as China & Saudi Arabia, because their central banks also finance our runaway spending". Don't forget Dec 16th.
We MUST make a big splash on that day.
We MUST get media attention before the primaries start.
We MUST double what we planned to donate, if not already up to the limit.
REMEMBER DEC 16TH for RON PAUL.
Ron Paul is TRUELY for the people, the Constitution and the Bill of Rights.
Ron Paul is ALSO known as the "King of Cutting Taxes" & the "Constitutional Champion"

the economy will crash if the fair tax is implimented. case in point, im not purchasing a new car, t.v., appliances, or anything else that will end up costing me hundreds or even thousands more b/c of this so called fair tax. this fairtax is the samething as the tax we have now. if you don't want a income tax get rid of the spending in Wash.D.C. and tie their hands w/ money backed by gold.
