Umm.. There are actually a few characteristics in Genghis Khan's Siege's:
1. Mass army with a lot of catapults
2. Few days for surrender
3. Tear off a big length of wall and go mass charge
One more thing, as I studied Chinese History, so I think that the full expeditionary army consist of about 10k Mongolian Heavy cav, 1m of conquered countries' army and other militias they picked up on the way.
Don't be surprised coz the great man-power of China and creation of Aparthied.
i lol at the comments below mine as 1. there very childish about the argument, 2. no one actually knoes were the huns originated from as they roamed allot and lived in steppes (they were like bad ass gypsy's), 3. they all try and act intelligent but all end up sounding stupid and 4. the winning place seemed to be asia ASIA's A HUGE CONTINENT the largest continent on earth it spans from Afghanistan to china for christ's sake, if your a human your more likely to be asian than anything other race
These conquistadors were not even close to Los Tercios, the real Spanish army deployed in Europe, not these explorer-soldier. Mongols would not even close to defeat the Spanish Army.
@NimzVici The Mongols came from central asia. However they are not from modern Mongolia. The Mongols swept through eastern Europe, mid-east, and Anatolia. The Turks are a different nomadic tribe whom (before the 3rd mongol invasion in history) settled on the Anatolian Peninsula. The Mongolians who participated in the Golden Horde were not Turkic. Also Wikipedia doesn't back you up either.
@DanMarik The Huns are mongols! It's proven that a tribe of mongolian rode away from Mongolia for the grass and cattles! They claim the grasslands (no matter they are claimed or not) and fight for the grass all the time! Unsurprisingly their decendants arrived northern Europe and roamed the area since the lands are farmed and lived by foreigners! Genkhis Kan came AFTERWARDS and raided the Sassansids(Aficans and Middle East) and took the modern Israel and the other middle east countries.
@Warlords0602 The Huns were related to the latter day Mongols but not close enough to be called Mongol. Which is why now they are considered "The Magyars" or Hunnic. (Mongols derived from Huns btw). Also, you said they had Armies of over 1,010,000 + Militia. Do you know how much it would cost just to maintain that force? Thats a full large settlement each week just to break due... I doubt that they had an army that was that grand. I mean if we added up all the armies that would make more sense..
@DanMarik Well I might be wrong on the origin of Huns but the numbers of the army is real! The Mongols brought away all men and the gold and burn everything down to ashes, some of the captured slaves were even willing to fight becoz of the loot! The Mongols sacked and burnt the conquered cities and spare the ones who surrendered. That's the way they get the hell load of slave militia on their way coz they can be replenish in the next city they conquer.
@Warlords0602 You said this already, but where did you get this info. Even in modern standards a force 1,050,000 strong would just be tactically insufficient. I am quite knowledgeable in this era, and the majority of the cities they sacked were already self destroyed in order to bar the mongols any way of restoring their force. As I have it, one of the largest singular armies assembled in the medieval era was the Battle of Grunwald (39,000 Polish/Lithuanian troops.)
@DanMarik Yeah I was wrong that number was an overall count in all the conquest. The largest army Genghis Khan brought with an account of numbers is 10k Mongols and picked up 5kTürks to invade Khwarezmia in year 1219 coz the Khwarezmian King killed the messengers that want trade rights. He then died in 1227 but the major expansion started somewhere in 1230s to 40s so most people say that he did rise from a small tribe to a fairly big nation but he is only an spirtual idle in the whole expansion.
No he took 2 tumens ( about 20.000 soldiers) to invade the khitan khanate and caused internal revolt and rebellion, and when they met the khan they defeated him at the battle of kashgar. The khan got away though but eventually got slaughtered by his chasers. about the khwaremian empire he took 20 tumens of men ( 200.000) soldiers and split into 3 bodies of men and surrounded the capital and defeated them in battle. After the sah died the empire fell
The problem with having large armies in those days was that they were difficult to command effectively due to its size alone, many generals of the day preferred small elite armies over huge low quality troops armies which were prone to not listen to commands
@DanMarik Well after some further studies I admit that it is quite impossible to do the logistics but I have to say that Genghis Khan did a lot of work in highways and message transporting, it was said that the empire was so big that the messenger took almost a year to go from eastmost to westmost (I think it's mainly bcoz of rough roads and sand storms).
@NimzVici you sir are a wikipedia dumbass wikipedia is made by dumbasses who think that they know what they are talking about but they are not just learn from books
@viet3211 For example in the Vietnam war helicopters were the Americans cavalry so to speak but they could only land in few places where the terrain was flat. Vietnam is mostly jungle so they would have had no choice but to dismount.
Unfortunately in Medieval 2, crossbowmen and gunpowder units are useless on walls. Crossbows act like archers and fire into the air, which ruins the advantage of crossbows. They're both units for open field battles.

@PrinceofMacedon hey do any of the total wars feature Pyrrhus as a general? He was considered by many to be one of the greatest generals who ever lived, despite his disregard for human life.
@armeelane Genghis would win. Attila failed at big battles. He only won battles against unprepared militias. When the Romans brought an army to field, Attila got swept.
I think the developers of total war should incorporate the option to play as Vietnam because so many people are ignorant about Vietnam and other Asian countries
Rome: Arminius of germania vs phillip the great xerxes II vs hannibal Barbarian invasion: Atilla the hun vs arthur of the britons Medieval 2: Ulrich von jungingen vs Nuno alvares pereira William wallace vs harold hardrade Basil II vs odo de st amand Richard III vs joan of arc Empire/Napoleon total war: Napoleon vs sitting bull li zicheng vs Alexander Suvorov Sea battle: Peter tordenskjold vs Horatio nelson
This was a good one, PoM. I really liked it quite a bit. And good job capturing the footage of the Asian/Iberian BBQ fusion dishes. (@3:14, 8:10 in particular)
Since you're doing a bit of Med.2 What If? battles, I've an idea. How about a combat between religious zealots? Namely Salah al-Din and Moctezuma. Just a thought.
I like these What If battles very much. Gives a bit of purpose to the whole endeavor and I like the historical information you add to the commentary. Good stuff.

Just a small bit of information... In Medieval 2, triangle flags represent ranged units, long rectangles represent horse units, and tall rectangles represent melee units. I thought to point it out when you got confused about his arquebusiers and his sword and bucklers. I know you don't play this game much, so sorry if this isn't helpful at all.
You know, the Mongols remind me of the Parthians with their tons of horse archers. Also, you should do one in Empire Total War (George Washington VS Fredrick the Great).
Ver very cool.wish I had

you should do a what if battle featuring Cesare Borgia, the son of the pope and inspiration for Machiavelli's "The Prince."
heuchan56 6 months ago
who would win between Hannibal and Attila the Hun.
bradhuygens 6 months ago 2
@bradhuygens probably Attila. Hannibal fared poorly when he didn't have a cavalry advantage.

@PrinceofMacedon but who would win: Attila the hun or Genghis khan?
armeelane 6 months ago
@armeelane Genghis would win. Attila failed at big battles. He only won battles against unprepared militias. When the Romans brought an army to field, Attila got swept.
PrinceofMacedon 6 months ago
@PrinceofMacedon very true. I wonder what Morale effect Attila's horses would get from elephants charging at them.

I think the developers of total war should incorporate the option to play as Vietnam because so many people are ignorant about Vietnam and other Asian countries
thedeterminator1 6 months ago
