So I've heard this was a decent anime. Just by namesakes though, is it pitting Jews ("Canaan") against Arabs ("Alphard")? If so, it seems to be a really superficial, inaccurate analysis of Jewish-Arab relations... or am I reading way too much into it?

I enjoyed this, some more introduction to...what the fuck is going on.... would have been nice, but heard it was based on a game or some shit so they must be assuming we know the story. That's no excuse for lazy exposition though.

overall, this series was mediocre at best. Yea the characters had depth but they werent really all that likeable. Action scenes were weak as hell, and they seem to kind of force the story on you which would work only if the characters were likeable, but in all honesty I didnt give 2 shits about anyone including Canaan... 5 out of 10 stars

synesthesia is not a special eye power. its the brain that functions differently, a mental disorder(but not really detrimental to health just altered perception) that exists in reality(but less powerful because Canaan's synesthesia is enhanced by the UA virus). All senses are combined, thus Canaan can get information for all senses using 1 sense. Sight can provide information for sound, touch, smell, space, distance. Sound can have color or other visuals(assigned by cognition).

btw less powerful as in people's senses are not as strong in real life. Canaan's natural senses are enhanced by the virus, thus she can see further, can penetrate through objects, can feel at a distance(hyper intuition). Thus, hyper senses plus synesthesia pretty much sums up her ability.
