  • I didn't know Quentin Tarantino played the trumpet.

  • yes they are the best . I agree . and what a huge compliment

  • Awesome group of multi-talented young men! Curtis Calderon is by far the best jazz trumpet player today. Looking forward to the next time I can see them in person.

  • anyone know where I can find the vocal arrangement for this, or anyone has it? It's impossible to transcribe by ear using this video.

  • Hands-down, THE finest vocal group in the world, & The Best 4 Freshmen, EVER. Wolfsky9

  • @Wolfsky9 you are so right . . . they are the best . . . can't wait to see them again in concert.

  • Which one of them is the high voice?

  • @kwadkwad2 The guitarist is the high voice (Brian Eichenberger).

  • To me, the great gap between the four freshmen and the beach boys is--the beach boys do "pop" and the 4freshmen do "jazz!". I love their sound and they are all accomplished musicians!

  • man im so glad they came to my school and played an awesome show!!

  • なんだよ。ロイヤルハントの曲じゃないのね。

  • What guitar is he using?

  • The ultimate compliment from the man who knows, " Flan" himself : The Very Best Freshmen--ever. I agree: the harmonies are so good, they make it sound easy--real talent here, Ladies & Gents Wolfsky9

  • great quartet

  • Please don't EVER take these down or I will have a nervous break down!

  • Gives me goosebumps! Vocals are outstanding! Blend, balance, instrumentals....everything! Perfection, gentlemen!

  • They are all excellent singers/players, but as a bassist, my eyes and ears always to directly left of center. The bassist is beyond terrific, beyond just being superior. He must sleep with that piece of wood in his arms. So when will you guys be in Tampa?

  • Wow! Love it!!!

  • Wow...really nice beat/music but the trumpet player totally stinks! Where do they find these people? Hahahaha just kidding little bro...you're the best and I love you. Big sis. ;-)

  • @lightonahill2011 Curtis is awesome! Every time he's in town I go see him play at the blue star!! Amazing soloist!

  • These guys are fantastic!!! Buy this DVD; you will love it!

  • these guys are excellent, but the best freshmen of all time were the BEACH BOYS!

  • the beach boys COPIED everything about the Freshmen..!!!

  • @jwgn3dxe harmony-wise, yes

but they did something new with it

  • The Beach Boys DID copy The Freshmen. I worked with them when I was singing with The Tommy Dorsey Orchestra around '88 Bob Flannigan and I had few drinks after the gig and he mentioned that when The Beach Boys released their XMAS album, His MOM heard it on radio and called him, saying," Son. I didn't know you guys did a XMAS album".... The Beach Boys sold more records but The Freshmen are all accomplished Jazz Musicians as well as singers.

  • you're right.

  • Day In Day Out - I listen to this marvelous sound - When the days come when our land tires of the noise called hip hop and other unmusical sound, it's much like this that will make it better place for all of us

    Bob Matkins

  • Amazing! I didn't know they were still together. I'm so glad I found this!

  • WOW!!! They are as good as the original FF.

    BRAVO!!!

  • I just heard the 4 Freshmen in person in Newberry tonight. As good as the recordings and DVD and UTube are, in person is full-step above. The artistry of these 4 in person is indescribable. I'm a trumpet player, so I particularly noticed Curtis' power in concert on the wide open pieces. Best trumpet going as far as I'm concerned. Met Chaz at the concert, too. :)

  • This is hot

  • So cool! Sharon :D

  • This is about as good as jazz vocal group singing gets. I saw this version of the Freshmen live in Worcester, MA a couple years ago and they put on an unforgettable show.

  • does anyone know the song by the four freshmen that has the lyrics "the music never ends" in it i've been searching but i can't find it

  • Sure. It's a solo by Bob Ferreira of a song by Alan and Marilyn Bergman called "How Do You Keep The Music Playing?" It's on the Freshmen CD "IN Session" available from The Four Freshmen Society Music mart. fourfreshmensociety dot com/ffsmmart.htm

    ReFRESHingly,

  • It's "How Do You Keep The Music Playing" and in addition to being on their CD, it's also on the DVD, "The Four Freshmen, Live From Las Vegas."

  • Without a doubt, the freshest Four Freshmen group ever! They were just named Best Vocal Group in JazzTimes magazine's 2007 Reader's Poll!

  • We loved them in high school (Coral Gables class of '57) and I caught them opening for the Kenton Band in Tampa in '59. Great to hear them once again.

  • I was at that same concert & recall that the audience wouldn't let them off stage. Stan was a bit upset & said" Theme" to finish the concert. They were great then & still are.

  • Saw them this weekend.Absolutely fantastic! Flanigan may be right on about this group being the best ever.Thank you Bob for keeping the legacy of the Four Freshmen ongoing.Only one reguest~~~~~~~"Street of Dreams" as you guys used to sing it!

  • Great group! Last time I saw them a member by the name of Kevin Stout was playing both guitar and trombone. His 'bone chops were amazing! He has since left the group.

  • I got to open for them when they visited Roseburg, OR and sang with Vince till like 5am learning old Freshman charts. They're really amazing.

  • this is great, this is the four freshman i remember, they do sound like they did years before, thankyou.

  • the freshmen along with the mills brothers are the 2 greatest vocal groups of all time. we've got to get the word out

  • Maybe, if we are lucky, they will be re-discovered. Unless the younger generation is exposed to them, this could be the last of the Four Freshmen. I have seen them five times over past four years and the audience was made up of us grey hairs...absolutely no youth present with the exception of my teen-age grandson, who loved 'em! Is there a plan? Is there any strategy?

  • A Great vocal group! Performing the best (and hippest) rendition of this song you'll ever hear!

Four cheers for the Four Freshmen!!

  • Cool!

  • Wow,wow,wow,wow. Fantastic.

  • I saw the Four Freshmen at Hollins College in Virginia in 1957. A chance look at a cassete in a record shop showed me the way to join the FFsociety and now I have just about all they ever recorded and most on cds. We travel to all their concerts within driving distance and sometimes further. I did not wed the girl I took to the 1957 concert but she and her husband moved next door to me and my wife! Stop what you're thinking!

  • What a wonderful group!

  • The guys sound a whole lot like the original article....great music and great 1950's memories. Yeah, Bob Flanagan was a terrific trombone and sang great F.F. harmony with the old guys....Ross &Don Barbour and Ken Errair.

  • These four young men don't just sing. They are outstanding musicians! I love to sing, but I cannot sing and play. It is a unique talent.

  • Bob Flannigan looks great .... almost as good as the Four Freshmen sound. This song should be considered one of the Freshmen classics. Howard

  • I saw them my first time in Raleigh in 1958 as a college freshman. They have been my favorite all these years. Can't believe it goes on with this group every bit as good. Thanks for posting this one.

  • You're welcome! There are (as of today) now three videos from the Live From Las Vegas DVD.

  • Thanks. I intend to get the DVD. I live in FL so I hope I can see them in Dec in West Palm. Keep up the good work.

  • bought the CD "Live in Holland". Highly recommended.

  • These guys are awesome - simply fantastic.

  • I've been a fan since group 2 in 1957. In their various reincarnations in the 70s and 80s, the unique sound was unfortunately lost. But it's all back with group 22 and their incredible energy, musical talent and showmanship. If you're a jazz fan at all, listen to this group and tell your friends...

  • Not the same close harmony of the originals, but great trumpet addition.

  • How do you say how much you appreciate what these guys have done and are doing? Certainly buying their recordings, but having done that before I was twelve and just after experiencing jazz with Rich, Krupa, Goodman, Ellington and Basie has led me into continuing to love this stuff since 1954. Quality stuff!

  • As a lonely peacetime GI back in 1958 my fondest memory is sitting with a group of fellow "soldiers" at Paul's North End Bar, Pemberton NJ listening to "It's a Blue World" and crying in our beer. They were great then.......and still are.

  • You can't find harmony like this anymore....wonderful...smooth as velvet

  • What a pleasure to listen to these four guys! They are talented, personable, and everything they sing just makes you feel happy! WOW . . . jenny6664

  • I've been a fan of The Fabulous Four since I was knee high to a grasshopper. Saw them live here in New Zealand a few years ago, when they were the supporting act BUT they made the top of the bill act look like amateurs. Wonderful people.

  • SIMPLY THE BEST!!! Thanks Don and Chaz for making it possible for the rest of us to see and hear this fantastic music.... SHARE the JOY!!!

    Sherrie (on the prairie)

  • Listen to this truly magical jazz quartet of Bob, Brian,Vince and Curtis AKA "Group 22" carrying on the tradition of the original Four Freshmen. Go to the website for a list of gigs in your area and gift yourself to their concert.

  • Wow! I've followed the Four Freshmen since the fifties when I was in the Air Force at WPAFB in Dayton, OH. I saw them once, and was hooked, and still am. Terrific music by terrific musicians.

  • These guys just get better and better. I have to agree that this group is the best yet. They now use "Day In Day Out" as their opener which they did while touring with Kenton almost 60 years ago. It gets things off to a flying start!

  • Repeating Bob Flanigan's words, "The best Four Freshmen group ever!!!" You must see them in person. Check the Four Freshmen Society's web page for performance schedule.

  • I have had the unique privilege of having met all 23 past and present members of the incredible Four Freshmen. This group - number 22 - is right up there with groups 1-4. The current - Bob, Brian, Curtis and Vince are truly musical geniuses. We've seen them in concert dozens of times and they just keep getting better! Considering what is laughingly called "music" on the market today, at last here is "real music!"

  • Aren't they just THE BEST?

  • Finally, The Four Freshmen of 2007, as Bob Flanigan said, "the best Four Freshmen group ever." Who could ever disagree with Bob Flanigan.

Do your friends a favor and share this video with them and ask them to forward the link to everyone in their address book. These four young men deserve to be recognized world wide. Compare this talent with what is available on TV. This is talent personified.

  • The Four Freshmen continue to be THE best jazz vocal group out there. Terrific trumpet work!

  • New guys, great musicians, great tradition, WOW!!!

  • What a terrific vocal group! A great jazz group too. Isn't that a fantastic trumpet solo! I could listen to music like this for hours... and sometimes I do.
