  • Saw Buddy at First Steel Guitar Convention in St. Louis at the Chase Park Plaza. Wally Murphy was just speading his wings then.

  • that dude on guitar is playing a t-60. badass.

  • Only two words...........Dave Hartley

  • @SpeedyNeutrino43 David Hartley is fine picker, but can't be mentioned in the same breath as Buddy. The front neck seat up is not known as Hartley or Day. The Emmons push/pull steel guitar is probably still the most used in the whole world. He is the father of the modern day steel guitar. Sheesh!

  • @awnok That'll be `set up` not `seat up`. That's a girly thing!

  • @SpeedyNeutrino43 i vote NO 1 HARTLEY everytime

  • Best steel player ever.

  • Great playing.Doesn't Buddy remind you of Red Skelton's ,Clem Kadiddlehopper with that hat and beard though?

  • I got Buddy's autograph in Lubbock, Texas on July 8, 1966.

  • Fantastic duo! Always loved Buddy, but didn't know about Baugh.

    Now I do!

  • What a great guitarist Phil Baugh was, very underestimated in my opinion.

Buddy Emmons is great, as we all know.

  • How the hell could you not love this?

  • does anyone know what tuning buddy emmons might be using for this?

  • @ryandude1988 He plays the first part on the front neck E9th and switches to the back, C6th at Phil's solo.

  • Phil Baugh was one of the great telecaster players, I am looking forward to checking his other stuff!

  • where are speedy west & jimmy bryant when you need them?

just kidding, these guys are rad!

  • Thanks so much for posting this video.

  • This is like being home again I was at Fort Sill 1968 and again 1970 and 1971 loved it and went to Cameron for a while.

Lawton no longer had what was called Impact zone.

You people are to nice for that. Glenn

  • Listen to Andy Gibson play the stand up steel with Hank III. He's great!

  • Really good but not Leon McAuliffe though!! Nobody plays the rag like Leon!! But I sure liked this too!!!

  • Not to denigrate any of these musicians but If you want to hear a steel player that will knock you out, look up "Davepedalsteel" on YouTube I've never heard anybody play better.

  • hes no where close to emmons skill

  • this is fantastic i love the sound of a pedal steel guitar.turn it up wilma

  • Both are/were great players. The bass player was trying to play lead bass. Must have been a former guitarist.

  • Check out the great Buzz Evan on steel also. One of the greatest. He knows Buddy well.

  • When it comes to the steel guitar, Buddy Emmons' the King of Steel! GREAT vid! :)

  • You are absolutely right....the best ever....My dad, Boogie Sherrard is a pro thanks the the big E!!! >>>Buddy is his allllltime HERO for sure....we have a classic family video that is in our family archives with my dad and Buddy playing about 20 years ago and I didnt realize until now how PRICELESS it is.....Keep on pickin boys!!!!! Keep the STEEL alive!!!!!!!!!

  • This stuff is trippy. I love it.

  • This is still a great steel guitar standard especialy played by buddy and still one of my very favorite tunes.

  • Buddy was just laying back on that one. If he'd have cut lose, he might have even scared Phil, but not too much cause Phil's a pretty hot player too. Marc.

  • @marctrainor777 I knew Phil Baugh, and NOBODY scared Phil!! :)

  • @LLaz1957 Damn straight he was the real deal and made it look like breathing,

I used to hang out at his house when he lived on Barbaree in East Dallas. Billy Gray lived two doors down and Vern Stovall and a bunch of other old Country cats used to get together and jam at Phil's house. Man those were the days I was about 10 or 12.

  • i wish you would add more from this show!! its wonderful
