@SpeedyNeutrino43 David Hartley is fine picker, but can't be mentioned in the same breath as Buddy. The front neck seat up is not known as Hartley or Day. The Emmons push/pull steel guitar is probably still the most used in the whole world. He is the father of the modern day steel guitar. Sheesh!
Not to denigrate any of these musicians but If you want to hear a steel player that will knock you out, look up "Davepedalsteel" on YouTube I've never heard anybody play better.
You are absolutely right....the best ever....My dad, Boogie Sherrard is a pro thanks the the big E!!! >>>Buddy is his allllltime HERO for sure....we have a classic family video that is in our family archives with my dad and Buddy playing about 20 years ago and I didnt realize until now how PRICELESS it is.....Keep on pickin boys!!!!! Keep the STEEL alive!!!!!!!!!
Buddy was just laying back on that one. If he'd have cut lose, he might have even scared Phil, but not too much cause Phil's a pretty hot player too. Marc.
@LLaz1957 Damn straight he was the real deal and made it look like breathing,
I used to hang out at his house when he lived on Barbaree in East Dallas. Billy Gray lived two doors down and Vern Stovall and a bunch of other old Country cats used to get together and jam at Phil's house. Man those were the days I was about 10 or 12.
Saw Buddy at First Steel Guitar Convention in St. Louis at the Chase Park Plaza. Wally Murphy was just speading his wings then.

@ryandude1988 He plays the first part on the front neck E9th and switches to the back, C6th at Phil's solo.

Both are/were great players. The bass player was trying to play lead bass. Must have been a former guitarist.
