Can this work in only one level instead of all? Because it would be awesome if i could make my space level for my hack have this :P I highly doubt it though
Shouldn't the game have an acceleration constant it applies to the vertical speed, both for jumping and for falling? Just find those and multiply them by 1/6, then consider doing similar for Mario's X and Y acceleration. Of course, this would only work for Mario...and you'd want some way to make Mario appear to run in slow motion rather than walking. You could probably have the code that reads his speed for animation purposes read higher values.
I discussed this with him a bit ago. To properly do SMG64 you'd need to rotate Mario so that his axis goes away from whatever planet he's on and recalculate his acceleration relative to the nearest gravitating body. The math would be hideously complex and without it, floating mini planets wouldn't work like they do in Galaxy at all. And then what would the point be?
@supermariorick That doesn't work well because simpler codes just set a constant to the Y gravity, resulting in a bad effect. Also, no other code prior to this affected also objects gravity, which isn't as simples as setting a simple variable.
I would suggest making Mario move a little bit slower. I don't know about you but I don't often see people on the moon running at high speeds. Other than that, this looks cool.
Is there a way to restrict a gameshark code to only work on a certain level? If someone made a moon level, it'd be interesting to see this code be applied to it.
i have a code similar to that, only affects mario:

(i put it on an activator)

If there was a way to tweak Mario's slide, then that with this effect could recreate some classic Luigi physics.

I sense some SMG ideas for in SM64. <w<
Wingcapman 1 year ago
This would be nice if it wasn't for the fact that everything goes up fast and comes down at the exact same speed, instead of accelerating.
Xkeeper0 1 year ago
@Xkeeper0 Yeah, will try to work on that. Probably feasible to get a convincing Mario effect, but messing with other objects may be harder.

Now if only you could patch a gameshark code to one level, someone can make a moon level in one of their hacks!

Yeah, what TZN said, slow fall speed + higher jump height is a gravity feel.

can you(mario) still get damaged by falling down?

this code is really old actually cuz its just a derivative of moon jump by setting the value for 8133b1bc from 4220 to something lower like 1000

Idea: Double the jump height, and slow down the rate of acceleration toward the ground. Would that make for a better low gravity code?
