I remember when Original ceiling fans were still at Lowes for $150 in the 1990s. Now they're rare and cost up to $500 for a brand new American-made Original.
that looks wiered. it has a HUGE hunter logo on it. if i made this, i would have it either controlled by a remote, 3-speed switch, or variable speed knob
I remember having a book that shows all the Hunter ceiling fans made during the days this fan was made. There were quite a few models, including this one, that Hechinger's did not sell.
@Hunter200062010 It was technically Hechinger (as opposed to Hechniger's), but many people called it Hechinger's. Hechinger went bankrupt in 1999, so these stores no longer exist.
The blades were bent up when you got it or something? Almost no pitch/angle on the blades, runs much faster than it should. . Excellent fan btw. I have a Colbalt blue one that I love. These came out in 1993-1995, the Black-Chrome and White-Chrome finishes went all the way to 2003, supposedly. Does your fan have a 4 or 5 blade rotor or is it 5 blade only?
@mrfanman2u No the blades weren't bent up when i got it. It's brand-new never been used. It blows some mighty good air and it is so quiet that u can barely hear the air, just feel it. Yes it has the 4 or 5 blade rotor on it. U got 1 in Cobalt Blue? Make a video of it when u get the chance. They came in red as well as yellow.
@Hunter200062010 If I remember correctly they came in (all were chrome of course) White, Black, Blue, Red, Green, Teal, Yellow, Pale Yellow and I've heard of Gray but I have never seen any documentation on it. I don't really do videos anymore. You're Richard, right?
@Hunter200062010 I think I have it figured out as to why your fan runs too fast. There were Derivatives of the 1930s Original, that used a spinner motor. A couple of Retailers in the Midwest sold them, and they were not a cast iron fan, with similar chrome accents, except they were glued on instead of being part of the fan as the 1930s are. They used the same blade bracket shape with the same Chrome medallions, but the blade brackets were 12 degree instead of 15 degree.
@mrfanman2u i got it 4rom a man who retired 4rom Hunter Fan Company back in the 90s here in my town, Memphis, Tn, and he never used it. When i 1st put the blades on, they were a lil unbalaced and still blowed some air with a lil pitch but i think that i put the blade arms on too tight but i will still check them 4 your sake and let u know about it. BTW: my name is Andre not Richard.
@Hunter200062010 Andre, I am Brian. I had you confused with a dude in Louisiana.
Are you aware of my website? I can't put a link in here, but google DT vintage fans. We changed servers awhile back and had had it hosted on "dangeroustacos" now it's "dtvintagefans" If you find the dangeroustacos site, it will likely take you to doteasy's invalid page thing. I tried to word out the link, but YT won't even let that thru.
The rpms your fan should run are 50, 160, and 200 approximately.
@Hunter200062010 Continued... If this was a new in box fan, I can tell by the angle of the blades, as well as the speed it runs, that the blade pitch is not 15 degrees, and that your fan must have been accidentally packaged with the 12 degree blade irons that the Derivative fans used. If/when you remove this fan to pack it back up, look on top of the blade iron where the support ribbing is, there should be a part# and a set of #s. It should say 15/0 or 12/0. I'm willing to bet it's 12/0.
That is awesome!
