The scraping you hear is NOT the muffler. Goldwings have a bar that runs under the side saddles. The scraping the called a "scrape peg" on the bottom of the footpeg. My dad has a goldwing. His "scrape pegs" are gone and bars under side saddles are scraped up from riding the gap. Awesome vid. Never seen a goldwing do that

If the camera bike is scraping when only holding the cornering pace of a GL1800 then its likely the camera bike is also a GL1800. Footpegs touch first on a GL1800 but its easy to add highway pegs which scrape even sooner.
As for "stupid song", I agree. Much better with natural well-muffled engine music!
@yabbanoname I don't know what kind of bike is filming but the engine noise is that bike. The scraping noise is also that bike. Prolly exhaust or maybe even foot pegs touching. YIKE!
The scraping sound is probably the center stand. If I have my suspension air set at low setting, my center stand usually drags a bit before the foot pegs do. It may be counterintuitive, but the higher ground clearance of a wing allows it to corner better than most sport bikes. Forget about other touring bikes like an Ultra Classic being able to do this, they'd be digging trenches with their pegs trying to corner like this. And yes, I have ridden the Ultra Classic.

If someone in a car doesn't see you, it's highly unlikely that they'll hear you, and even if they do, they still have to figure out where the sound is coming from, what the sound is, and what they should do about it. By the time the car driver could hear the bike enough to actually notice it, the biker would be in front of the car.

This guy is an outrageously good rider and the GL 1800 is a spectacular machine, but 106 runs in 24 hrs?? not sure about that. if he rode the full 24 hrs he'd have to average 48.58 mph over the 1166 miles he would cover. possible? yes. likely? no
@cefox1232 Yes I believe what he did could be done in that time, he didn't do the entire 11 miles of the gap, he only went from the store to the overlook which is 9 miles. 106 one way runs or 53 laps would be 954 miles @ avg of 39.75 mph. In my video (Deals Gap on a Goldwing, cocpit view) you can see my speedo, I'm not going as fast as YW but you can see I'm probably averaging about 40 mph myself. Mine''s just a 4.5 min clip, It would be a grueling 24 hours but I believe he did it.

I drove all the way from Canada to ride the dragon on my 09 250 ninja, what a road, totally worth it, i even ground one of the pegs down i was leaning so far...
Dragon. Best. Road. Period. Everyone leaves something when they get bit by that road, he's left paint and metal flakes, I did as well, but not as much as he - but didn't drive aggressive as he did either.
The most impressive part of all this is, neither of these guys left their lane. THAT, boys and girls is knowing how to ride a bike safely and quickly. I'll bet they impressed more than a few sport riders that day!!!

I drove all the way from Canada to ride the dragon on my 09 250 ninja, what a road, totally worth it, i even ground one of the pegs down i was leaning so far...

Dragon. Best. Road. Period. Everyone leaves something when they get bit by that road, he's left paint and metal flakes, I did as well, but not as much as he - but didn't drive aggressive as he did either.

The most impressive part of all this is, neither of these guys left their lane. THAT, boys and girls is knowing how to ride a bike safely and quickly. I'll bet they impressed more than a few sport riders that day!!!

@PsychoSpiral Why? Because 99% of the guys riding Goldwings canNOT do stunts like this, let alone at the speeds shown here. GW-guy is an incredible rider, showcasing that fact on a bike marketed toward those who want a rolling couch.

The guy on the yellow wing is incredibly smooth for the speed he is riding. Obviously highly skilled. Wonder if he honed those skills on a race track or possibly as a motorcycle officer???
