  • i dunno ...

    looked much better before ...

what were u cats thinking ....

    hideous

  • Who in the world ever thought of the idea of wood paneling in the first place. Blech!

  • @firmingitup Blame the 70s lol.

  • @hellokittycutie2003 I know! I guess their brains were fried from all the drug from the 60s!

  • Love it! wow, you guys totally transformed the room into something else! il probably try this!

  • The color looks great it looks like a beige? What is the color called i am thinking of painting my paneling looking for ideas

  • talk more about the wooden panelling

  • You done a very nice job & it shows, Well done ,I think it looks 1000% better.

  • So many different views on painting paneling. I have to undertake this project, but I'm in a nasty debate with a family member whether to calk or not calk. I just don't want to do the extra work!

  • @ExtendedStudent4Real ive done it and it is time consuming to fill the lines in the paneling but the end product looks so much better

  • Im moving into a modular with nasty wood paneling and was thinking of filling in the grooves first...you mentioned it was a hassle...have you ever tried it?? I like the the finished look of your walls...we are also adding the crown molding to the top , if you have plastered paneling and then painted...does it look decent?

  • @gentryfy I have never tried filling the grooves, but honestly can't imagine the work!! Yikes.

Yeah i think it will look good. I get so many compliments on it. They can't believe there use to be wood paneling.

  • wow it turned out great. Do you have to sand it first?

  • @DrayButt Nope. No sanding. I ending up finding a Kilz primer that has the sanding effect in it .Well worth the money.

  • crazy. your before is nicer than my after. oh well.

  • To answer a few questions-

I used Kilz primer then paint. I did no6t fill in the lines. I had watched a few videos on painting over wood paneling and knew that filling in the lines was just too much of a hassle.

There is only studs behind my walls which is why we decided not to take down the wood paneling for now.

  • @kevamykaikam Wood paneling over studs is dangerous; the whole wall is made of kindling. Painting it will at least cover up the dirt and any marks; it might even reduce the flame-spread rating if it's latex paint. But I'd make it a long term goal to cover it all with a flame barrier like Sheetrock or cement board if it's below grade.

  • looks much better!! Is there dry wall behind it or just studs? I'm thinking about doing the same thing but I thought there was dry wall behind it. thanks

  • thank you sooo much!!!looks gorgeous!!!!i'd have liked a better explanation of what u did,i heard u say u primed it,but i had a few people say to fill in the lines or whatever, and all this extra stuff,do u have to sand or strip the wood first?

  • WOW! I was going to break alll the wood panelling off my walls & build new walls wit sheetrock!

    GREAT idea!

    I might even do that.

Can you write down step by step how you did it & what you used? PLEASE! :)

  • looks great! The fireplace looks so much better too.

  • i really like the color, what was it called?

  • Yes I used Kilz premium

  • what primer did u use kils?

  • i think the wood was nicer.....

  • @jorgecornet Well then you are clearly 60 years old. No offense.

  • @amyvescio

sorry i just believe in classic high quality materials or short term quick fixes that fits with a trend...

  • hummm - looks much brighter...good job.

  • wow, looks much better! Good work
