Thats only because Silva never trained or prepared for a style such as Sonnan or GSP were they just rush you and try to batter him. He played more of a calm position and give clean knockout punches but for sure I know that Anderson silva has trained against that type of game play and will most likely back peddle and jab which is the easiest way to beat that style.

Sonnen is a really good wrestler up there with GSP and Sonnen is bigger and see what happend to him off his back. He gets way to careful when he thinks the fighters have a chance and who has a bigger chance at beating him then Silva. Jake sheilds was doing pretty good on GSP and Sheilds was knocked out in the first round by ellenberger right after that. GSP needs to go back to the old self where he knocks people out to have a chance

@Synetik4 You don't give Silva enough credit. Sure he prefers to stand up, but he's also a black belt in BJJ. He is far from useless on the ground. Sonnen gave him a lot of trouble because he has amazing takedowns, but even then Silva stayed calm the whole time and got the tap. If they were to fight, Silva would know to be alert for GSP's takedowns, and likewise GSP would know better than to assume he's got the advantage just because he might manage to get a takedown. Anybody's game really.

GSP can't avoid action for 5 rounds against Silva, he will have to fight where Silva wants and that makes him extremely uncomfortable. Additionally, GSP has already bitched out against Silva and won't fight him. If GSP was so dominant he would either (1) finish his opponents in the Welterweight division or (2) move up to middleweight. He won't do either

I agree that if 2 fighters throw all their martial arts skills away and trade haymakers standing a foot from each other , one man will get knocked out. Is that want you wish to see? IMO it doesn't take skill to exchange big shots. The beauty of mma is to lean towards your strengths and exploit your opponents weaknesses. Perhaps a brilliant submission is less impression for you that a k.O, but the chess game that encompasses top mma skills is why K1 and boxing are waning sports.
