probably one of the best opening on any film award ceremony, the rich language how it rolls so eloquently from Fry's mouth as if he were enchanting us to a prologue of Shakespeare. Just love the Britain's love of the english language.
This could have gone on for an hour and I still wouldn't find it boring.
By the way - I wish someone would post his final speech when he hosted the BAFTAs just after 9/11 - it was filled with solace, humility and courage...
He was one of the best BAFTA presenters. I especially loved his joke about Nicole Kidman's nose in the hours. Hilarious! Anyone know where you can watch the whole show?
I just found this video; and what a wonderful moment in time it was that I had the delightful honour of hearing the incredible introduction to the BAFTA evening earlier this year! An awesome speech; one filled with enough humour to life the spirit of all audiences everywhere! Bravo!
This speech is much too good for BAFTA. Both writing and delivery are peaches of luxurious texture. And both the writing and delivery are brilliant in a way which is particular to Stephen. Completely lovely speech.
Very nice speech indeed; well chosen words, and funny to watch as well. A shame though that he isn't doing more of these sorts of things - he sure is talented.
@inckognitto Actually I think this was 2006, he did that host that year and I remember watching it on television because I was really hoping for Brokeback Mountain to win Best Film (which of course, it did). He makes a reference to it when he mentions Ledger and Gyllenhaal looking after the school sheep. I'm pretty sure he hosted in 2004 as well.
Wow..

Jonathan Ross needs to fuck right off because he's a useless, unfunny douche on this type of occasion.

He even got a grin out of Heath Ledger.... That alone deserves applause.

I can watch this once every day. I can not believe how serious some actors look. Not Gyllenhall, Zellweger and a few others though.

Heath Ledger R.I.P.

That was amazing! And it showed a bit during his BiPolar doc and showed how he was depressed during this time, so it really shows how well he did!

I saw him writing this while talking about his depression on the telly.
He was writing, smoking and in mid-conversation as he was typing it out.
The fella is clever. Love him.
