  • how do you do the breathing while you do ardha chandrasana?inhale or exhale when you keep the arms up?

  • @FATJOE190482 , first exhale, then inhale.

  • this is actually chandra namaskara. the difference between sun and moon salutations is in the 4th and 7th steps where one will be performing ardha chandrasana

  • Actually this is not a Sun Salutation. This is the only true Chandra Namaskar. The side to side moving Moon Salutation people practice is a recently created series. If you look in some of Bihar School of Yoga's books you will find this practice (with mantras as salutations were once traditionally done) outlined as Chandra Namaskar. Everything is the same as Surya Namaskar but the arms up is added in the lunge make a Cresent Moon shape.

  • @WhyNotJustSee Hi, how about the arms side-up (like plane) found in Ashtanga Yoga? Another question, 0:07 to 0:10, the hands are apart and they were swing forward before reaching upwards. I had learned many styles of this opening forms. Some teachers keep both palms in prayer (or in contact) even in 0:10, they only keep them apart from 0:11 onwards. I notice that would create different flexibility when we are in 0:17. The form here doesn't give complete flexibility to fold.Wats ur opinion on it?

  • Though Chandra Namaskara has some of Surya namaskara posture.s, here everything except backward bend is from sun salutation. Sorry this is sun salutation with variations. Beautifully done though.

  • Surya namskara...

  • This is a different way of doing moon salutation, it's how I learned it..

    there's many different ways :)

I love this by the way.

  • it's MOON yo. go moon. and yes, thank you for posting.

  • Saudação a lua?

Essa é a Saudação ao Sol.

  • hey, this is SUN SALUTATION...please, correct the titel.

  • Different schools, different movements. I study and teach the vinyasa krama of T. Krishnamacharya and his direct students. I have never seen a moon salutation that had chaturanga to urdhva mukha instead of ashtanga namaskara to Bhujangasana. Regardless, I think this is a lovely, soothing yet still a invigorating sequence. Thanks for sharing!

  • This is the sun salutation...

  • @dima9944

It has an extra step that makes it different from the sun salutation (ardha chandrasana)

  • Please check out Moon Salutation with Kripalu Yoga A Guide to Practice On and Off the Mat pages 126-131.

  • Essa é a saudação ao sol!!

    SURYA NAMASKAR !!!

  • This is sun salutation, not moon. But beautiful nonetheless!

  • This was the "morn salutation" my yoga teacher went through with us last night - move for move. She differentiated it from the Sun salutation. So IMO a beautiful moon salutation, exceptionally executed - thank you for sharing it.

  • thank you so much for your excellent demo, the pace is good and really clear!
