  • Batman talks like Winnie the Pooh.

  • great commerical LOL!

  • Can't believe someone actually had a copy of this commercial. That's Mark Sellers as Robin ... thanks for posting.

  • Bruce and Dick love shopping together.

  • awesome costumes

  • You gotta love the early 1980's Superfriends -type BATMAN outfit :)

  • LOVE THAT BIG ZAYRE SIGN ........

  • it was so stupid i loved it

  • definitely their darkest hour. LOL!

  • @Cejuan25 not really funny and Im glad that they pulled the commercial it insulted the integrity of Bob Kane's creation, and I wouldnt be surprised if Kane himself called Zayre and told them to chuck it!

  • Magnificent ad! Too bad they yanked it due to Zayre's copying the Batman TV show without authorisation. :(

Talk about blurring the line between the Batman character and the series!

  • @AarHan3 either or the commercial mocked the TV show and the franchise in general.

  • Great! Just superb, really.

I once worked at a Zayre's, and as a kid I watched the Adam West-Burt Ward "Batman" series. These actors look & sound remarkably like West & Ward, and the Batmobile and graphics are surprisingly accurate for a low-budget TV commercial.

Where'd you get this little, video slice of retail Americana?

  • I recorded it from television years and years ago. Glad you enjoyed it!

  • I once worked at a Zayre's too. With my first check from Zayre's I bought my very first VCR and Madonna's first album with the employee discount at Zayre's LOL. Thanks for the memories lol.

  • if ur reffering to me as bug bunny ,yes i do hav a name its brenen huff!

  • All the times I remember going to Zayre as a kid, I don't remember paper bags. I always like the orange star logos, though. There's a Microsoft Word font called "Cooper Black" that reminds me of the Zayre signs... I always call it the Zayre font.

  • That's the same exact font used on the Tootsie Roll and Payless ShoeSource logos. A compressed version of the font was used on the 1980s/1990s Big Lots logo.

  • @SpongeStorm4000 its a called Cooper Black and was ironically the font used for the Cooper Tire company until about a decade ago.

  • Robin reminds me of Garth and Batman sounds like Elvis

  • They must be jiven me. i should punch somebody in there jijunem!!!!MY Name is.......ZAYRE!!!holy mistletoe batman and robin love me.wtf i am a store

  • Your parents probably named you after the store just like Halle Berry's parents named her after a popular store called Halle's

  • Whoa-ho! That is GAY!

  • This is better than 'Batman Begins.'

  • I remember this...

  • Aww they got a present for The Penguin, lol.

  • Awesome commercial. Thanks for uploading!

  • The costumes don't like the one's in the show...the mask of Batman seems to be too big...

  • Wow- I think Batman's costume actually looks better in this commercial than it did on the TV show...but I love Batman in all his incarnations! :-)

  • Adam, Adam West, West.

  • *sighs* Why don't they make GOOD commercials like this anymore?

  • Not an expert but I work in television and I have an opinion on that. I think it's because of greed, licensing and rights. The creative ideas are still there but will be stopped dead by licensing and the greed of the rights owners. Warner Brothers would never allow a commercial like this now without a stifling piece of the cut. That's what kills imagination today. Entertainment corporations, publishing houses and the RIAA.

  • I hate Warners. Just let 20th Century Fox release the old Batman show on DVD, damn it!!!! >:(

  • If you're referring to Adam West Batman, it is on DVD in a box set.

  • Yeah, but they're all bootlegs. I want to see a REAL DVD set with an actually decent digital transfer, cast interviews, commentaries, and all the other extra little bits that should accompany a gem like Batman.

  • me too! i understand Bruce Lee was on the show, that along would be a fun story.

hay a sneak peak at what a 80s Batman (Adam West) show may have looked like!

  • Here's an idea; Adam West and Van Williams are actually real life friends, so when the Green Hornet episode comes up with West & Ward doing the commentary, who should "unexpectedly" show up but Williams and Bruce Lee! *lol*

    WILLIAMS:

Oh hey Adam. Burt. What are you guys doing here?

    ADAM:

Hmm? Oh, Van Williams. Didn't hear you come in. Burt & I were just doing the commentary for the Green Hornet episode of Batman. Wanna watch?

    BURT:

    Holy unexpected guests!

  • Time/Warner is a bunch of penny-pinching dicks.

  • I remember when there was Zayres in the Chicago area and yes from the day after Thanksgiving till Christmas Eve or the 23rd it was indeed 24 hours ah yes the thought that you could get a cheap coffeemaker for Christmas at 3 am when half the town is asleep PRICELESS for all others theres Mastercard YIKES
