RIP Country Dick and Buddy Blue. These guys were something else to see live, with the original members. I remember a great few conversations with Country Dick Montana at shows, I love this band!
tana died on stage which ultimately led to the demise of the band per se. They were good friewnds of mind and thanks to youtube I can relive some of those cherished moments.
Checking out some Neil Powderfinger and come across these dudes......Never heard of the Beat Farmers - Best Band Name in history and amazing tunes LOve it!! Bad ass
@rmcgowan33 HAHAHA, Its funny cause I don't remember ever seeing anybody at the bars filming these guys either, I guess was as wasted as you were. Good Times I'll never forget
I saw them live years ago in their one and only appearance at the Del Mar Fair. After their take no prisoners, burn down the walls performance and antics, they were banned from ever playing their again. Also, members of the Beat Farmers acted as the Toad Liquors, the backup band for Mojo NIxon (saw him and Skid Roper perform live at Off The Record in Encinitas around the mid '80s
The Beat Farmers are cool, unique and one of a kind. I feel lucky to know of this band. I will NOT get rid of my cassettes until I have all of TBF in mp3 format - they are too precious to lose.
I remember when these guys were a garage band in La Mesa, Ca. I found out yesterday that buddy blue joined country dick montana in the dead zone, R.I.P.
A great band, lesson of it sall appreciate the memories and use them in the now, to avoid the "Giant Suck"/Vaccuum of Complacency, wich is what our collective society is becoming, Enjoy your Miley Cyrus !!!
To be honest I really don't mind Miley Cyrus. Not that I am particularly a fan of her or her music but she seems ok and she has some genuine comedic talent. Plus she has a hell of a lot more on the ball than the typical Britney Spears types.
And I must admit I do find myself lingering a tad bit on the Hannah Montana show when channel surfing if there is nothing else to watch. Some of it is actually kinda funny.
Someone pleeeze direct me to where I can get more stuff on this specific lineup of the BF's? What happened to Buddy? Which albums should I look for that incluse Buddy. Im sold on these guys bigtime only to now learn I'll never get to see them :-(...
Do a wiki search on them....tons of info available.
Buddy died of a heart attack a few years ago (2006??). Country Dick is gone too...
I never saw them with Buddy, but got to see them twice in the late 80s with Joey Harris. Amazing live act. Can't believe the crap that makes millions now...compared to these guys. Yeah...life isn't fair. And the world is a stupid place most of the time.
Saw these guys in the WVU Mountainlair circa 1985 when I was an undergrad. I actually worked for the University as an Audio Visual Tech and had the chance to hang with the boys. My bud from Weidner University made it out too!! What a show. The Beat Farmers opened for the Smithereens. What a show!!!
I do not care how old I get or how much music I am exposed to, this is a classic and have a smile on my face everytime I hear it! I love the looks on people's faces when I am in my car, cranking this and singing along. For some reason, they give me a wide berth at stop lights! RIP Mr. Montana, you, sir, are missed!
Nice name! I saw Mojo at the State Theater in Detroit a hundred years ago opening up for Dred Zepplin! What a freakin' show!!!!!! I bought a concert shirt that looked like a workers shirt with the name "Mojo" on a patch on one side and the other side was as patch that said "Mushroom Farm" . I think the X threw it away when I left her for a 23 year old. My midlife crisis, some guys buy a 'vette, I just found younger women! Sometimes you lose and sometimes you win...BIG! Peace!
best band ever! I grew up in san diego and must have seen them hundreds of times. We would sneak into the bars when we were only 16.. I loved them sooooo much!
LOL! Buddy tries to write an ironic song about "gun nuts". But it gets mostly taken as straight on both sides of the argument (maybe because it rings true -- now more than ever?).
Great Song from a Great Band. It's to bad that the mindless masses never got to hear the boys. I hear the crap on the radio and I keep coming back to the Beat Farmers....Perhaps the best kept secret in music....
What a great song! I never tire of it...brilliant. Springsteen, Alvin Bros, Dylan...etc. couldn't have come up with such a great idea for a song...The Farmers aced it always. Buddy Blue meant business...
