This might be naive of me, but i don't really see how where the ancestors of the Native Americans came from matters! For heavens sake, humans as a species originated from Africa, so essentially we're all africans. Archaeological evidence of human occupation in South America also dates to the same time as the Clovis-culture materials. This suggests that people were living in the Americas before the Clovis people arrived.

It simply posits an earlier migration than was commonly accepted with the "Clovis First" theory, which itself has since been superseded by older finds. The basis that Clovis was influenced by Solutrean culture is also bogus given the fact that Clovis began around 13,000 years ago, while Solutrean ended around 20,000 years ago. And the haplo X which is claimed not to be present in Asia has is shortcomings. Indeed haplo X has been found in Central Asian mongoloids, the Altai.

Its my opinion that Solutreans never arrived in the Americas, yes, but it is fact that Clovis and Solutrean cultures are seperated by almost 7,000 years. The Solutrean Connection theory has its opponents, including renown antropologists James Chatters, Walter Neves, Joseph Powell, to name a few. I don't contend that Amerindians were first, because morphologically it appears that they were not, however, mtDNA samples of Paleo AM. reveales haplo B, C, and D, a south east asian descent.

The dissolution of Solutrian Culture seems to be an established fact. The time range of 20,000 years ago is supported by many archeological communities. This is a near 6,000 year gap between the two cultures, which is in my mind, proof positive that they two never comingled. Also, you are correct that central Asia Mongoloids have had historical contact with Caucasoid peoples, however, recent findings reveal that this mixing didn't account for the presence of X in Mongoloids

@Salsassin This documentary is nonsense, these anthropologist are not molecular biologists. Mitochondrial DNA ( MtDNA ) has a relatively stable mutation rate. However, segments of MtDNA can move from the mitochondria and incorporate into nuclear DNA. This may explain the absence of X haplogroup in most native americans. Second, under rare circumstances, biologist now suspect fragments of nuclear DNA can intergrate into MtDNA.

Biologists suspect MtDNA descended from ancient bacterial DNA.
