Independence been given , but in 1999Basiev (never been elected as President)moved his troops in Dagestan, neighbouring Russian Autonomy and De facto declared war on Russia. Russia used it to solve their Political problems, but Russia was protecting their territory!. Civilians suffered and it is bad, but Chechnya Had they independence, they were not capable of using it preferring they Bravado stile of life.
