I have been studying jiu jitsu for 14 years now and have only had to use it once in a real life situation. Did I attempt to avoid the confrontation? Was I scared? Heck yes! However, my discipline allowed me to remain calm and level headed so that I was able to defend myself properly. I regret that the altercation occurred in the first place, but without jiu jitsu I believe I would not be alive today or permanently injured. Used correctly, this art can definitely save your life as did mine.

@Fallen385 against one assailant who is wearing a decent top - judo. Quick, powerful, and makes you look rock hard. Plus you can start to use it for self defence at orange belt (I know, I have done). Against an assailant wearing no top or a flimsy top - jujitsu. Agains more than one assailant (most common type of attack) - none of them. Floor one of them then run like hell.

Impressed by the holds and the take downs. Attacks with the stick on the other hand... I practice modern arnis and we dont do much ground grappling. Stick fighting we almost exclusively do so this was painful to watch.

JUJITSU is the japanese spelling..JIU JITSU is the portugese spelling that was adapted when count maeda taught carlos gracie JUJITSU. the gracies then concocted their own style of JUJITSU and called it JIU JITSU because they speak portugese because they lived in brazil.
