  • "One more time" is a great work of sampling. I am not disappointed with that. Sampling is other way of music and they really dominate it.

  • this is amazing!! it's a beautiful work you did, deconstructing daft punk songs.

  • i love daft punk and this video makes me sad in away

  • Wao Man!! GOOD JOB, this just opened a new perspective for me, thank U, A LOOT!!

  • cool intro

  • O-o

  • @risenreaper21 im with you on that. I was just surprised and slightly taken back thats all. There songs are still sick

  • la mejor parte es el inicio.... asi se nota como lo hiciste tu... felicidades...

  • @IgnacioCerezoOliva

    ¡Gracias por el complemento! :D

  • To be honest i like Daft Punk alot but i have lost a little bit of respect for them after watching this.

  • @Mrhello1ful

see daft punk samples but they make entirely different songs. yeah there some acceptations but the sampled songs sound nothing like the original. play superheroes and that older one, they sound entire different. daft punk doesnt directly rip these songs off, unlike modern artists. plus its ridiculously hard to come up with new material, you need a small dose of inspiration

  • @risenreaper21 see i can understand 'one more time' HBFS', and even 'Aerodynamic' but 'Robot rock' is just unacceptable.. they did absolutely nothing

  • @Mrhello1ful same :(

  • @Mrhello1ful At first, part of me wishes I didn't dig into researching the songs origins b/c of how you feel, and to be honest for the first 10 mins I felt exactly the same... then I realized I still loved Daft Punk's incarnation's of their spin on the songs and they truly made them their own. I also found a new appreciation of the original artists works as well (a bonus). I also accepted that DJ's (what Daft Punk are) do a lot of borrowed work and give it their own flare.

  • Where the hell is Nightvision ? o_O I've heard of it that it was part of I'M not in love-10 cc

  • @MrSwanLove

I've heard about that too, but since it's not totally confirmed I didn't post it in this video :T

  • I'm a HUGE Daft Punk fan.

But this is why you guys sound like idiots when you say Kanye West stole from Daft Punk. Don't be morons.

  • I wondered why daft punk's songs sounded 50's

  • I have a question:the lyrics of Face to Face are from DP or there are from another song??Please reply,I'm dying in here!! D:

  • @bostero182

Well the lyrics are 100% original from the Discovery album, but I'm not sure if DP composed it, or if it was an influence from Todd Imperatrice. I'll look it up in a while ;)

  • @DJMikeFunk Thank you very much, please let me know when you find it out :)

  • tweeted

  • wow thanks

  • @maegaman

    You're welcome ;D

  • Does anyone know what the people are saying in the song superheroes?

  • @TheKidThatSaysStuff

The original sample is: "Something's in the air", DP snapped the sample and broke "something" so the result was this: " -ooh, it's in the air, -ooh" ;D

  • @TheKidThatSaysStuff

i think it is "come from the air"

  • @Dsquadddd

Well, you can notice from Discovery that the only songs that use a "full loop" are HBFS and Crescendolls. The other songs like High Life, One More Time, Face to face (specially this one) are sampling masterpieces. The main concept of sampling is to create a whole new sound with the base sound you got. I also felt a little dissapointed when I knew their music is sample-based, but when I realized the strategy in DP's songs, I totally fell in love with French House :)

  • @Dsquadddd

    How come :D?

  • In the air!

  • you think this video would make you hate daft punk but I ended up just loving them even more just from the ability to turn some of these really good songs into good mixes. It definitely goes to show that Discovery really is a testament to all the artists that inspired Daft Punk.

  • e dopo luttazzi ecco che mi crolla un altro mito....

  • Really awesome man :D Daft Punk foreva.

BTW to all the Haterz, Daft Punk samples songs yes, but they give credit to most.

  • @DylanProductions5

That's the magic in DP's samplings, they create a whole new concept of the original song and obviously... they create a whole new song :D

  • Nice job there. It's great how they turned these song to something we can actually listen to

  • Thx alot for uploading

  • @HerrHonkoo

    Sure, no problem :D

  • OMG!! Superheroes is an epic song!! Who knew the sample came from someone as mild as Barry Manilow?

  • DUDE THIS IS AWESOME¡¡¡¡¡ FANTASTIC¡¡¡¡DAFT PUNK IS THE BEST¡¡¡¡¡¡¡

  • All is Funk's songs :D

  • TOO LONG WHAT ABOUT THE SECOND SAMPLE?

  • @BLAZE45

    Hmm, good point xD

    Has it been discovered yet?

  • @DJMikeFunk IDONT THINK SO I REALLY WOULD LIKE TO FIGUR OUT, AND WHAT PARTS WERE SAMPLED FOR FORGET ABOUT THE WORLD

  • @DJMikeFunk no i dont think so

  • awesome! :D im gonna do a daft punk set soon!

  • ........OMFG that is so cool! :D

  • This is SO GOOD. Wow - Scholarship. I would have never guessed Evil Woman for Face to Face. There must be other elements in that song as well? xx

  • @shluf

Yeah, actually it is said that Daft Punk used 50 samples for Face to Face, o.o. A little hard eh? And thx!

  • @DJMikeFunk Todd Edward's influence, I believe.

  • @DJMikeFunk

    Thanx for the nice vid!!!

concerning face to face: It's definitely Todd's influence!!!

he midi mapped all those samples with his akai sampler, I guess...And I think that's what he's doin' constantly: sampling interesting sound snippets from literally everywhere.

  • @DJMikeFunk

...And I think that's what he's doin' constantly: sampling interesting sound snippets from literally everywhere. Then categorizing them by key...listening to a song (which he might wanna remix)...figuring out the "right" harmonics and then working his way through a whole bunch of compatible samples (this process might last for hours I suggest)

  • @DJMikeFunk

...Perhaps he can't even recollect the source material from his Face to face project himself. But he surely retained the multitrack of it somewhere (hopefully he'll be releasing this one someday).

...to make a long story short...while you will be able to recreate those tracks from discovery which are mainly made by les dafts(e.g. one more time, high life, etc) you most likely won't be able to recreate todd's face to face.
