No they use to cut it off till leonardo davinci modified the hidden blade to where u don't have to and then to become assassins they just get branded on finger instead

@1pothead Where once a sacrifice must be given to wield the blade, that no longer has to happen. They do NOT cut off their ring finger, they put a BRAND on the finger.

Only Altaïr Ibn-La'Ahad in the THIRD CRUSADE had to remove his finger (as did all Assassins) until Altaïr became Grandmaster.

modifies it so there is none needed
