This is actually my favorite version of this, i love billy stewarts, but there something about this, i love the guy with the deep voice, this is a great version
I remember these guys very well and have always wondered where they went. I totally loved Mal Magee, Shame on Australia for not remembering them in any nostalgic moments. My early Teenage years in Melbourne and pre the disco era, when you went out Saturday nights, these are the groups that played at the local clubs. and included Robbie Snowden, Ronnie Burns, Doug Parkinson in Focus, Russell Morris and John English, Johnny Young, The Masters Apprentices, It was good to part of it.

as an American, this epitomizes Australia. I can't put my finger on what exactly makes it so Australian - the cheesiness? the blond beach dudes? the fact that the performance was a mere afterthought?
folks stop hating this helped advance our music on a bigger stage...Is it like the knight Bros ?? of course not!! is it like Billy Stewart?? of course not!! but you have to admit tt they didn't sound that bad and as you know this was going on a lot back then and at least it got our music into their homes... Plus it was a good try and you have to give credit where its due...
@mrjoshjones1 This is nowhere near the Knight Brothers. They don't come close to capturing the gospel fervor of the Knight Brothers. They should have tried to come up with an original arrangement. When it comes to genuine soul music the gospel trained singer will win each time. The great Billy Stewart did an excellent version, but still didn't top Knight Brothers. Plus their dancing throws me off.
Love reading the comments, helps to understand all things regarding artists, the singer has a voice belying his boyish looks!Great stuff!

The one is Peter Doyle, awesome vocals.

Very smooth. They didn't show a close up of Rob Lovett,(on the left) who was fresh from the Loved Ones (and much later a member of The Fudds).

Were they Trying to be an Australian Walker Brohers ??? Good voices : )

@psychodamned they were...
Our best stuff was pushed back for the 'answer to the US/UK' acts...
The singer in this band was in another Aussie band called Python Lee Jackson who recorded a single with Rod Stewart being guest lead vocalist.

@Imakebeats65 and to think, one of them went on to sing 'If I could teach the world to sing' with the New Seekers... not bad.

Still a great version of the record that landed them on International TV (Aussieland).

Why not just say all three recordings were GREAT?
Take 3 white kids from Australia, one just turned 18, add to that late 60's era
where everyone and anyone was trying to get into the SOUL bag........
what did you expect?
The Tempts, or the Spiral Staircase?
The eptitude of Leon Diggs' voice (co-writer) is far beyond these boys & the Great
Billy Stewart's versions combined.
Far as dancin(?), I still laugh at the fella' on the far left evey nite when I view this
video.

Group was put together to capitalize on the success of the
Walker Brothers.
Love this performance, just something about it mesmerizes me every time I watch it.

Imitation of Soul?
Don't think so!
Don't gotta be black to have it and these
3 boys sure do!
Outstanding version and no female vocals
(the Great Minnie RIpperton) in b-ground
like Knight Bros' version.
Right up there musically and vocally.
