sorry no offense to the man in the video but that isn't xing yi, why all the front weighted stances making him all unstable and the ott stamping, very wushuified.
@ukguy I totally agree with u it looks like wushu performance style xing yi. Xing yi was an army combat form they wouldn't train with unnecessary fancy moves
@ukguy Not just that, there are many small mistakes (e.g. defending hand for pao bad positioning, heng lacks circulation and beng over-extended, never sink his elbow, etc) in his execution which may not seem like much but it shows poor basics and in an actual fight, he will lose out.
Just kidding about that. He's clearly not practicing xingyi as I've ever seen it or understood it to be a martial art. Just the way he wobbles and steps way too far out and stomps with no power (because not an expression of body integration but just how high he lifted his foot), well all that says this is a show form. Still, he put on a good show with it, which was his intention.
XY Wooshoo for sure! Although he is seemingly powerful, the Baji-like stomping is a cheater's way to exhibit power as opposed to power from shen fa only. And the posing also gives it away. XY is not meant to look beautiful, but rather WORK beautifully!
I guess. If you mean fun as in the way it's an excellent example of how NOT to EVER practice your xingyi. >_> Real fun. But that's just my bias I suppose. I just don't enjoy watching wushu. No offense meant to the man in the video.
lol. true true. I dont pratice wushu. I practice traditional kung fu, ...i have a love-hate relationship with wushu, its very fun to watch, but thats all its good for
I think i can do better ha ha ha

Fantastic display of Hebei XY.. Brings out the flavor of the art's various animal forms. Seldom see such precise stances...

C'mon NonFiction! He's not as good as some of the masters you can see on here, but the guy did a great job and it certainly wasn't flower fist.
