  • I really love this video it really reminds me of those short films they sometimes show before a film xxx

  • Awww love this xx

  • Do you work on something new? Or did you leave this beautiful passion? It's been 1,5 year since The Windmill Farmer!!! :-( Greetings from Poland :-)

  • @TomaszBurnat Thanks! I am currently working at Disney, so I don't have any new shorts of my own, but I have some ideas that I'll definitely work on in the future :)

  • Well...that made my day.

  • Love it .....

  • i love the video and i love the windmills

  • ...and this is more proof of the brain-fucking-koo-koo-shit... becase a wind-mill is for grinding-up grains and wheat... to make flower(for baking) ...and then you can mix-up the ingredients to make the dough... and then place the dough in the fucken bread-baking-oven... to bake the fucken bread!!! ...as in whole-wheat-bread... and this has NOTHING to do with racism or with putting Jews/Israelis/Yankees-in-the-oven...

  • Great, great video, but the music is above, in my oppinion! Nick Fevola! really cool work!

  • This makes me smile :)

  • my 18 month old daughter is obsessed with windmills after a trip to a wind farm. i have just found this animation and she absolutely loves it. thank you so much, i'm sure we will be watching this most days from now on

  • Amazing, i don't have words to describe this job, really inspired

  • :) :) :| :( :'( :? :D :'D

  • This is an ad for the wind industry. It makes you think that industrial windmills are natural.

    Wrong, they are not.

They are industrial power stations that will definitely ruin our beautiful world.

  • Bravo. Touching. I loved it.

  • Another touching theme. I really love the stories you tell and of course the different ways you have told them. Great animation once again!

  • good job

  • Very good!!!

  • Wow, amazing. Great job!

  • Why there are 11 dislike O.o

  • @Saltiag0 11 people obviously have no heart and soul of a farmer

  • Beautiful! Words can say lots of things, but I think this ones is the perfect word to say how I felt seeing this :D

  • Truly amazing , great job

  • 9 people don't like windmill farmers.

  • @Flacksh0t Yeah, I know, but I asked about quite new video, not about more videos :-)

  • This is really beautiful I was crying a bit because it's was so well made thank you for sharing this with us

  • Fantastic video! love the concept. Love the music too. fuck @feuyaer! reddit was made to share good content, which this is.

  • This is so amazing. I love it.

  • If someone says "8 people pressed the wrong button" I'm going to reach through their screens and punch them.

  • @calemcnulty If someone complains about people complaining about pressing the wrong button they're just as bad.

  • @iexusuxei I think you just got wooooshed.

  • @calemcnulty No.

  • reminds me of World of Goo but with more detail. Also a little Machinarium.

  • loved it

  • i liked it.

  • I hail from reddit.

  • Well how about that, I had no idea they actually grew wind turbines.

  • this is wonderful.

    :D

  • This video makes me want to kill myself.. This guy fails at windmills. How can you go on living knowing that you fail at windmills. Thank you for making a video assisting in my suicide.

  • This was beautiful. The subtle flecks of water on the screen during the storm were amazing. most of all though was the way in which the background came to life more so than what I was focusing on the in foreground. The little blades of grass moving was also a very nice touch. Thanks.

  • Absolutely Fantastic

  • nice !!!! well done!

  • why u need power? for factories? pc? i lived 6 mos in forest w/o power -was fun too-so why manufacture windmill machines?

  • Oh noes! The whole world's gonna be plagued with that stuff! XD

  • this is beautiful well done! keep it up :)

  • very touching ;D

    I love it!

  • Aww very touching story. Loved it! :)

  • Bello :D

  • this is so beautiful ,it made me cry ......... you deserve more views :)

  • Came across this video by accident. I'm in an animation class learning the basics and watching a video like this really shows how time and effort can make something great. Awesome video

  • When you see who wins those things -- or who doesn't win them -- you can see how meaningless this Oscar thing is. -Woody Allen

This animation and Sebastian's Voodoo should have been nominated for Oscars.

  • thank you for a wonderful experience...I loved watching this moving piece of animation.

  • This actually made me cry a little bit...

  • @xXCH1MPXx And to add to it, I'm 14, I don't give a damn for anything, and I kill things on xbox all day. Goes to show how good this is...

  • I guess sometimes things reach the darkest hour before they begin to brighten.

  • Fantastic art, animation and music.

    Truly inspiring.

    Peace.

  • Joaquin, Job well done on Windmill Farmer. Fine story and animation indeed. To promote and support your art, we have published the link to this clip under the IPC homepage Updates. I cried !

  • I love this! I felt myself get all excited at the end. Your work is fantastic. Well done.

  • :)

  • Touching...I loved that!

  • AMAZING....

  • This is absolutely amazing! It is so inspiring.

  • What softwares were used?? please say

  • @natEmation ToonBoom, After Effects, Photoshop and Maya

  • @zell777 thank you so much. sorry to be a nag, i'm asking because i'm an animation student and i have a project coming up i want to do on ToonBoom. I think your animation style is brilliant! I wondered which bit did you use maya for. i mean at what part of the film was the 3d element? thank you :)

  • @natEmation No problem. The weather vein (rooster) and the windmills (only when they break apart) are in 3d, rendered out as swf files in Maya. I used a shatter effect with gravity/collisions in Maya so I wouldn't have to animate all the little pieces by hand.

  • @zell777 thank you ever so much! you are a star!!

  • My nearly 4 yr old son is utterly obsessed with windmills, suffice to say we have thoroughly enjoyed watching this video countless times since we came across it.

Thank you for sharing such a beautiful, touching animation.

  • @chrisfealy12 That's great! You should show him my other film, Papiroflexia, most kids love it and it also has an environmental message like The Windmill Farmer. It's right here on my channel.

  • Me gusta mucho esta animacion..... Relax....

  • Awesome NICK FEVOLA. I get relaxed whenever i hear this wonderful music, amazing stuff, keep going Nick And Joa

  • beautifuuuuul <3

  • SO. awesome.

  • really nice ending i think life should be that easy to make windmills Help Me and think of ways to shut down powerplants and ways to make windmills!:)

  • Nice touch in the credits re: JKCF! :)

  • @barbcollegestudent Yep, of course I had to add it, they helped so much ;)

  • This is absolutely an inspiring short film. Love it

  • The score was nice. Reminded me of a track on "City of Angels."

The details were impressive. From the rain spatter on the "camera lens" during the storm, to the notches chopped into 1 windmill stem from the other windmill blades. Got a little "scary" thinking those blades were going to chop into the farmers head. And when the new crop of windmills grew up, I was like, "AHHH! More head chopping blades!" - Enjoyed all your attention to detail.

  • @AuntEon Thanks! Great attention to detail. The soundtrack was mostly inspired by Miller's Crossing, look it up here in YT and you'll see ;)

  • Absolutely beautiful...Congratulations!

Found it through Boing Boing! :)

  • Absolutely inspiring

  • 2 people accidentally hit the dislike button.

  • This was an awesome video. I loved it so much & the music was beautiful also. It was unique in every way. Keep up the good work. :)

  • That was beautiful. Thank you for sharing!

  • Wonderful wonderful!!

  • This video reminds me of an old Jimmy Stewart movie called "The Rare Breed." In the movie, JS buys a prize bull for his ranch. The bull dies in a blizzard, but the next spring brings many calves with the bull's markings.

  • This reminds me of an old movie called "The Rare Breed" in which a rancher bought a rare, prize-winning bull. They found the bull did not survive a killer blizzard, but the next year, they found many calves who had his markings. :-)

  • Love this. Beautiful animation, and I love the texture in the background sky. Reminds me of a Pixar short. Really well done.

  • Amazing work. I'll be sure to follow you on Twitter. Look for me @thedawe

    Again, great work. Beautiful concept.

  • @evilmonkeyFG Thanks! I've been into animation for over 10 years, but I started making narrative shorts more seriously about 5 years ago.

  • It's really brilliant.......keep going dude.

  • And the point is???

  • This is so beautiful...

The animation was nice, the story is so touching, I like the moral lesson in this movie... :)

Very Nice work Joaquin Baldwin..! I'm your big fan!

  • @Brainstrain91 Sweet! And thank Google Images + Photoshop for the stolen textures.

  • Muy bueno!!! Segui asi!

  • que buenisimo y emocionante joaquin :)

  • That was absolutely gorgeous work

  • I used to pass those windmills on the road all the time! It's truly something that sticks with you after you see it.

Fantastic film; wonderful animation. Great emotional payoff at the end! Masterfully done.

  • what a great piece of art

  • wonderful

  • A very nice video... But the moral of the story as noble as it may be...Windmills for power requires open spaces which means clearing of trees. Individual solar panels atop of ones house is better...I don't know how they work when it is cloudy. The windmills in the bare lands are a great idea.

  • @MonyMG1959 Yep, you can't depend solely on wind power, but there are a lot of desert areas (like Palm Springs, where I got inspired for this film) where trees don't need to be taken down. The general metaphor is on renewable energy, whichever type it might be. I personally also think that solar is the best way, but that would've made a crappy film ;)

  • Zell, you have came a very long way from your animations, with speacial effects like the water on the camera and with adding simple new noises. keep animating dude :)

  • so beautiful

  • wow this looks really great, what program did you use?

  • @seriouslyWeird I used ToonBoom to animate (all digital, using a wacom tablet), then I put it together in After Effects. Textures in Photoshop, and some 3D elements in Maya.

  • very good!

  • Your videos always make me tear up. I love your work!

I'm glad I got to meet you, you are quite an amazing young man.

  • good work!

  • AWESOME!!! Always looking forward to your next project. This one follows through. Love, Peace

    God bless

  • That was beautiful. :)
