  • Israel beautiful, democratic country. I'm not Jew but I spent wonderful time there.

  • I was there

  • Vae victis,sic fuit,sic est.

  • srael means of Nazism, murder, terrorism, racism, fraud everything

  • ein ort zum gedenken an die jüdischen willenskraft gegen unterdrückung- und ein toller ausblick- einen besseren kenne ich weltweit nicht!im gedenken an Eleazar ben Jair - Amen

  • The funny thing is that these defenders died on their knees and not in final battle to the last man and woman How pathetic it is to try and make this a heroic stand. The real legand was that once the Romans wanted you out , they were going to do it come hell or high water, or in this case a high escarpment. They built a ramp and forced you guys to pull a real boner. Romans 1 Jews 0 end game.

  • @3shacks1house well its seems that history has told us more then what you claim, you see the Romans are no longer but today the nation of Isreal still stands. And Masada is part of this Jewish land.

  • @akseakayaker actually Rome still exists in the Alphabet,we use the Roman Alphabet, many languages trace their root to latin,English words are 60 percent of latin origin. Brittania named by Rome,London found by Rome,Vineyards in the Rhine & France planted by the Roman wine drunkards. What a cool General Scippio was who defeated Hannibal

  • I love this place! It's got magnificent history to it and a majestic aerial view. Sure wish I was able to walk up the path though.

  • its amazing on sunrise!

  • The account of the siege of Masada was related to Josephus by two women who survived the suicide by hiding inside a cistern along with five children, and repeated Eleazar ben Ya'ir's exhortations to his followers, prior to the mass suicide, verbatim to the Romans. Because Judaism strongly discourages suicide, Josephus reported that the defenders had drawn lots and killed each other in turn, down to the last man, who would be the only one to actually take his own life.

  • Hey Yuval012,

you need to learn your history better . the Romans at the time were pagans not Christians... they were idol worshipers Rome didn't become Christian until more than 300 years later. the inhabitants of Masada didn't want their children to become idolaters

  • God did nothing there. The jewish rebels managed to hold out for two years against the roman 10th legion. the reality is that Rome did its job and took the fortress. The inhabitants took the cowards way out and committed suicide. the shame is they murdered their families in the process. The Roman troops when they took Masada left the survivors alone!

  • tonylast47 You are wrong inded God made one of the greatest mirackle here in this place. After EWERYTHING Masada is in Jewish hands again.

  • Crap!! Whose god, the Jewish, Allah, Mars? Hardly a miracle for a God to allow hundreds of women and children to commit suicide. Even so, the true story came out because the Romans found survivors, people who were brave enough NOT to take theor own lives. There are hundreds of Gods and those that believe in them do so fervently like you. However, history dictates that the Romans took Masada after a siege.

  • tonylast47 The mirackle did not happend in 73 A.CE but in this days .This people knew that they would be brought to Rome to die as slaves and the rest of their lives would be worst to them than death.Their were already sentenced to death. However The Romans are gone to schoolbooks, time hade past, but the final victory and the mirackle of God came when Israeli soldiers raised

the Jewish flag ower Masada 1875 years later.

  • Utter nonsense. No miracle happened there. The fortress on Masada was built by Herod the Great, who was hated by the Jews. How can you have a miracle 1875 years later. It's too long a period. And I repeat no god anywhere has anything to do with anyone raising a flag on the top of Masada.

  • Who are you to say that a miracle can't happen 1875 years later? There is one God, and He is the God of Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob. He is the God of Israel. He came as a man and died as a man so that we might gain a perfect life with Him. His name is Jesus and he is coming soon!

  • Hahahahahaha, you are just so stupid. There are hundreds of so called gods worshipped by different peoples around the world. There's no evidence your god, or any of the others, are real. Baiscally, people need to believe in something, that's part of the human psyche and has been around for thousands of years all over the world.

  • Tony, I really dont need your confirmation on weather you think Jesus is God or someone else is God. Believe what you wish. But I will tell you that I know for an absolute fact that Jesus Christ is God. I, 2 years ago was on life support for 5 days. I was almost dead when they put me on life support. I heard Jesus voice. When I heard the voice I knew without a doubt it was Jesus. I knew even more than I knew my own voice.

  • @jkmoto46 Amen

  • If every person in the world quit believing in Jesus tomarrow I would believe until death. If they wanted to cut my head off... So be it. I know what is coming next... I cant wait to die. The next life their is no more pain, no more hurt, only love, peace, and perfection.

  • The devil will no longer make you angry or entice you to hurt someone. Your mind will be opened and you will be able to act the way you always tried too. Jesus made a way to get to Heaven. From the begining there has always been One God. Satan has tricked men into creating their own god because they didnt accept the One True God. Again Believe what you want.

  • I already know and not a soul will ever be able to take that from me. I pray that you will search for Jesus with ALL your heart because you truely dont want to miss what is next.

  • If they wasn't suicide, the Romans was force them to convert to Christiany.

and they felt like i do "I Prefer to die as Jew and than to live as non-Jew".

i was doing the same thing, they fought the Romans untill they came in huge groups and invaded the city.

  • Rubbish. You talk crap. The Romans didn't take on the christian religion until the time of Constantine, some 3 centuries after Masada took place. Make sure you know your history before making ill informed responses mate.

  • @tonylast47

The collapse of Masada was during the roman invasion, correct? Spec. the first roman-jewish war?

  • It does rain there. It has a huge aquaduct system that gathered all the rain water and stored it inside.

  • Where did the water come from? This desert rock looks as if it never rains there. Everything else is mentioned - but not water!

  • you talk shit man. Bet you never went to school

  • ps: ive always thought a fortress was a death trap for any fighting force. its better to remain fluid and on the land! you dont want to be cornered in place that becomes a slaughterhouse!!

  • Quite right. you only go to a fortress as a last resort.

  • why didnt they draw the Romans into the deep desert? not fight them, just kept leading them on as they slowly fragmented from the heat, desertions, lack of food, and water!! a small group can wreak havoc on a big army this way even today! i wish they hadnt done the unthinkable. so sad. it should have been Romans dropping by the dozen from heat stroke! not the good folks on the hill.

  • If they would've drawn them into the desert, wouldn't they need water and supplies too?

  • vdo..........they knew the land better than the Romans.

  • don't be stupid...there are still borders...even in that time

  • sammeke33..........staying mobile and alive is not stupid! and back then it was simple to move in small groups discreetly about on even another tribes lands. so borders were no big deal. i mean were not talking a huge army that draws attention. the Zealots would have been invisible. silent death to any careless Roman.

  • Sorry for that stupid, it just flipped out. But the fact was that they wanted to show that there were still Jews IN israel, so going out of it is no answer...and even if they would've done that...the romans had quite a lot of cavalry at that time which means tthey would be intercepted quite fast...

  • "...hear the amazing story of what God did there." Um. Sorry? What exactly did any god contribute to this?

  • Exactly, what you have here is a zealot not unlike those that perished on Masada. He should think himslef lucky he didn't live in those times.

  • You do realize they were jews not muslims. Jews don't do suicide bombings only muslims. Your ignorance is apparent.

  • Everybody has their suicide bombers. Back in 1947-1949 there were a few jewish suicide bombers. The Jews commiting suicide atop Masada was a perfectly reasonable and honorable thing to do, i would kill myself to avoid crucifiction any day

  • get a life loser

  • One of the most amazing stories and locations in history.

  • Nice video. We just visited Masada in January of this year, it was nice to see everything again with the commentary! One note: There is voiceover comment near the end saying Masada is 1400 ft above the Dead Sea - actually, it is more like 2700 ft (Dead Sea is 1400 ft below sea level, Masada is about 1300 ft above sea level). Awesome place to visit!

  • ive been several times but the last was the best.. We walked that time up the snake pass and i sat on one edge and listened to Pink Floyd while the sun rose! Sheer bliss! I will go back!

  • Wow, walked up huh? That must have been quite the journey. If I had to do it again, I'd want to do the same. I love physical exercise, plus it gives you a better scope of where you are.

  • yeh first two times i went up in the cable car on family holidays to visit family, then when i was 21 i went to live on a kibbutz and they were the ones who took us to Masada and we all walked up. Took a while from what i remember but well worth it especially for sunrise. by the way i meant to say great video too! nice to see the place again.

  • masada will not fall again.

    masada no caera de nuevo

  • Another stupid comment. What do you mean "never"? No such thing. Empires come and go as do nations and even countries.

  • Thanks for a very informative video, well done.

  • I always wanted to visit masada
