bikes don't just fall over. My guess is that the rider locked up the front brake under heavy braking... and fell due to trying to steer out the way at the same time ... just lucky there was no collision, 1-2 mph faster and he would have gone straight into it.
There doesn't have to be a collision between the two vehicles. You only need to prove 'owing to the presence of a motor vehicle where a collision occurs' The collision in this 'accident' is the motor bike rider colliding with the ground caused by the vehicle turning in front of him. It still becomes a collision and the car is at fault based on the footage.
the bike never hit the car clearly and that the bike had to brake hard enough to avoid hitting the car , which unfortunatly the rider sliped or lost balance, but only to avoid the collision.....i love bikes
A further point. IF and it is a big IF the car was actually bothering to signal his intention to turn. The bike rider could have forseen what was going to happen, there are two basic rules, RIDE LIKE YOU ARE INVISIBLE (because to most clueless car drivers you are) and JUST BECAUSE YOU HAVE THE RIGHT OF WAY, DOESNT MEAN YOU HAVE TO TAKE IT ( You will always come off second best).
Does no contact not have any bearing? Car had 80% cleared before bike is in frame. It's difficult to tell road speeds in this vid- that would help the debate.I note 'lonleyofficeguy57' has posted a fair number of different accidents with the same junction. two oncoming lane, two approaching lane. It should not be a permissible turning point. If it is that's VERY poor road design and should be actioned. Send it to local gov Mr office guy?
Slow motion 0:04, He has locked the front wheel out of frame and has his wheel pointed to the right. He would of been fine if he had of let the weight transfer to the front before squeezing harder. Rider error under pressure. A locked (and Spinning) wheel is usually terminal. Look Up, Keep your Horizon as your focus point, the rest is purely AUTOMATIC. By the time you have Thought about it you are usually DEAD, Better to have good habits in the sub-conscious, it reacts a lot faster.
Been riding a long time and agree that thinking takes tooooo long, one needs to react sub-consciously its faster. BUT pause the vid he did NOT hit the car he panicked and washed out the front wheel..
I also ride, and i come across this kind of situations a lot. Hell, i bet any rider comes across these situations sooner or later. I know he did not hit the car, but the car cause the accident. He probably didn't even seen the bike at all. Yes i agree the rider panicked, but... you know it's hard to think fast and react in these situations.
one of the reasons my dad stoped riding because he was almost killed by cars and trucks cuting him of and pulling out in front of him my mum dosent want me riding because of that but got my learners and im gonna ride
Biker must have been going too fast to slow down in time, or wasn't paying enough attention to brake in time. Crash was without doubt a result of applying front brake and turning, not impact with the car. Rider error.
That being said, th car clearly should not have attempted to turn into oncoming traffic as it obviously wasn't safe to do so.
Conclusion : Careless driving by both car and bike. Legal fault : Most likely the car, as bike had right of way.
The person in the car turned when there was a vehicle coming,,,,,FACT
You are assuming that the bike was speeding.....NOT A FACT but an assumption.
So all you KNOW is the car turned when there wasnt space to do so safely.
Ergo, if the car had not turned the collision wouldnt have happened.
People have also commented about it being unsafe to turn there, how do you know there arent signs saying NO TURNS. The NO TURN signs and road markings here are ignored by clueless drivers all the time.
Okay, I've seen many comments on this saying - it's not the cars fault, he didn't even hit it etc etc...
So, how did he fall? I do believe the BMW cut him up making him unable to avoid the car and therefore coming off. Technically, the car's at fault as he was CROSSING the path of the bike - the biker did all he could to avoid hitting it / any other drivers nearby.
@OhMurray The guy on the bike must have been sleep riding. Christ if you ride any you keep yer goddamn eyes open, He should have seen him turning as it began, and he falls yet dosent' even hit the fucking car, and dosen't slide very far so he wasn't going that fast when he fell. The car fucked up but an alert rider should have seen it coming. My present bike has 115K miles on it and it's never been down, and I ride it fairly hard, but in town I'm on high alert, you have to place yourself proper
Xaxaxa are you kidding me ppl?Even though i drive a motorbike i cant say that its the guy's in the car fault. The bike passed the car about 2 meters. How the hell did this loser fall?He passed the car and then fall.Or he hitted the breaks TOO HARD.
do you mean the man with the grey jacket???...i am not sure, but it looks as if he is coming from an other direction. the black car is parked on the left side and the man is coming from the right side of the street before the yellow one even has stopped......
It's true "trumptontriple". Apart from the legal responsibility of the car driver, there is also the attitude of the bike rider... When I'm using my motorbike, I ALWAYS slow down to 20-25 km/h (12-15 mph) when I am approaching crossroads of this sort just to be on the safe side and I have never faced any danger. I even do that when I 'm drinving my car.
The car turns instead of waiting, and the bike was travelling to fast towards a cross junction, locks up the front and hence bins it. Car at fault but school boy error on behalf of the biker. 1st rule of biking,
On second view I see the car driver stopping and returning on foot back to the scene of the accident... Ok ! at least he acts humanely... THANK GOD THE MOTOCYCLE DRIVER AVOIDED THE CAR. HAD HE IMPACTED, HE MAY HAVE BEEN DEAD !
My God ! Are you complete idiots ? You obiously have never ridden a motorcycle... The rider tried to brake and change his direction and he experienced "lowside". The responsibility of the accident lies 100% with the car driver that FLED THE SCENE knowing that he is responsible that is if the incompetent one ever saw the biker coming. THINK ! TAKE LONGER TO LOOK FOR BIKES !
Update your information to this century. That theory is no longer in use, at tarmac anyway - thank god. I bet that he flipped his bike just because he panic braked the front tyre little bit too much and it locked, causing him to fall.
Almost everywhere it is the fualt of the automobile crossing traffic should anything occur.

if you can't see that is the bmw's fault you either need glasses or a brain.
OK, let me break it down for all of the brainiacs here: in a car if someone turns in front of you - you might get hurt.
On a bike if someone turns in front of you, you WILL GET HURT - BAD Or KILLED???
If you'll notice he dumped the bike instead of ramming the car.
Do you all not see how close that was????
Let's see, dump the bike and get scraped up or hit the car and get smashed...HMMMMM
