How long would it take to learn Cantonese or Chinese languages? They sound like very difficult languages to learn for a European?? Would I be right in saying that? I'd love to be able to speak Chinese or Cantonese..Which is Mandirin? Is that a province in China? Canton or Guangdong is a province and people from this place are called Cantonese and they speak a dialect of chinese which we also call it Cantonese. and it is commonly practice at macau or hongkong. Mandarin is the country language for China and a formal language for all chinese. because some chinese dont speak the same dialect and it will be difficult to understand each other. so mandarin is like a bridging language for all chinese.

I am not cantonese . I understand both Mandarin and cantonese. My opinion is that cantonese is so much more soulful -communicating greater range & depth of emotions. Cantonese shows can only be best appreciated without voiceover and with real understanding of cantonese (HK) wits ,sacarsm etc.
