  • Insuperables

  • Been playing this quite regularly for a couple of years now and still think it's brilliant. Get the headphones on and turn up the volume. Great sounding guitar and bass. Respect to Matthew Wright too.

  • its really spiritual and psychadelic.......very good

  • seen these in concert in bournemouth

  • @mikeiddles12 I seen them at the ACADEMY in BOURNEMOUTH twice in the mid/late 80s..Were you at these gigs? One advertised a guest appearance of LEMMIE.It was the tall dancer not THE LEMMIE though!

  • @stevobath I've seen them 3 times at the Bournemouth Academy. Lemmy wasn't at any of them, but I swear I saw Jimmy Hill there, in a Clown suit, and smoking a fat cigar.

  • @KarmicAnarchist LoL ! No. That was me ! :)

  • @KarmicAnarchist Oh & it wasnt a cigar!

  • @stevobath I was being diplomatic. I did trip over Amanda de Cadenet in the stalls though.

  • YAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAaaaaa

  • Brilliant !!! such a cool band - FAR OUT

  • The version on Daze of the Underground is definitely worth checking out as well, my favourite song on that tribute album

  • Thanks Cyconautix for posting this video. I love Hawkwind's mid 70s sophisticated new wave before new wave stuff as much as the more rock Space Ritual album.

  • this is so amazing

  • This version rules, the original is still fantastic but this is just so good and Matt White does a great job.

  • Saw them do this at Fairfield Halls, Croyden, back in 2005, complete with Matthew Wright and Lab coats. Blew me away. Long live The 'Wind!

  • CAN'T...STOP....WATCHING!!!!!!!!

  • Mathew Wright does a good job of singing this, lucky sod wished i could get the chance to sing with the Hawks n Dave, always loved Spirit Of The Age,always one of my favourites along with high rise and many others, long may the Space Ship Hawkwind fly and keep taking us on the great adventures that they have taken us for 40 years and beyond, i have followed them since i was a teenager, had great times at their gigs met many good people from all over the world, Long Live Dave Brock.

  • awesome :D

    ALWAYS AND FOREVER HAWKWIND !!!!!

  • The original version from Quark is of course better but, this is pretty good too.

  • shrooms and hawkind , is it that time of year already

  • nice one!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • What album is this version from please? It's far different from the Quark version I am used too.

    Great upload btw, Hawkwind Forever!

  • @karlmoles65 It's from 'Take me to Your Leader'. This video is on the double disc CD/DVD version. Audio track is on the CD.

  • yesss where's the time....

  • classic wright on, love it

  • quality..i remeber going to 4 gigs in the 90s.the last 1 lemmie came on at the end+done silver machine.superb

  • I like all the different versions fd all the different hawkwind songs. It is part of who they are , were and will be.

  • Cooooool :o)

  • Good Night !

  • this*s fucking spirit of the age

  • In the absence of a future, I'd like to make a booking for a tardis and a wheelbarrowful of hallucinogenics, sîl vous plait. See also, Hausfrauren Experiment's version of this classic - surprisingly apt.

  • I loved the original track on the Quark Strangeness and Charm album. Why on earth did they ruin the memory with this aweful version? They could have at least given Matthew Wright a lyric sheet and a few rehearsals to get the timing right - he doesn't even get all the lyrics out. Bob Calvert would be rolling in his grave - what an insult to his memory!

  • @phildenton That's just the spirit of the age mate!

  • @phildenton

aye indeedy. Know if you can find the original here on utube?

  • awsome work, love the guitar rifts pity they dont pay on within this classic track,

  • they where hiting on some truth. It's a sad spiritual time. great tune 5***** Scott (BUG)

  • gamei kai spernei

  • Noooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo!! the album version is too good to have this diminish it.i

this has about as much edge as a cold fish finger.......

  • great!!!

  • Thanks for uploading a real favorite here.

  • matthew wright just went up in my estimation

  • @gordthelord12 yeah, but when you watch the wright stuff he soon goes back down again, the way he panders up to those scumbags lowri turner n ann diamond and the other despicable lowlife shits he has on as guests, if he wud just stop sliming up to those vile cunts then he might be ok

  • @gordthelord12 did you eteem him previously?

  • my favourite song

  • Still way out ahead of the others

  • fantastic

  • excellent stuff

  • love em , they make me glad I`m an old hippy man ,

  • Prefer the QS&C Album version from 77 any time!

  • MINT

  • I enjoyed this immensely!

  • Who's that Girl at 4.51? She says my name, quite freaked me.

  • ((((wow))), carnt get over how mathew writes voice sounds so much like bob calverts on the origanal.

  • is this Steve Swindells singing lead on this?

  • No its TV present Matthew Wright from "The Wright stuff" a huge Hawkwind fan.

He does a pretty good job

  • ok thanx!

  • Musically, this blows the original out of the water. Incredible!!

  • The visual quality of the original video has been lowered but with increased image saturation and visual effects overlaid on top. Which actually makes it look better (in my view). I don't like the bit with brock wearing a mask though (looks too cheesey) along with the clumsy animated drawings. The video is a nice try to do a HW classic justice.....but it sadly falls short. You can somehow tell it was probably done on a tight budget.

  • It's an easy effect, just google for Luminescence band plugin for Virtualdub.

  • thanks -

    2/95

  • okay...again and again...hawkwind always great:)
