Hey! That is a great looking kit. Its really worth putting time into these sorts of things eh. So did you have any tank pressure problems with the bisson muffler? I have a 120ax and a bisson pitts muffler and its running seriously lean sometimes. I'm thinking bout plugging up one of the exhaust tips for a bit of extra back pressure. What do you think?
Nice job on the Ultimate!! I fly a GP 27% Ultimate/DL50. However I'm currently building a Goldberg Ultimate and was thinking of a 1.2ax. What prop are u using and what nitro r u burning? (5%, 10% or 15%) If you had to classify the power of the 1.2ax on this plane would you say it is "mildly over powered", "crazy over powered" or "just absolutely insane?"
Thanks! I am using a topflite powerpoint 16x8 and pretty sure a 17x6 would be the next step. Based on the fact that sport aerobatics can be done 'easily' at 1/2 throttle I would put it in the insane category. however I wouldn't have it any other way and think the 120ax is well suited! Vertical is alot of fun! I am runnin 10% at sea level.
I How much throttle are u using to obtain unlimited vertical? For this I mean the point where the aircraft begins to obtain a good constant upward velocity but not ballistic? Also how much throttle is needed to obtain ballistic unlimited vertical? In your opinion could you go vertical and do constant snap rolls one after the other without killing your upline? Have you hovered it? If so how much throttle is needed to hold the hover?
I haven't been flying it quite that much yet and only just leaned it out after break in, so yet to try those things with it. I will get unlimited vertical at 2/3 throttle. Full throttle would be your ballistic vertical. I think you could snap roll till the cows come homw if you wanted. I haven't tried hovering but its not reeeeealy a 3d plane. Although I read somewhere that a hover was obtained with 1/2 throttle approx. Just do youreslef a favour and get the 120ax!
Thanks for your input. I am pretty sure I will get the 120ax. The thing is I was considering a YS110. But at twice the price of the 120ax I was a bit leery. Thanks again!
that is a beaty, I have one of this planes, Just finish it, I like your covert. Im thinking in put one of this engines in my. I was wondering if you have try some 3d with it. In this video looks like you have lots of power, I dont know if your engine was broken in already or not. But good power anyway. If you have more videos or can share more info in the plane, will be nice.
Thanks! No 3d yet buy I don't think it is really a 3d type plane. I have it set up for 3d control throws however! i will try eventually but I'm not a real 3d pilot. This was the first flight with the engine only having 1 tank through it....so way more powerful now. I think if i did it again I would use a 1.20 four stroke of 91 2 stroke.
Great first flights Mark and the videos music is cool too. It was a pleasure and priviledge to be along for this maiden flight.
You did a great build, beautifully finished model and you flew it well. First flights are always a nervous time when you put all those hours of work..and money!.. into the air.
Well done bro! Your partner in RC Flight and Uncle, Rob.
nice video. next time skip the music plz. we'd rather hear the engine
