@TheFoxSummoner Generally the smaller the board the easier it is to duck dive. But with a bit (actually took me about a year to master) then you can duck dive boards of most sizes. As per underdonkeys comment + 7' boards take good timing and a bit more strength.
So you answer your question, yes you should be able to.
the 'can I duck dive' question really relates to the alternative: turning upside down on the board. For any board under 7" its probably less energy intensive to duck dive than to do a roll on to your back. The less volume in the board, the easier it is to duck dive.
@underdonkey5 just seen that you prefer to duck dive under 7" (inches). 7" seems a little surf to surf to me!! Unless you are a rodent that has learnt to type?
@SurfTheWaveMovie Yep definitely possible. It does depend on your weight and the volume of the board a bit though. Generally the smaller the board the easier it is to duck dive it.
@ItsPuppyModz It's kinda possible but tough. You're definitely not riding an ideal board. It's hard to say for sure but a shortboard should be maybe 3 inches taller than you at the most. Some boards your height or shorter. If you're just learning I'd stick with what you have. If you have to punch through a wave and you can't duckdive you can turtle roll instead. Do some reasearch on boards if you want to get a new board, factor in the fact that you might do some growing if you're a grom etc.
Im not flexible enough to get my back foot on the tail pad so I just use my knee.
