How can the civilians on the aid ship be the attackers when the ship got boarded by Israeli soldiers in international waters ? Where is the logic behind that ? Think about who the aggressors are here. If people fire tear gas in my flat and then try to enter forcefully I'll try to defend myself with whatever I have. The soldiers were carrying paintball rifles. However, they also carried a handgun for use under extreme circumstances only. Which they were under.
They attacked the boats (killing 9, not 20, by the way) because the ships intended to run the maritime blockade and cross Israeli territorial waters.The San Remo Manual allows this form of attack under the given circumstances: Part III, Section V, 67a.

Once the flotilla's captians declared they were going to run the LEGAL maritime blockade of Gaza. The Israli military was authorized under international law to go out for an intercept of the ships.
Hamas declared war on Israel and since Hamas IS now the legal government of Paleastine that means something. It means the Israeli block is LEGAL

@Mommaddd1 the legality of the blockade is contentious - a blockage is legal in an official war - if palestine is not a state then there is no official war, therefore the blockade is ILLegal. therefore the san remo document (referred to in another post) does not support israeli actions.

If it is true that there were rockets on the Mavi, then why haven't pro-Israeli news channels such as CNN shown proof?
