My high school teachers were predominately women with zero sense of humor. The men teachers I found were a lot more easy to relate to and made something as awful as math enjoyable
Still...my "Velja" Approach to schooling idea has something important which I think would make the education experience even better.
Teachers are allowed and encouraged to use school facilities too, to explore their own learning.
I'm a 29 year old adult and it is very appealing to me to be preparing food in the kitchen, doing experiments in the chem lab, or shooting hoops when not teaching.
Because it is a cult, forcing Steiner's false beliefs on students. Waldorf students are under-educated and delusional as a result. They cannot compete in the real world when they leave the strange alternative reality the cult creates. Waldorf therefore leads to personal failures and wasted lives. Governemnets must realize this danger and stop Waldorf education and ban the Steinerian movement.
@bolshevikML Have you considered good as well as bad? Or, in a string of thoughts, one possibly errs in choice of objects to contrast. Inherent in ideas is [contrast].
Competition seperates humanity. How can we only strive to "be the best" and then expeect that we can work hand in hand in our fellow man? Competition always feeds the ego whereas genuine recognition, unity and cooperation will always feed the soul and heart. In doing so these well rounded individual will aid humanity in ways we only dreamed of. World peace is that much closer if we recognize that unity is key not seperation and competition.

waldorf schools are very open i was a waldorf student and had many different friends from many different back grounds im not sure why you didnt see a bigger mix in this video but i have to stress it is not an intentional thing!!!!
According to Rudolf Stiener white people are superior because their genes are more advanced. He also believed that blonde hair bestowed intelligence. Hope that answers your question.
AllySachs your thought on Steiner are incorrect. I have both a Waldorf teachers credential and a public school credential, and because I have seen both sides, when my own daughter was to go to school I choose the Waldorf experience for her. She went to a Waldorf School from K - 12, and is now 22 and becoming an architect.
So if you went through Waldorf training are you an Anthroposophist or do you even agree with Anthroposochical ideas?
Also, my thoughts on Rudolf Steiner are based off of information and HIS teachings. So if you believe that I'm wrong...please explain what I am wrong about and why. Back up your statement.
. If the tables were turned, whatever race would be leading would be seen as the more suoerior race as in the Anciant Egytion times! As for the whole blonde thing, get real would you! Not race biased in anyway because I'm mixed but people need to wake up to the truth instead of the lie they would like to believe.
It was not that long since blacks were not even allowed to be educated in schools so straight away you have generations worh of lead on education. That is the only reason why anyone would think that about whites, not for any other reason
AllySachs what nonsence. Whites are not superior at all (& I'm part white). Beause whites rule at present thanks to all of the blood they had to shed to get there; of course the system would be designed to favour them. All of the greats who have lived got there superior knowledge about the world and how it works through Anciant Egytion teachings!
Other nations have been busy for the past 100's & 100's of years rebuiding what the whites destroyed of them, during which time all the whites have had to focus on is developing themselves.
AllySachs Realized you said, that was R S's beleif so my msg not dirrectly aimed at you. But a man would believe something like that in the world he was living in back then. RuthieOfMaadi, A Waldorf School is many colors all over the world, depending on where the school is, and if it's a private school or a charter school, just like all other private schools. Schools look to be multicultural, and it is within it's curriculum, depending on where the school is located.
As always, it's up to the individual to be multicultural.
If you're interested, really, find a local Waldorf school in your area and take a tour.
he main point I would make about Steiner education , is that the schools are pedaled- by things like this video- as arts based, liberal, progressive schools. They aren't- they rigidly stick to the clairvoyant ramblings of a guru- and the Steiner school attendees follow these- rather like a cult.
As to waldorf being about independent thinking- EVERYTHING is copied from the board, by one teacher, for eight years, all the art is copied and the same, no text books let alone computer, film- just one teacher- who is spouting verbatim, the words and thoughts of Rudolph Steiner- alot of whose ideas are completely bonkers- "blonde hair bestows intelligence", gnomes are true life forms.....ever read Steiner? it's difficult and alot of it quite mad.
your opinions are yours to have but they are just that, an opinion! I wonder if you care so much about this if you go from home to home preaching about how bad it is. seriously, get over it.
Many people go through steiner education without a clue that it is rooted in anthroposophy- which is a self-named esoteric organisation- only a few have full knowlege. They believe all humans have the ability to communicate with the spirit world- that angels and gnomes are true life forms and racist views about the aryan race. It has some good aspects- but by being secretive it lays itself open to being labeled a cult.
Steiner was an initiate who believed it was time to let everyone have access to esoteric knowledge previously only available to priests and suchlike. Only the little ones have the gnomes talked about to them because they live in fairyland and are innocent. Would you tell them there's no father Christmas?
The root and core of Steiner Waldorf is anthroposophy- a spiritual science/religion,;their main educational purpose is to help children re-incarnate for the general good of mankind- for humanity to reach higher spiritual levels. They are secretive and reluctant to talk about this openly.
Elin48: From what I observed from your statements, I'm disappointed of you as a teacher. Your assumption that I am a "disgruntled student" who wasn't given the freedom to choose his school experience indicates that you are prone to jump to conclusions despite that they may be faulty. Know this; I chose to stay in public school. To be honest, I would not want to hire you as a teacher. You should be fired from public school so you can go teach your cult ideologies at Green Meadow Waldorf School.
Besides, if I wasn't an independent thinker, then I would probably believe anything that my teacher told me. Since you're a teacher, you should know better, hypocrite.
If children cannot face the cruel reality of life and cannot tolerate order and discipline, then Waldorf education is their cup of tea. But later they're going to graduate having a hard time coping with the industrial society.
Do you have a student? I do not find what you say as correct...for I do have a child, plus I am also a teacher, but not in a Waldorf School.
I had been teaching in the inner city public schools prior to my daughter coming to the age of school, and when she did, I decided that the "real" world of our local public school would be too harsh.
Indeed, I sent her to a Waldorf School K - 12, she is now 21 working to become an architect.
Yes, the "local public school would be too harsh" for your daughter, so you sent her to an Utopian school free of the harsh reality. Tell me, if Waldorf education encourages free thinking, then why do they ostracize kids who wear designer clothing? Why would they tell that kids' parents that maybe they shouldn't enroll their children to Waldorf school? Seems close-minded to me.
They don't have mobile phones in school either. Have you ever heard of peer pressure? Kids get mugged these days for items of clothing. What's wrong with protecting your children from rape, murder and people trying to sell you their shit. Why are you calling Elin48 a hypocrite? And why have you decided to go to every Steiner YouTube post and leave stupid comments about your precious designer clothing?
It really surprises me that you equate free thinking with designer clothing. Surely this is the exact opposite of Free thinking. Also close-minded on your behalf for not seeing the truth.
I attended several different schools one of which was Waldorf and I must say that the things I experienced there were much harsher than anything I have ever experienced in any other school.
In case you want to defend that by saying that bad things happen everywhere, don't bother, because I know of many other individuals from many other Waldorf schools who shared similar experience. To similar to be coincidental.
So you want to expose little kids to the 'cruel reality of life?' You really aren't a parent. They live in an industrial society, what's not to get? Just before Christmas someone who was experiencing roadrage threatened to kill my children who were in the car at the time. Is that cruel and industrial enough for you?

I don't know,
I just feel that encouraging the teachers to be pursuing their own learning as well turns the school into a "place of learning",
one which wants the teachers to grow too.
I know if I feel that I am growing as well,
I am more inspired to help my students grow too.
And if a student finds my project interesting, they can learn by helping me with it, and feel the magnetic pull of my own excitement and enthusiasm.
Why must becoming an adult mean becoming...rather dull?
