Waldorf did not work for me, I'm now in the USNSCC and am applying to the USNA next year, none of this is thanks to waldorf school.

Still...my "Velja" Approach to schooling idea has something important which I think would make the education experience even better.

Teachers are allowed and encouraged to use school facilities too, to explore their own learning.

I'm a 29 year old adult and it is very appealing to me to be preparing food in the kitchen, doing experiments in the chem lab, or shooting hoops when not teaching.

I just feel that encouraging the teachers to be pursuing their own learning as well turns the school into a "place of learning",

one which wants the teachers to grow too.

I know if I feel that I am growing as well,

I am more inspired to help my students grow too.

And if a student finds my project interesting, they can learn by helping me with it, and feel the magnetic pull of my own excitement and enthusiasm.

Why must becoming an adult mean becoming...rather dull?

They cannot compete in the real world when they leave the strange alternative reality the cult creates. Waldorf therefore leads to personal failures and wasted lives. Competition seperates humanity. How can we only strive to "be the best" and then expeect that we can work hand in hand in our fellow man? Competition always feeds the ego whereas genuine recognition, unity and cooperation will always feed the soul and heart. What are you talking about?? This is not about being "a" colour! Waldorf is great education! I was teached in a "normal" school, and now, 36 years later, I am finally becoming a Waldorfschool teacher. It brightens my life! I will be a balanced, healthy and creative teacher! There is polution, wrong food, children aren't able to express themselves anymore, artwise, socially, intellectually. I have both a Waldorf teachers credential and a public school credential, and because I have seen both sides, when my own daughter was to go to school I choose the Waldorf experience for her. She went to a Waldorf School from K - 12, and is now 22 and becoming an architect.

RuthieOfMaadi, A Waldorf School is many colors all over the world, depending on where the school is, and if it's a private school or a charter school, just like all other private schools. Schools look to be multicultural, and it is within it's curriculum, depending on where the school is located.

As always, it's up to the individual to be multicultural.

If you're interested, really, find a local Waldorf school in your area and take a tour.

I'm going to the oldest Waldorf school in the Netherlands, in The Hague, and I think it's a great way of education.

I love to learn English, German, French, Spanish, music and the art-subjects.

he main point I would make about Steiner education , is that the schools are pedaled- by things like this video- as arts based, liberal, progressive schools. They aren't- they rigidly stick to the clairvoyant ramblings of a guru- and the Steiner school attendees follow these- rather like a cult.

Many people go through steiner education without a clue that it is rooted in anthroposophy- which is a self-named esoteric organisation- only a few have full knowlege. They believe all humans have the ability to communicate with the spirit world- that angels and gnomes are true life forms and racist views about the aryan race. It has some good aspects- but by being secretive it lays itself open to being labeled a cult.

I attended several different schools one of which was Waldorf and I must say that the things I experienced there were much harsher than anything I have ever experienced in any other school.

In case you want to defend that by saying that bad things happen everywhere, don't bother, because I know of many other individuals from many other Waldorf schools who shared similar experience. To similar to be coincidental.

Steiner Waldorf don't believe the Darwinian theory of evolution- they don't think we evolved from animals but from the mythical lands of Atlantis and Lemuria. They are as bonkers as creationists.

Waldorf don't 'teach' Lemuria, the four elements, etc... they teach that the fact that those teachings exist, along with science, and EVERYTHING ELSE IN THE WORLD. In explaining to children WHY science makes sense for example, it's necessary to show the alternatives. Only fools and cowards must block out alternative realities. Children are smart enough to differentiate when given some credit and freedom, rather than dogma and brainwashing.

This is my school, my class is in this vid (although it was apparently shot last year, I don't remember). It's a very strange school, sometimes as a joke me and my friends say it's a cult (and sometimes you definitely get that feeling). Eurythmy is the weirdest thing ever, but I still enjoy going to the school.
