Excellent video and very pleasant to watch two lovely ladies make something so delicious! Thank you so much. Can you tell us the dimensions of the pan you are using to cook the vegetable lasagna?
I tried this recipe last night. My family LOVED it! I substituted zuchinni for mushrooms and it turned out just great! Thank you very much. I will make it like this going forward.

It's ok, as it's your personal recipe, but, I think you need to decide whether you want to make a Veg Lasagne or Spinach & Ricotta non canelloni lasgane! Keep up the good work though.
I love how you guys explain everything in detail! For someone who has no idea of how to cook, your instructions are amazing. I've been cooking for a few years now, but still it's not like I know everything.
OMG! This recipe turned out REALLY GOOD! I added zuchinni? and morning star crumbles to the recipe and ohhhhhhhhhh it was sooooo good! GOD BLESS YOU FOR SHARING!
@sprinky311 : Mozzarella Cheese has a distinct stringy effect that is signature to a lasagna. That plus cheddar is a saltier cheese than Mozzarella. We have never substituted but we are sure it'll be fine. Let us know how it turns out.
Very Very Very good recipe! Thanks for sharing..because of you guys, my first veggie lasagna was perfect..even my 2 year old and my "meat only" husband loved it! lol! God Bless!
This is a really great Recipe.. My boyfriend and I use it all the time, with minor differences. Thank you for teaching your ways :D ..I'm going to make it today for his Birthday (he craves for it)

Hi ... the recipe is delicious. I cooked in a similar fashion in a Gas Oven. As directed by the video i left it for 50 minutes at 350 degrees F. However, it got burnt for beneath. Any idea for how long we need to cook it in a gas oven.
@bhargavsneha : A few things that can affect the cook time - dish used for cooking (we baked in a ceramic dish and that cooks more evenly and aluminum foil tray or a baking pan cook faster). Also, for even heating, it is best to cook in the middle of the oven and not too close to the elements. We suggest you try reducing the temperature to about 300 and cook for a little longer time, another 20-30 minutes. But please keep and an eye on it.
Actually i have one confusion. can I use cottage cheese insted of ricotta cheese because i didn't find it in store so i bring this one and tomorrow i am going to make lasagna 1st time so please reply soon.Thanks.
I love Italian food and Indian food! Ive never heard anyone call italian food bland? Hmm but then again yes italian food is a little bland compared to indian food. =). both are so yummy and scrumptious. This looks like a good recipe im going to try it with a little grated carrot added during the last minute of sauting the mushrooms. Love your cooking Anuja & Hetal! Vah Vah Vah!
Italian food is not bland! Find an Italian from Italy, not Italian American because most of them have forgotten, have a real Italian make lasagna for you. It is not bland! Second, too much salt is used..way too much. Third Hunt's tomato sauce? No!!! I'm not even Italian and I'm upset about this! Don't call the pasta noodles! And don't call this lasagna call it something else. It doesn't resemble lasagna in anyway.
@nightjade08 maybe "bland" was the wrong term to use, but for someone who eats Indian food on a daily basis the salt and spice content in Italian food is not enough.
I wonder who are all these 'people who associate Italian food as being bland or powerful enough for their palette'. If one's mouth is used in a kilo of chilly with every meal then it would but please do not make assumptions or present your personal opinion as what 'lots of people' think.
no disrespect but for being vegetarian and healthy there is noting healthy about it to much procees seasoning sorry but you need feed back to get better!!
I made this for my mother-in-law and she loved it!! My mother-in-law doesnt like anything and she LOVED it! She asked me to do it again today. OMG so excited! Off to work! Thank you ladies
Your recipe was excellent. I substitued the mushrooms for broccoli and carrots, sauteed them in olive oil and garlic, and then a dash of red wine. Everything came together. Thanks for the tips !
Hello Ladies, I made this yesterday and my roommate loved it, said it was the best ever. I did add some fennel seeds to it. I also took some for lunch today and brought extra for our secretary. @warwoon : Yes, you can. The foil trays tend to be very thin so we suggest that you cook the lasagna in the middle of the oven so it does not burn too fast :)

@MrTjcomedy As you are not aware, Indian food contains much more spice than Italian Food so thats why some of us may find the ingredients used in Italian cooking a bit plain. Indian Cuisine is one of the best in the world and spices have been scientifically proven to contain medicinal and health benefits - maybe the reason why Indians are widely known to be so intellectual. Obviously, you only know how to be rude Mrblahblah Comedy - youre not funny in the least.
Hello Ladies...receipe is great considering the mix of flovours...But just couple of things...lasagna is all abt generous fillings....i guess instead of just filling in lines it wud have been better its filled fully, and the noodles have to over lap each other while , and the noodles are certainly over cooked as i can see in the video...the cardinal rule for lasagna noodles is never boil them turn of the heat and just place them in already boiled water....but u r mix of ricotto cheese was gud..
We intentionally did not overlap so that the cutting and serving is cleaner and easier...
Regarding the noodles - interesting, we had never heard of just adding them to water...so how long should we leave them in water? We followed the instructions on the package.!
thank you so much for your reply... i do want to try it... i hope it will be fine.....:)
thank you so much for your wonderful receipes.. online.... most of them are so easy to cook with your both detailed.. steps............ keep us posted with new ones....
I so agree with you Silne08, Italian food is NOT bland, it is delicious:-) I am Indian raised here all my life and find that not everything has to be"spiced up". It is a matter of personal taste. Have you ever had Lasagna with sweet Italian sausage and chopped sirloin beef? Wow it is heavenly. But not for the vegetarians obviously!!!!!! Thanks for another good tutorial guys!
hello i do wnat to try the lasagna receipe but i am not sure if it can be done only in a conventional oven...?? becsuse i dont have one!!! is there any other possibility to make a lasagna without a conventional oven......!!!
I made this lasagna (my first) and it turned out really great! I used Emeril's Kicked Up Tomato sauce for this. Because I did not use an egg, I had to add a small amount of milk to the ricotta cheese mixture so that it will spread easier, and I also left out the mozzarella, which was later sprinkled on top instead. Thanks again for this recipe.
This recipe looks delicious! My friend has been asking me to make a vegetable lasagna, and I think this is a good one to try. She likes everything spicy.
I do like to "doctor" my spaghetti sauces with some spices and adding a bit of sugar to take the edge off some of the tartness. I can't wait to try this. Thank you!
ohhhk.... thanks very much... actually we are a group of male students liveing in U.K. so most of the time we watch your videos and try making it... and i need to tell you that all your dishes awere awesome....
The other way to cook lasagna without an oven and without using the microwave is using the Sun. I have only done this once and it was because were were camping. It sounds silly but it really works. All you need is a shoe box, aluminum foil and plastic wrap.
Line your box with aluminum, the whole inside of it. This allows the sun to heat up your food. place lasagna in the box. Place plastic wrap over it. Watch it as the sun cooks your meal. It may take longer than the oven does but it works. ^_^
I like mushrooms but have never cooked it myself. Should I wash it or just wipe it off, I see people just wiping it off, which is best? Are the stems edible? Thanks for taking the time to make these videos!!!
Different people have different opinions about whether or not to wash mushrooms. Our opinion is to wash them. They are grown under some "odd" conditions and therefore makes us feel better if we wash them. The stems are edible. Look for mushroom that are firm and white and the caps are closed underneath. If you see the dark ridges underneath the cap, they are still edible but not as fresh.
This looks really delicious!!! I love mushrooms but my Mom cannot eat it. Can I use eggplants instead - or do you have any other suggestion. Thanks a lot for the video :)
@1too3fore those are called vegans, honey thats not what they were talking about. In Indian culture egg is considered to be like meat, but milk is not. But many indian vegetarians these days eat egg.
have u ever made lasagna before? you would know most lasagna noodles are meant to be pre-boiled...u can try the no boil variety, but they usually turn out tough....
yes i have made it alot of times and they where fine you just have to make sure the heat is not to high so it can really cook through and it is not tough it turns soft have you ever made it with dry noodles??
i made this as prescribed and it was delicious! only thing I changed was using eggplant instead of mushrooms as I don't like mushrooms. it's so much more flavorful and fresh than like meat lasagna. the broiling is a nice touch!
my aunt does a proper desi style lasagna where the only thing Mediterranean about it is the pasta sheets and cheese, all other layers consist of typical Indian veg and a sauce made in a typical Indian way with a tomato and masala base. and of course loads of green chili and its proper hot. nice.
she sometimes adds rough/coarse bread crumbs as the top most layer which adds a nice crunchy contrast to the soft veg and sheets.
hey if it tastes good it is good. you need to study the history of food. like no one just 1 day invented lasagna and said this is exactly how to make it. even in Italy and the same region from where it originates the recipe will differ from household to household. so who r u to say that changing the ingredients to ones personal taste is ruining a dish?
Sure, you can leave the egg out. It is there to be a binding agent for the ricotta cheese which tends to break apart but it shouldn't affect the taste too much.
OMG I made this recipe, and I added some onion. I used chopped baby portabello mushrooms. Mmmm It was so so good. My husband who isn't a vegetarian ate ALOT of it! We love it! Thank you, ladies for the recipe!
Watching this was painful. Don't get me wrong-when it comes to Indian food, You gals kick ass, but please leave the Italian food to the Italians. First, I would NEVER use sauce from a can, nor a jar. Yes, helpful in a pinch, but flavorless. Second, You should always end with a layer of sauce, cook at a higher temp (400-425) and add the cheese on top for the last 20 minutes or so. Third, don't ever cover a lasagna, it makes it watery. That said, I love Your vids on Indian cuisine. Thank You!
dude most of us live in the real world and just following this recipe takes LOTS of time...maybe u have time to make sauce from scratch but many others dont...
Yes, You're right, I shouldn't be such a food snob. There ARE some really good jarred and canned sauces out there, and to use them would not be criminal. I guess I was just feeling a wee bit too much critical when I viewed this video. Carry on, Ladies, I LOVE Your recipes!
Thanks : ) Interesting little variations to the standard veg lasagna. One thing I couldn't do without would be fresh grated nutmeg to the spinach, or nutmeg/mace in bechamel/ricotta. You've used red chilli flakes, but fresh ground black pepper as well would not be overkill to me : )
What is italian seasoning?!

Have you ever had Lasagna with sweet Italian sausage and chopped sirloin beef? Wow it is heavenly. But not for the vegetarians obviously!!!!!! Thanks for another good tutorial guys!

how long would this keep if frozen uncooked?
bluewalls88 2 years ago
It'll freeze for about 4 months.
ShowMeTheCurry 2 years ago
Be sure to wrap it very well to prevent freezer burn.

hello i do wnat to try the lasagna receipe but i am not sure if it can be done only in a conventional oven...?? becsuse i dont have one!!! is there any other possibility to make a lasagna without a conventional oven......!!!
anudpk 2 years ago

Thank you!

I see the receipe looks good, i would put in more fresh garlic and red pepper flakes.

I never heard of someone associating Italian food as being bland... I cook Italian food often and its very very good.
Anyway, this vegetable lasagna looks delicious.

Hello.. there... i have a small doubt..?? can we cook lasagna without a oven...?? if yes please do let me know... thanks very much... bye,,,
departmentofracing 2 years ago
You could microwave it, but you will not get the nice browning effect and flavor.
ShowMeTheCurry 2 years ago

Thanks for taking the time to make these videos!!!
eastercranberry 2 years ago
Different people have different opinions about whether or not to wash mushrooms. Our opinion is to wash them. They are grown under some "odd" conditions and therefore makes us feel better if we wash them. The stems are edible. Look for mushroom that are firm and white and the caps are closed underneath. If you see the dark ridges underneath the cap, they are still edible but not as fresh.

This looks really delicious!!! I love mushrooms but my Mom cannot eat it. Can I use eggplants instead - or do you have any other suggestion. Thanks a lot for the video :)
lagirl143 2 years ago
Eggplant is delicious in this recipe. Just be sure to pre-cook it. It does not cook once it is layered in.
ShowMeTheCurry 2 years ago
Cool, thanks, I'll try eggplant next time!
I tried your recipe today & it came out pretty good. First time I made lasagna ever :)
lagirl143 2 years ago
um, pure vegetarians wouldn't use any of the cheeses either, unless you find a suitable substitute.

hi you can use cheese which contains vegetarian rennet (made of plants) iso normal cheese.. it is hard to find though, just read the ingredients ;)
lilindian90 2 years ago
@1too3fore those are called vegans, honey thats not what they were talking about. In Indian culture egg is considered to be like meat, but milk is not. But many indian vegetarians these days eat egg.
desidol22 1 year ago
can i skip the egg
as m pure vegetarian
will it effect the taste or can i put anything else instead of egg?
plz reply...........
aussiekudi 2 years ago
You can leave the egg out. It changes the texture of the cheese slightly (more so than the taste) but it still tastes great.

why did you cook the noodles ? your ment to put it in the Lasagna hard and they cook it in the oven until the pasta is soft
darkroge 2 years ago
have u ever made lasagna before? you would know most lasagna noodles are meant to be pre-boiled...u can try the no boil variety, but they usually turn out tough....
sumrinayousuf 2 years ago
yes i have made it alot of times and they where fine you just have to make sure the heat is not to high so it can really cook through and it is not tough it turns soft have you ever made it with dry noodles??

i made this as prescribed and it was delicious! only thing I changed was using eggplant instead of mushrooms as I don't like mushrooms. it's so much more flavorful and fresh than like meat lasagna. the broiling is a nice touch!

my aunt does a proper desi style lasagna where the only thing Mediterranean about it is the pasta sheets and cheese, all other layers consist of typical Indian veg and a sauce made in a typical Indian way with a tomato and masala base. and of course loads of green chili and its proper hot. nice.
she sometimes adds rough/coarse bread crumbs as the top most layer which adds a nice crunchy contrast to the soft veg and sheets.
but yours looks good as well will give it go.
AJ9211 2 years ago
that sounds so typical...trust a FOB to ruin a perfectly good dish...
sumrinayousuf 2 years ago
hey if it tastes good it is good. you need to study the history of food. like no one just 1 day invented lasagna and said this is exactly how to make it. even in Italy and the same region from where it originates the recipe will differ from household to household. so who r u to say that changing the ingredients to ones personal taste is ruining a dish?
AJ9211 2 years ago
yummmmmmmmmmmyyyyy i will try that recipe thank you ^___^v

my boyfriend doesnt eat eggs...will it still turn out well if i dont add the egg??
khikha99 3 years ago
Sure, you can leave the egg out. It is there to be a binding agent for the ricotta cheese which tends to break apart but it shouldn't affect the taste too much.

Thank You!
qutoobe 3 years ago
dude most of us live in the real world and just following this recipe takes LOTS of time...maybe u have time to make sauce from scratch but many others dont...
sumrinayousuf 2 years ago
Yes, You're right, I shouldn't be such a food snob. There ARE some really good jarred and canned sauces out there, and to use them would not be criminal. I guess I was just feeling a wee bit too much critical when I viewed this video. Carry on, Ladies, I LOVE Your recipes!

Thanks : ) Interesting little variations to the standard veg lasagna. One thing I couldn't do without would be fresh grated nutmeg to the spinach, or nutmeg/mace in bechamel/ricotta. You've used red chilli flakes, but fresh ground black pepper as well would not be overkill to me : )

good job u have done.....but is it necessary to cook this much long process.....

By the way, green bell peppers are surprisingly good in lasagna. My aunt cooks it that way.
