The problem with the population in the 'developed' countries, is that they have become more selfish and materialistic. They just want to enjoy their life and postpone having kids or dont have them at all. That does not mean this trend is written in stone, it just takes a change in the thought process of the society for it to change. Japanese and European couples can start having two children in order to mantain their population levels and keep their economies from shrinking.

The problem with the population in the 'developed' countries, is that they have become more selfish and materialistic. They just want to enjoy their life and postpone having kids or dont have them at all. That does not mean this trend is written in stone, it just takes a change in the thought process of the society for it to change. Japanese and European couples can start having two children in order to mantain their population levels and keep their economies from shrinking.

Realistically, China's population is decreasing. Any population which averages less than 2 children per woman and less than a 50% woman/male ratio will ALWAYS decrease population.
That is why I realize the 1 child rule is sensible. In my state, our average fertility rate is less than 2 (but there are more women than men, so it partially is canceled) so our population decreases annually.
I am proud of the Communist Party of India (Marxist) for their contributions to making this achievement.
