  • I wish Dave and Alan would get together and do something great!

  • It's no million dollar question. Alan has been asked that question million times and each time the response is: "If I returned what would be the point of leaving?"

  • @diamondedge86 Of course he was asked by fans. But I've never heard that members of the band asked him.

  • Imagine that Mart, Dave and Fletch all asked Alan to return to the band. The million dollar question is, will Alan agree?

  • ALAN IS BACK ! HALELUJA !!!!

  • Holy Shite, Alan is the only one who can produce the DM sound. The songs are there but come on DM, how about Recoil producing the next album. Take the band to the next level .... yes there another level and Recoils is the step .....

  • The original track is really nice Martin Gore work. Though I have a problem with the original intro. This remix is a clear proof that Martin still needs Alan Wilder to make his work devine. Same story with Enjoy the silence, great song and lyrics by Martin Gore, but when Allan had the chance to polish the diamond...wauuw..! Dave's voice is really fantastic with Alan's sound. Martin, Dave, Fletch - do the right thing for DM and all the devotees!! Pride is a poor substitute for intelligence :o)

  • it sounds like a tarck left off from Songs of Faith and Devotion album. Alan has always been the driving force of DM no arguments.

  • I wish Alan would have shorten the intro just a bit, but other than that it feels like old DM :) But than again it is a remix..so its all good.

  • I wish Alan would have shorten the intro just a bit, but other than that it feels like old DM :)

  • ...hell yeah. actually sounds like dm. it's no coincidence that I stopped listening to dm when alan left.

  • that right sounds like b side violator songs

  • ¡Qué buena versión! Le quedó mejor que la original, a Alan Wilder...¡Debería regresar a Depeche Mode!

  • This mix is a proof :since his departure,i think that depeche mode lacks of something;i don't like their last albums but this mix, with an Alan Wilder slicky production is really nice:this Guy should come back in the band!!!

  • check out also H.O.H

  • simply genius!

  • @TheUltrabar QUE SEMEJANTE ESTUPIDES LA QUE DICES, LA MEJOR ETAPA DE DM ES CON ALAN WILDER Y TU MISMO PONTE ANALIZAR ESE PERIODO Y SE VEN REFLEJADOS EN SUS DISCOS... CREO QUE ANTES DE HABLAR... ANALIZA UN POCO.

  • Martin debe odiar esta version...

  • For me this is not a remix.... It's simply DEPECHE MODE !!! (:

  • Want A Wilder back to DM.

If that´s impossible, at least let him produce next DM album...

In my opinion, this is how DM should sound.

  • @CleanKerplank

been saying that .. no stress of live , just input of producing it .. get paid then move away ...

  • @CleanKerplank

You're right...Alan's remix feels full, especially towards the end of the song where Alan gave it the live drum treatment.

  • Alan come back to DM!!

  • Alan is the biggest music genius, I think. I want him in DM again!! Who's with me like!

  • the best and most personal remix on a whole remix album

  • Ave Alan!!!

  • Depeche Mode are:

    Alan Wilder

    Martin Gore

    Dave Gahan

    Andrew Fletcher

  • i love dm

  • DM bez Wildera jest jak Barcelona bez Messiego

  • Wilder, błagam cię, wróć do DM!!!!!

  • Depeche Mode is still a group that is clearly divided into the period before and after Mr. Wilder as much as the members found it hard to admit .... The only possible solution in the case of today's band Depeche Mode is that each individual member swallows his pride and asks Mr.Wilder nicely to come back to band ASAP

  • Top. Germany´s second best but least known electric popband.

  • @newconcnewconc LOL, what? :D

  • @newconcnewconc

    are you ok man? hmmm.....

  • yes, it was all Alan.. he's the best in all senses, i've always loved watching Alan when they played live, and on devotional tour '93 he's fantastic on drums

  • Wow, nobody can arrange rhythm lines, beats and orchestral sounds like he does... and then you add a lead melody and Dave's voice, and poof, a DM song!

  • Until 6:15 it is some sort of recoil remix, but after 6:15 it is first real "depeche mode sound" since 1994.

  • @laembert Agree, but i think DM starts from 4:09 ;)

  • Alan back pleaaaaaaaase !!!!!

  • Alal back pleaaaaaaaase !!!!!

  • This song kicks in after 3:16. Wilder was always the atmosphere and rhythm of DM. He molded Martin's songs into danceable hits. Without him (and Flood), "Enjoy the Silence" and others would be slow ballads.

  • Miss A Wilder - a lot! This is the real DM sound. I still like DM but that little extra is missing. It´s clear what that is...

  • that's great

  • I like how he took sounds from PTA and used it on here. And the outtro... I want to go to another dimension where Alan never left DM!!!

  • real Depeche Mode??? was there ever an unreal one?????????? Wouldn't it be more like different DM as talented as when Alan there....Dont misunderstand me, only i believe Dm sounds definitely different they evolved soundwise....lyrics wise the Genius of Martin is still there and Dave s voice has too evolved....they are still Music For The Masses ... without Dave or Martin (the one goes with the other like Heart and Soul) it will be the end of DM

  • @lifedevotee Amen to that

  • Beautiful, Amazing,Great Sound

  • Anything and everything by Depeche Mode is great and wonderful... when Alan Wilder is involved it becomes even greater!! i so wish he was back with the group!!

  • I don't think it's so much Alan leaving that has made the band's sound slightly wane. I think it's the fact that they aren't quite as dark or sensual anymore, at least not as much as the Black Celebration and Violator days.

  • señoras y señores... QUE FINAL DIOS MIO!! ESTO ES BUENA MUSICA CON EL MAESTRO ALAN WILDER!!! tiene que colaborar el proximo album SI O SI !!!

  • Alan WIlder is the Babe Ruth of studio production. That's all there is to it. If SOTU had this kind of production, it would have been another great album instead a few okay tracks.

  • Great remix involving both DM and Recoil sounds... For me it sounds very "recoilish" until 5:30 (reminds me of the Prey shotgun mix) and then comes the typical DM sound as on Songs of Faith and Devotion with more "human" and warm drums... it's good to see that alan still manages to create that atmosphere he used to create like 15-20 years ago...

  • @pecci92

Yes. "Recoilish" because he had not do any compromises. Its a Remix. The "Wilder Remix". Because no Martin or any other producer told him, yes or no, do this do that. :-). He made that "In Chains" sound like his own work. Like it would be his own project. But he had not all original mastertapes, He missed Daves voice mastertape, because of the record company. So maybe he he could have done a much better version of it. But thank you Alan for what you could do ! :-)

  • Ooohhh, how I missed THAT sound!

  • DM has its special core that includes Alan. Although they did great stuff without him; I really think DM should open a new chapter by reintegrating Alan to gain in freshness. We'll that's only my opinion as a big Fan. And yes, this version is way deeper, darker and complex as the original. Love it !! Thumbs up DM!!

  • Better than original, no doubt!!! Alan is the soul of DM!!! Please returns!

  • @graphsas i dont agree there if Alan had b een the Soul of DM then when he left it would have been the end of DM...Instead DM grew evolved to produce quality genius songs. The Soul of DM ?: Martin the Heart of DM ?;Dave

  • @lifedevotee

DM continued making music w/o Wilder. But its hard to say they evolved. I say they made due. They'd definitely be smart to swallow their pride and recruit Wilder back. And the reason it probably isn't happening is b/c Fletch is a dick.

  • @lifedevotee anyway, alan's work was a masterpiece in DM during his career!!!!!!

  • Depeche Mode, meaning Martin and Dave, are true artists and true artists keep growing. Isn't art suppose to be alive? Like someone said before, maybe Alan

doesn't fit anymore as the other two have kept going without a hitch in my honest opinion. How many songs written by Depeche Mode have a I loved since he's left? So many, but as much as I respect Mr. Wilder, I can't say the same about his music. Maybe he needed Depeche Mode more than DM has needed him the past 16 yrs. SOTU kicks major ass!

  • @usolatecla

    SOTU kicks no one asses!

SOTU is the cheapest produced DM album ever!

Ask DM fans with history and knowledge over 30 years. DM needs ALAN more than in reverse.

But its okay if you like SOTU and i respect your opinion because i grew up with that combination of sound and tunes and lyrics including Alan. You may have a different point of view because of different circumstances.

I dont know but its okay. Because People Are People. And...

"Different People Have Different Needs" ;-)

  • @moments242 errr yeah

  • @usolatecla yeah i gotta admit..recoil is awful

  • @usolatecla well said couldn't agree more on that

  • I want him back to DM!

  • and also just to say despite what Mr. Fletcher thinks (the most unmusical person ive seen in a band and has a huge ego) ... alan wilder WAS very much a part of the spirit of depecheMODE during his time w the band, most dM fans know dM w/ alan wilder more so than vince clarke, who Fletch gives more respect to, even tho vince left after what? 6 mo after forming the band?

  • its just my opinion, for me Alan gave them a very layered, atmospheric, and rich sound...the signature depecheMODE sound. And even tho i absolutely love the albums ultra, exciter, pta, and sotu, those albums are just missing that certain element that alan helped bring to the over-all sound of previous albums -esp violator and sofad where alan's skills as a producer were flourishing. i just feel that M.gore songs w/ dave's voice and alan's musical production/input is the best version of dM

  • PARA LA GENTE QUE SE QUEDA CON PLAYING THE ANGEL ,NADA SABEN DE DPECHE MODE ALAN WILDER CONTRIBUYO MUCHO AL GRUPO Y DEPECHE AHCE RATO QUE NO SACA UN ALBUM EN QUE UNO PUEDA ESCUCHAR 10 CANCIONES BUENAS AHORA SON 5 ,4 O 6 TEMAS DETACABLES ,HACE FALTA ALAN DE TODAS FORMAS A LAN LE HACE FALTA GORE Y VICE VERSA

  • Anyone who doesn't realize that every album since Violator was progressively worse (as opposed to the extremely high standard they set) is deaf. Sure there were some great tracks here and there but the cohesive sound and package that Depeche Mode used to present was lost with Alan Wilder. It's not that he made the band but obviously he gave enough input and brilliance so that Depeche could have 10 great songs on an album as opposed to 3 or 4.

  • @sdrsatellite that is your opinion.

  • @IkotheSwarm Captain obvious here...

  • @K3strel My point is.. don't be saying that shit like if it were facts honey. GET THE FUCK OUT OF LIFE

  • I wonder what kind of samplers/ synths were used in this mix, i doubt he used the emulators of the past.

  • Great, now I know where the sound in "In Your Room" came from. Alan Wilder is a genius.

  • ='')

  • to jest genialne!!!!!!!! Od 93 poraz pierwszy czuje te dreszcze,........!!

  • Since SOFAD I quit enjoying DM. After that, DM are living under the wings of older glories. Just like a good brand that once was really good and now is just "something". As someone wrote here b4, DM lacks the work of a decent producer. Compatible with the routes of the band. Listening to Alan's own work it's takes me to the late great DM days. I'm not listening Recoil 'cause of DM. I enjoy Recoil on it's own.

  • The way I see it, this isn't a remix. Alan simply fixed this song.

  • @R085K1 i respect your view but have to disagree if DM was just Something then they would not fill stadiums or have done the Soun Of The Universe Tour would they?...granted DM without Alan sounds different but Music should not be static DM has proved it by doing gr8 without Alan....

  • Hearing this makes me curious what his take would have been on the b-side track Ghost

  • @bobfromtheblacklodge

Why is this spam? Only one Alan, d'oh!!!

  • The beginning reminds me of Opus III's Mind Fruit album which came out in 1991 and the rest sounds a lot like Songs of Faith and Devotion which is my least favorite DM album. Depeche Mode have moved into the future without Wilder. I loved Playing the Angel. Alan Wilder is stuck in the early 90's.

  • @johnnyatab had alan stayed w the band he would have grown artistically just as the other two have- being martin and dave, the creative contributors to depecheMODE that weve all known for the last 16 yrs. Depeche have always grown w every album, in subtles way sometimes. Alan wilder was an extremely important member during his time w depeche, and in my 26yr depeche listening opinion they wouldnt have had the success they have enjoyed for quite a long time w/o him. Doubters study theyre history

  • @djshaiMODE Who is doubting Alan's contribution to DM's fame? No sane person would do that. But I have to agree with johnyatab - DM are different band now and this do sound like SOFAD. 18 years old album. Not the contemporary DM sound. I like this remix, but love the original version.

  • @djshaiMODE I think they did fine without him. Like I said Playing the angel was a great album, one of their best and was made without Wilder. It's not like Wilder enjoyed an extremely lucrative career with Recoil.

  • @johnnyatab

one of the best= not good enough

  • @Oliver8111 That is just plain stupid.

  • From what I've heard so far (and I've probably heard about half of the new remixes); this one is the best! You have to wait for it to really hit, but its worth it.

  • God I miss his sound - Deep, dark and punchy !!! This is the only remix on the record which actually made me sit up and listen attentively. Very very good stuff !

Alan shouldn´t go back to DM. Nothing good would probably come of it. What DM should do is humbly ask Mr. Wilder to please PLEASE produce their next album….

  • If alan dosnt produce the next album then i will not financially support them. I wont buy the album or even go an see them. They know what the fans want!

  • @GoreDepeche ,,,,the fans definitely know what they want ....passion and emotions...definitely given with Higher Love by Depeche Mode,,,,

  • You hear that kids? it's depeche mode as they were meant to be! Ahhh Alan's touch has been sorely missed! I'm almost teary-eyed

  • Higher shiiiittttt.

  • Alan we always love you! Amazing remix!!!

  • Ojala depeche mode haga otra gira con Alan Wilder de regreso!

  • great job....

  • I can't stop listen this remix, close my eyes and listen the real Depeche Mode, Alan gives the sound to DM. Hope someday he can return to the band, they really need him.

  • Alan is always Alan

  • Alan, get back for the next DM album. DM are great but the music and overall songs aren't as good since Alan left. Alan added much more depth to the music. There are still great songs on the new albums but there's also some rubbish. When Alan was in the band the whole album contained great music and songs.

  • I'm most likely going to get criticised by rabid DM fans for not really liking Wilder's remix, but oh well..- ( It is a miracle that Wilder came back into the fold though it is a temporary visit..) Wilder did great work interpreting Gore's songs- basically he was DM's producer from 1982 to 1995.. He single-handedly molded DM's sound.. A brilliant musician..

  • @Tekbike

I'm not a rabid DM fan, but I don't agree on two counts: First off, Wilder would do the band loads of good, today. As a producer. And this remix shows it. Second, I don't think Wilder is that good on his own. His last Recoil album while being within the band (Bloodline) was also his best one. The ones that followed were much effort but not much result. He needs Gore (and today Gahan) as they need him.

    But alas, it won't happen.

  • @flug747 : I would agree on everything except for the "Alan needs the band because Recoil hasn't been the same since he left DM" point... I do think that Recoil was excellent during his DM days, but I'm more partial to the stuff he's done since he's been able to focus solely on Recoil, so I would argue that what you're hearing is more a matter of stylistic preference than of quality. As a DM fan, I would love to see Alan rejoin the band, but as a Recoil fan, I'd rather see that project thrive.

  • yeah...so...ALAN SHOULD COME BACK TO DM! RIGHT NOW!

  • Oh, bloody hell, listening to this just makes me tremble.. I like the DM albums from 1996 to today. But imagine what masterpieces they could have been. If they'd just been a bit nicer to Alan...

  • I wonder if DM know what they're doing by having Wilder do a remix. Look at all the comments here...

Boy, what a difference a good producer makes.

  • This is this first dm song with all 4 of the best members contributing to the sound in years! Come back Alan!!

  • Oh look, they put a REAL Depeche Mode track on the silly remix album.

Now THIS is the real musical talent that's been missed during the last decade or so from DM. The layers, the complexity of sound, the tightness of track, it's all Alan's great talent.

I hope you decide to work on more projects like this. Martin's words + Dave's voice + Alan's music = Champagne for the Ear... thanks for the rare treat!

  • Initially, Alan stated getting the group together, was difficult, they all moved around. Before his departure, David was going through serious addiction, and believe that was a big issue in his choice in leaving. Alan later stated, he was tired of being in a band, and wanted his own creative project. Alan definitely contributed to the more complex sound and broadening the scope of their early vision. He along with DM influenced they way a lot of modern music sounds.

  • Alan = Power..Alan = NEW SOUND DEPECHE MODE = THE BEST BAND OF THE WORLD

  • Come Back Alan....

  • This should have been the remix single, also the video should have the band in an alan aswell.

  • his is really awesome. this is a depeche mode sound :)

  • First real Depeche Mode track since 1994! This is how it should sound! Thx mr. Wilder...

  • alan wilder...forever missed, never forgotten.....

From the minute 6:10 we can listen the sound that have caracterized the music of DM when Alan Wilder was in the group. Maybe the sound is similar to the Recoil's sound but also I feel a sound similar to Walking in my shoes...

  • more please MR WILDER!!!! depecheMODE!!!!!!!!!

  • The Way Depeche Mode should have sounded all this time.

  • @mikalalejandro Indeed.......

  • bella.. quasi quasi meglio dell'originale.. si percepisce il tocco in più di Alan..

  • yup, a taste of the REAL depecheMODE, since 1995....sorry fletch! thank you mr. wilder

  • Alan, please come back.

  • Comment removed

  • Endless-Loop :D

Love this amazing remix. Thx Alan :)

  • St. Alan of Wilder :P

  • Alan "The Sound" Wilder...you are the best!!!

  • The samples were used were from records after his departure. He also uses a sample from Unsound Methods, his first LP after he left the band. The use of these samples were calculated head nods (that in no part make up a whole of the song, just a couple small elements). Enjoy it, dont misconstrue it as something else.

  • Alan, come back!!! please!!!!!

  • 3:37 - it´s like a new single frome real Depeche Mode since Mr. Wilder left the band. I ´ve been waiting for that 16 years, my god !

  • 3:42 The sound which Depeche Mode lost, when Alan left!

  • @Vasqes87

And 3:15. It just kills me...!

  • Great work!

  • genial remix d'alan!!!! on retrouve l'ambiance de recoil et de l'album SOFAD :)) tu manque ALAN

  • Great remix. A very saturated sound yet you still hear all the small details in the background, typical of DM with Alan in the old days. Also those awesome drum sounds and grooves. I didn't really like this song until now.

  • Sounds like old Depeche MOde, like Songs of Faith and Devotion..., Alan must go back to DM, He is very important part of the band !!!

    Alan = DM

  • Echoing everyone else...Alan is truly the 'sound' of Depeche Mode.

  • Quite simply the ONLY CLASSY remix on this sad album..

The new remixes really suck and have no sympathy or musical understanding of the tracks they are remixing.

Well done Alan!.. sounds better than the original and adds the depth and subtlety missing from the mode for so many years

  • the intro sounds like certain song made by akira yamaoka for the OST of one silent hill i cant rember wich

  • Totally agree with the other comments posted here. The guy is a musical genious. It's amazing that we are still talking about it after all these years, after all he has been out of DM longer than he was in it. This remix gives us an insight into what DM might sound like if he were still in the band. So frustrating - I just want to hear more of it, much more!!

  • DM are just not the same without Alan's input.

I'm so glad he came back for this remix, I really hope it leads to other things in the future.

  • This is by far, one of the strongest remixes on the new CD compilation. It's quite unfortunate that a lot of the heart and soul of great DM songs are mangled by the modern remixer on that same CD.

  • Alan vuelve a salvar a DM porfavor...slds desde CHILE

  • C'mon Alan you have to come back!!!!

  • Perfect!!!!!

  • Alan Wilder is back!......................kinda

  • @dwc311 if he's back how come theres so many samples from PTA and Exciter. How can you even tell its him except for the last 2 minutes?

  • @CellTrace Well hes not back in the band. Hes not an official member again. But he made this new remix. It hints at what DM would sound like if he never left. I gotta tell ya after listening to so much depeche mode and recoil i can tell its alans distinctive sound. Its got the Recoilish snare drum. Its got the dark atmosphere. The remix just reeks of SOFAD kinda but exspecially Recoil. Its got that distinctive Recoil touch to it. Idk if you know much Recoil.

  • @CellTrace where did you find exciter and pta samples in there? there are samples from sofad and some other albums, but nothing from exciter and pta. i doubt Alan even bothered to get them

  • @sergoAAAA

There are obvious samples from I Want It All

  • @UncleSamFisher I cant hear that, but even if it's so then I guess the trio used Alan's samples from the golden DM era :-)

  • @sergoAAAA Incorrect. Wilder lifts stuff verbatim from I Want It All (PTA) and I Am You (Exciter).

  • @chicagofinance may be the samples were used in the original version of in chains, and Alan decided to leave them because they fit well into his mix as well.

  • @dwc311 I guess he thought the exciter and playing the angel samples sounded cool....that would make sense.....because they are cool.....and depeche modes cool.....exspecially alan......

  • Now that's how to do a bloody remix!!! Fuck these beach party remixes! This is inspired, well done Alan! LOVE it ; )

  • @budgethemusicsponge

    Totally agree!!!

  • @budgethemusicsponge Here!here! well said M8!

  • Dave's vocal sounds amazing on this mix! Alan's a legend!

  • It's like SOFA.... very good!!!!!
