It seems like the stabilizer just adds weight to keep the muscles of the arm from overcompensating every step. Someone should try strapping on 2.5 lb wrist weights on each arm to see if it would produce very similar effects. Theoretically, it should work..
This is a nice steady shot, I've been using the Cam Caddie Scorpion and it's captured some amazingly steady moving shots. I only payed $37 for it and it can hold lights and mics. I highly recommend it to everyone in need of an independent setup.
We got the iPhone SteadiCam mount where I was working and of course, being someone who makes my own guitars, furniture, hifi etc., I blurted out "£200 for that piece of junk?!?" The actual product has the disadvantage of swivelling in the Y axis, something over which you have little or no control. Its basically a hand drip with a ball joint with the iPhone on top and a weight hanging below.
I feel like you might not have stabilized the camera quite right. the weight of the camera should equal the weight of your stabilizer. Your stabilizer is too heavy, causing the video to lean when you move quickly sideways. But you've probably figured this out by now :)
Very good, works better in this example using your steadycam. When are you going to produce the whole film? we're waiting! she's obviously a Cyborg, you can show us her vision using some head tracking ;-)

this is horrible footage. i've gotten better video with just holding onto my xl2's handle and walking next to someone. lol this is pretty bad... I had hoped that this was a True "poor mans steadycam" but again i'm disappointed...
Please note this shot is done with a wide angle lens and that helps keep the shot looking smooth. I have one of these steadycams and I like it. But the footage looks best if you use a wide angle lens rather than the kind of lens that usually comes with camcorders.
NO, you can NOT. the point of using "fish eye" is to "fit in" more of the image into the shot. the cause is the image is deformed a little bit. using an editing program to do such a thing IS ONLY an EFFECT, because the only thing u get is deformation...
A load of tripe lad, first learn videography then become an editor then come back and try talking like you know what you're on about, unless it's analogue video the video (digital) is fed onto a chip not 100% of the image will fit on the chip but the unviewable area (border) is stored on the media the camera uses, using the proper editing software you can regain the lost border (cropped area), It's the same in digital still photography. So YES you CAN,
the lens gives you more of the image but in digital the aspect ratio can be cropped by the lens, therefore leaving an unseen border on the media the camera uses. using the proper editing software you can regain the lost border (cropped area), thats all I'm saying micro
Come on Micro I edit pro, not homemade vids to post on the interweb. just drop in here for a break, if I want to see stuff I've worked on I watch it on the big screen.
Specifically, most recent I've worked on (not single handed of course) Hancock, Sex and the City: The Movie, The Incredible Hulk....to name but a few.
awesome I am deff thinking of buying one from u I am a very unstable I have very little balance so when I buy and use it if it works for me it should work for anyone
Looked good to me. We know what 'walking' video looks like without a steadycam. This looks pretty solid. Also, we all see walking people from behind, but we rarely see what they look like from the front, so here the camera gives us a new perspective, like eyes in the back of our head. That angle was the best and could have been longer. Nice test video.

did you use any effects or filters during editing?
it kinda looks like there's a slight "fish-eye" effect
if so how did you add it
Drunmsticks451 4 years ago
"fish eye" is a type of lens , not an effect. i think he might used a wide angle lens.

you can add a "fish eye" effect with any good editing sw

1. I didn't insult you, just presented my opinion, so don't insult me.
2. maybe it's true but still - the lens gives you more of the image, doesn't it?
