Sooty and Sweep had nothing on some of the mechanicalised freak-shows I endured on the North Promenade stretch of Arcadia 30 years back.
I recall strange 'Space Bunny' carousels. Two rabbits in space suits opposite each other, all flaking paint and long ears, in an endless spin to nowhere.
The most hideous of them all though, was an archaic 'Laughing Policeman', situated near Wonderland until mid '80's. My Father lifted me onto his shoulders to view it, and I was so scared, I shit my shorts.
